Just want to say your video sold me on picking up a 6505+ combo. I can't believe how much more signal is getting sent through by chucking a cable in the fx loop. I will change the speaker out for a celestion probably a redback but the simple act of putting the cable in there improves the signal so much. This should be more publicly known.
@@xasthur98 Take one of the short cables used to chain peddles. one end into send and the other into the return. I would think there's a video. Lemme check
It sounds beast, just out of the box, guitar, cable plug in to the amp. Awesome, this is going to be my new toy that I will give to myself as 40 birthday gift next January 20th🥳
I feel like mine doesn't sound the same as yours. I have the effects loop jumped out and a horizon devices precision drive in front which in theory should tighten it up. I bought it used so I wonder if it might need one or more of the tubes replaced. Any advice?
be sure your ohm output is on the right (16ohm) and then try this setting with just a cable plugged in th fx loop : Presence 9.5 resonance 8 treble 5, middle 3 bass 6 gain 7... Tell me after !
I noticed the difference in sound when i plugged in a boss me to the loop. Then playing without it. I was thought. Hmmm maybe my amp is just broken. So i would just loop it by it self to get more gain lol
It isn't broken, it's a factory issue I think that all this serie is confronted to. Some people like the fact it adds more clarity (presence) and more gain (like me) but I know people who hate this...
@@johngloom9235 thank you.. well i really like the Sheffields because they have less trebles and have good low ends... With the 6505 series you need to krank the presence knob (between 8 and 9) and lower the trebles (around 3 or 4). If you do that with the fx loop jump (with the combo) it sounds great
Just some tips, I have this amp for years and I know how it works specially with a band. The post control have to be more than 4, anything below will not push the power tubes correctly and sound a little fuzzy, the pre control should not be over than 6 if your are the only guitar player in the band, if has another guitar player with you the pre control should not be over than 4, believe me.....fast riffs will not sound tight as it should be with another guitar and too much gain, tube amps need more volume to sound good that's why when you put the pre control at 4 will not sound heavy because the power section is not being pushed. Another tip (VERY IMPORTANT) if you don't have anything in the FX loop put something, anything, could be just a cable connected in the send and return , and should be enough, but why??? Because somehow you lost output signal....try it, put a cable between send and return and the amp will come alive, I don't know why this happens, but you should try I.
I totally agree with you man this is just a demo at home, not settings for gigs. I already know the fx loop boost it is called the "fx loop" jump trick (it's written in the description of the vid) and if you look at the description I wrote it as "the awesome trick!".. Anyway I really enjoyed this combo and than transformed it into a separate cab and head... Too bad not many people knew the amp with the fx loop jump, Peavey made a crucial error... Now i sold it and bought the 6505mh which is a really great mini head and light as a feathere! Thanks for your comments man!
A simple cable from the send to the return or a pedal ( a noisegate, boost..) plugged into the fx loop... As soon as you plug a cable you'll hear a difference. (more gain, more presence)..
Hey I'm not sure I understand what you mean in the description about the cable can you show me? Or can anyone clear that up for me because I cant help but imagine a cable plugged in 1 hole out into the next and that makes no sense to me lol
OK I know it seems weird but on this amp when you plug anything in the loop (a pedal or just a cable from the send to the return input) it makes it breathe, you gain more gain and more presence.. just try without and with: night and Day! It's an issue factory..It's called the "fx loop jump trick ". It also works on some valveking heads..
Just bought a peavey 6505+ 112 combo used, that I am using in my bedroom. I've noticed something about the amp that I don't know if it is normal or not: When I am using the crunch mode on the rhythm channel, It just gets so loud past 1 on the "pre" that I just can't push it further to get more distortion/crunch, no matter the level of the "post". Basically, this means that I simply can't use this channel to get the overdriven "Marshally" tones usually advertised on reviews. Additionally, the "pre" on the rhythm/crunch channel seems to act more as volume than a distortion nob, as if I move it slightly the volume will increase significantly. On the other hand, the post button doesn't seem to alter the volume unless I crank it. On the lead channel, it seems to acts as I was expecting: by moving the pre I get more distortion but not more volume, and by moving the post I get more volume Any thoughts on this?
The amp and just the guitar man nothing more... But here's a trick: plug a cable from the send to the return input and it adds more gain more presence...
@@greg24hoareau I didn't know this until we took my brother's to the amp shop for repair. Going through effects loop bypasses the first tube the way the amp is designed.
