just a sample of the mooer ge200 plugged into the fx loop of the orange micro dark with some metal riffs... the amp sim is the peavey 5150 with the peavey cab (stock ir) a noisegate, an od and an eq (vers important here to adjust the frequencies and especially the mids with my cab...

I have a Fender Mustang one I want to convert it to a head cut a couple of inches on each side and make a shorter from the chassis amp has a yellow wire I believe is ground is connected for the chassis board to the middle of the speakers terminal. If I disconnect the yellow wire do I connect it back to the chassis to make the amp work with an external cab please let me know.
Are you using an attenuator or does it really get this quiet?
@@kenjicarlos8402 no attenuator, possible at bedroom volume but this amp shines at 2 or 3...

@@greg24hoareau I didn't know this until we took my brother's to the amp shop for repair. Going through effects loop bypasses the first tube the way the amp is designed.

Is there a overdrive based on tube screamer?
There are 3 overdrives (sd1,sd2, turbo..), and also the blues driver which is the equivalent of a ts9 tubescreamer which could answer your question...There are many distortion pedals (metalzone, fuzz...) but the vintage overdrive based on the sd 1 is clearly the best for me.. Combined with a torpedo cab this old device really rocks...

what speakers are you using?
Stock speakers... the secret with this amp is to lower the trebles (form me 3,5) and krank the presence knob (at least 8 or 9 for bedroom volumes and 7 for gigs, before noon it does not affect the sound).
I love my Vox AC10 when I am playing my Blues, but man I think I need this in my life when I need to play my Metal lol..
Can you connect to an external speaker like the 1x12?
Yes, you can. There's the external input (i think it's 8 ohm but not sûre 'cause I no longer have this monster at home...).

At the back of the device...here it's the micro dark but it is the same for the dark terror...

Always had one of these, decided to get one of the new 6505 II 4x12 cabs to run it through and good lord it sounds absolutely tits especially with an EQ in the loop. Thats 6x12 inch speakers altogether, sounds massive.
Hopefully making the trade for my Marshall for one of these….

I'm sorry but I no longer have the 6505 +112 combo but i recorded some vids with the almost same eq settings... for me the 6505 is a little more harsh and tight but it lacks the lowend frequencies the 2x12 combo delivers...the 5150 combo with new tubes is a monster: the monolith of death!

@@WhoamI-ll7rk it's easier to turn the 6505+ into a head...And I wouldnt like to turn the 5150 into a head 'cause the eq is not in the front and I prefered to keep it like it was..

Greg I know you no longer have the Peavey combo but I cannot get my lead channel to come even close to the thumping bass. Would a re-tube help? I shifted all the pre amp tubes around with no improvement. Would the 6L6’s do anything to the overall high gain drive? I just can’t get this sound from my combo. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Ok first, new tubes is always a good thing but i think the secret of this combo lies in the presence knob ( before noon it does nothing)... you should better crank the presence and lower the trebles on this amp...try this setting: low 6,mids 2,5, trebles 4, presence 8,5 and résonance 7,5... for bedroom levels it's perfect for me...

Thank you for the info I’ll look into changing out the tubes and using these settings. Can I assume the Lead Pre is around noon and the Lead Post is around 1-2 for headroom levels

@@greg24hoareau Peavy make some good amps, but stay away from the Shefield speakers because they lack clarity.
The tone is just crushing. I've never heard a 5150 sound like that. Now I consider buying a 5150 combo and converting it to a head. Could you please make a demo using my settings?
Sorry man I dont have this amp anymore since "my" band split...but to me the secret of this amp is to crank the presence and lower the trebles which addsbad frequencies (it was confirmed by the designer and a great guitarist)... At bedroom volumes I wpuld recommend to set the presence at 8,5/9 and for gigs at 6/7...This is one of the best combo ever made for me...

I have this amp and love it. my reverb has to be cranked up almost full to hear it? what was wrong with yours and how did you fix it? thank you. I know pedal reverbs sound better but I would like to figure out what is wrong. Nice playing and sound. Thank. you
Sorry for the delay... mine didn't work. I disassembled the amp to see what was wrong...nothing but I put à great amount of deoxit on the springs and the inputs and it worked fine after that... Hope it could work on yours...

I've been thinking of doing this with mine. I have way to many combos taking up space. Would rather have a few cabs and more heads. Plus the 6505 is a beast for just having a single speaker.

It sounds like a Mesa Dual Rectfier. Did you think it too?
It sounds good enough to play metal stuff... Yes, not too far from a rectifier but I think the EMGs pickups help a lot.
Does this one have the Sheffield speakers?
Yes it does, these are the stock speakers.
