- The Tennessee Volunteers Football Team finished last season with a dominating win over Iowa and their top 5 defense. Now the spotlight is on talent QB Nico Iamaleava, Nico has talent and the supporting cast to turn the Vols into a SEC Juggernaut

Will the Vol’s be a juggernaut offensively this season ?
Juggernaut? Probably not
@@mgway4661 yall look good on paper
@@Between_the_numbers agreed, on paper the offense looks like it could be another 40ppg. But I doubt it’s as good as 2022. The good part though is the staff has prioritized defensive players in recruiting since they’ve been there and there’s markedly better talent on that side now.
@@TimSinard I am looking forward to seeing yall in action
I think if we can run the tempo around the level of the 22 season then a top 5 offense is possible. Problem is will Hazel be as effective at play calling & get the plays out as quick as Golesh did?? No matter what any of our fans say about Joe...the reason we played slower this past season was primarily due to Hazel being our OC for the first time. If you saw Joe in the 21 season, the offense didn't go as slow. Nico is gonna have to get the ball out quick imo b/c as good as Sampson is...he can't block an Instagram troll 🤷🏽♂️. #GOVOLS
Nico didn't have any turnovers and looked very comfortable scoring with ease against a top 5 defense in Iowa.
Right on
FINALLY WE ARE COMING. we got a glimpse of what it used to be with Hendon but now......😊 now we are coming for the our seat at the table again
Hell yeah !! CFB is fun when Tennessee is great !
@@Between_the_numbers oh absolutely It's been time. We are all here for it
Thanks for the love we don't play you guys this year. Good luck with Bama. By the way we have the best defensive line in the SEC this year also. Keep an eye on James Pierce this year because next year he will be playing on Sunday Go Vols!
Thanks 🙏🏾 Tennessee and OU fans have been very supportive and friendly on my channel nothing but respect for yalls fan base
He didn’t have the receivers in the Iowa game
Coming from an LSU fan? Respect bro
The whole reason I made this channel is to keep it real
I agree juggernaut you didn’t even mention WR Mike Matthews 5 star mvp Polynesian bowl ( Nico was mvp the year before) and Nico didn’t turn the ball over no fumbles or int he destroyed the 5th best defense 3 rushing 1 passing touchdowns he will be in the heisman race!
Apologies
I know he was an extra left tackle for LSU but just for him coming to Tennessee and helping protect Nico I will also be rooting for LSU this year because we for sure needed him. 😂
I actually don't mind LSU and I really enjoyed watching LSU the Joe burrow championship year.
You know what’s crazy ? I don’t mind rooting for Tennessee either and it’s because of Eric Berry one of my favorite safeties, Lance is a good one wish we could’ve kept him. He will be great for y’all. Good luck on the season.
@@Between_the_numbers Eric Berry was the man, and good luck to you all this season also. ✌🏼
Lance isn't just an "extra" left tackle on any team in the country. He could start anywhere he went, he just didn't feel at home in Louisiana like he did at UT. I also pull for LSU when they're playing anyone besides UT.
Great video man go Vols
Appreciate it
Yes you butchered Nico’s name…. Prounounced Like Ian…. IA - Ma - LEE- Ah -Va.
good podcast nonetheless!
Thanks brother
People forget, Hooker was not a pro-style QB. He was a dual whom whose passing game was coached up by Heupel. Hooker didn't play any spread offense in his entire career until he got to TN. Nico has played in a form of spread since he was 8 years old and is a pro-style, which is what this offense thrives on the most and pro-style QB's is what Heupel has used primarily and almost exclusively his entire coaching career, with the exception of Hooker. So, I would not be shocked if NIco's passing numbers are greater than Hookers either this year or the next. It's almost expected.
The offense should score 40 or just over per game this year but for me, the defense will be why they win 10 or 11 in the regular season.
A elite Tennessee team is great for the SEC !
Nico Eee-yah-molly-ah-va
Our defense is making a huuuge jump too just as much as our offense is
Vols are not dark horses they can definitely be a contender for the SEC
I don’t know what yall got on the defensive side of the ball but if it’s equivalent or worse than what yall had when Hooker was there… then idk haha
@@Between_the_numbersour defense has improved every year under Huepel/Banks. We had top 25 scoring defense last year.
James Pearce (edge) is projected as the first player taken in next years draft being a down year for QBs
@@mgway4661right on I am going to go check him out now.. thanks for the heads up
Probably not an SEC contender, but definitely a playoff contender.
The D is actually going to be a beast this year (check the D line), so please keep everyone's eyes on our O, thank you! :)
Defense will be better than the Offense, but the O will get the spotlight
Vols got some tough games in 24 but sec is the best ball....nico is the key and some defense improves..Georgia and Texas and Alabama is still good football
The SEC always pull for SEC teams but we do never talk about that.
I like Nico’s ability to play “backyard football” he has a very high ceiling. I won’t say we are going to be a juggernaut. Still some things that need to be seen on the O-line (specifically LG).. Tight ends are solid but new to the system. WR’s had a down year in 2023.. but plenty of talent there
Ultimately I worry about offensive play calling. It was very vanilla last year
Maybe they didn’t have faith in Milton
They definitely didn't have faith in Milton
Nico nor the offense has any turnovers vs Iowa. Nico had 1 passing TD and 3 rushing TD’s.
Good job, good vid, +1
Thanks for the visit
Tennessee s dl goes 16 deep with a true running qb they could do murder ball
🤝
Deepest Tenn DL maybe in my lifetime…. Best Tenn defensive line since probably 2001.
@@TimSinard its really solid
Your info and understanding of an opposing team is very impressive. I don't know quite as much as you do about other teams in the SEC. Keep doing this content and continually improving the production quality because your vision and knowledge is very impressive. If you keep doing this on a consistent basis, you will eventually find your voice/ presence to match your research.
I appreciate that! That really means a lot boss !
Why, the same as every preseason. They think they are grest til the ball is kicked off in August.
Hahahahaha
Great channel and subbed. Thanks for this and look forward to your future breakdowns.
Thanks
Great to listen to commentary on different teams across the SEC. Appreciate this channel! To "@scratchacrossamerica": The Vols will not be irrelevant. I can say with confidence that each team that plays them in 2024 will NOT consider them irrelevant! They may lose three games as you predict. Then too, every team in the SEC could easily lose three games in 2024. Look at the lineup of the SEC for goodness sakes. Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia, a rising Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Missouri (11-win season last year), Kentucky (super 5* QB), etc... Texas could lose three, Alabama could lose three, OU could lose three and no one would say...well, that was a total shock! Probably only Georgia can safely say they won't lose three. But two losses are not out of the possibility for GEORGIA...GEORGIA!!!, and that's not including the championship brackets. So, your three loss "prediction" does not make UT irrelevant. I suspect they will lose 1-3 this year. However, they are definitely getting back towards the top of a loaded league. Finally, every fan of every SEC team is looking at their schedule and shaking their head mumbling the words: Good lord what a schedule. As much as I AM NOT a Gator fan, I cannot help but pass the offering plate for their sake with their schedule. That one is insane. So, every team in the SEC except the bottom four (SC, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State) is RELEVANT this year. Even one of the bottom four could surprise. If I had to pick one of them it would be Arkansas as they had several close losses last year.
Appreciate the support and this will truly be a interesting season this year in the SEC
Hog fan here. We will suck again. Nothing to look at with us. Another year another embarrassing letdown of a season. 4-8 most likely
As great as our offensive potential should be I think we will have one of if not best d-line in the nation.
That’s what I keep hearing
Ee-ah-mall-lay-ah-va.
Polynesian name.
Cool
Gonna be similar to 2022. More talent than the 2022 team. By far. Go Big Damn Orange!!! Nico is gonna be a stud. Then Chris Brazzel, Squirrel, Bru, Thornton, etc etc. Staes and Davis at TE, Sampson, Seldon, and Probably Peyton Lewis as your 3rd back. The talent is there. If we put it all together they can be better than the 2022 team.
Josh got you guys in the right place!
@@Between_the_numbers I wasn’t sure about the hire when he first got hired, but once I watched the 2021 season I knew he was the guy. The way he had them playing with that depleted roster in 21 was a hell of a job. Once he gets the depth he needs ( I think we’re close to being there now) it could be dangerous.
@@Drewski423 man yall beat the piss out of us that one year I was swinging at air haha
@@Between_the_numbers I had the 2022 LSU game penciled in as a loss in all honesty. When we won that one I knew we had something.
Ee Ah Mali I’va
Thanks 😊 love the Tennessee fans
Tennessee will be irrelevant
That’s a lazy comment
@@Between_the_numbers it was a lazy podcast
😣😣😣😣

@@nolatone I can comment what I please. Aren't you gonna chastise him for calling my comment lazy?
Your wrong brother they are losing their starting a qb to the nfl and I see them losing 5 games in the sec this year
Nico is more talented than both Hendon Hooker and Joe Milton
Which 5 games are the VOLS losing??
Which 5??
Nico is our starter now he is the real deal Tennessee could lose 5 but it'll be more like 2 or 3 lose to Georgia and maybe either Oklahoma on road or home to Bama but I'm gonna say only to Georgia
Nico is our starting QB - he's not going to the NFL this year.
