I'm from Dutch Harbor, AK, and since Ravn went bankrupt we've had to either take charters or go through Cold Bay to get to Anchorage. I took a Grant Aviation KingAir 200 (9 passenger maximum) flight to Cold Bay, and then took Alaska Airlines from Cold Bay to Anchorage. Alaska Airlines has gone to Adak twice a week for years, and after Ravn/Pen Air's bankruptcy, Alaska Airlines added a stop in Cold Bay to and from Adak. This helps Cold Bay residents, and residents from other cities like mine. I'm very grateful for Alaska Airlines and Grant Aviation. Also, Cold Bay has a new terminal that is much nicer than the one in here in February (I think they opened it in May), and since TSA has no x-ray machine the agents have to search all bags by hand. It sounds complicated, but it was such a great experience and I had a 7 hour layover so I was able to explore that beautiful and friendly town. :)
This is one of best performance that I’ve ever seen on youtube!!!! Great Adventure in Alaska!!!! In fact, I was watching “Deadiest Catch” and “Ice Truckers” on Discovery Channel on TV. Both of show were in Alaska. Tough State in USA 🇺🇸
Thanks for another great flight Quintin....looks bloody cold out there !! Such stunning scenery !! I can see why it is called Cold Bay !! Thanks again mate...really enjoyed the flights !!
Two years later..... First time I've seen this video, along with the Ravn Air videos. Really cool material. Flying the Regional turbo-props is always a fun adventure. Thanks for putting this material together. Will watch your Milk Run on AK (or is it - AS?) next. Cheers.
That Coast Guard unit must be special, because it is not even listed on the district's website the only air stations are in Sitka, Kodiak, and Cordova. Beautiful scenes.
this Q re-view is brought to you by Coke with ice...and a cookie. this video is what I refer to as a Q gem. the great photography and editing make it a joy to watch and it is quickly climbing the charts to be one of my favorites. So after you give it a view hit the like and sub buttons. Well done Quebec Foxtrot Sierra and thanks for sharing!!!
This is fantastic news! I hope they actually receive it, and, I doubt it'll last them enough before they'll need more to remain operative after this shut down is ended. But, it is a start!
dude you can travel to Brazil, after the pamdemy. I live here near the equator and I like your channel a lot I'm writing this through google translator.
I am flying to Anchorage Alaska from Fresno California to visit my sister and her family I am looking forward to this trip on Alaska Airlines thank you Mike Principe
Epic video there Q, I really enjoyed that. Brilliantly researched, edited and produced. De-icing was essential for that trip then. It’s such a shame the COVID-19 Pandemic has decimated the airline industry as a whole, but it’s been particularly bad for the smaller carriers like PenAir. Thank you for putting this one together. RgY ✌️💯👍🏴
Been really enjoying this content, sometimes the algorithms get it right! Nice work QFS. Can I ask where you get your music? I’d like to know that the smooth jazz piece around the 15 min mark was? Keep up the content!
Being an aviation junky I never knew Saab made aircraft!!!! Between watching your video and doing some research after I can say this aircraft is very solid and great quality! It also looks nice and has very clean lines, how was the engine noise and the ride if I may ask? Great video!
Sorry to bother you. I love all your videos and I have a tiny tiny tiny suggestion. Why not mention in each of your videos which runway number you take off and land? Good idea??
You've flown on the plane I've taken to and from Dutch Harbor a lot, and been in the same areas of ANC. I've spent more time there than any other airport, and I've stopped in Sand Point and Cold Bay for fuel on the way to Dutch Harbor. I'd highly recommend visiting Dutch Harbor.
@@moderatesforamerica1 we used to have incredible pilots come out here that had several hundred hours of experience before they were even allowed to fly and I trusted them completely. When Ravn took over, they had some pilots come out here who clearly weren't ready, and it resulted in a Saab 2000 sliding off the runway, killing 1 passenger. Most Ravn pilots are great, but Ravn is a terribly managed airline.
Update: Ravn air and its subsidiaries: Corvus Airlines and PenAir declared Chapter 11, laid off all staff and seized all operations. Its assets were auctioned off. The Ravn Connect Part 135 airline was sold off, in pieces, to local small airlines. The larger PenAir and Corvus part 121 assets and operations were sold to a California start-up FLOAT shuttle. FLOAT has renamed Corvus as Northern Pacific Airways, transferred 10 Dash-8-100s to it and purchased one Dash-8-300. They are all being operated in Alaska under the brand name Ravn, serving 11 destinations. Northern Pacific Airways is also planned to start low-cost US-Mexico flights on 757s it’s acquiring from American. PenAir operated a fleet of Saab 340s and 2000s, mostly as a contracted feeder for Alaska Air. It has been ending those operations for about 7 years, gradually reducing its fleet. Out of the 4 Saabs (all 2000s) the airline had in operation in 2020, all were leased from Jetstream Aviation. The 5th had crashed in Unalaska in 2019, suffering a total loss. All 4 remaining aircraft were returned to the lessor as per bankruptcy procedures.
good report :) sad for this company :(...the Saab 2000 is a good and beautiful regional plane crusing about 700 km/h nearly a regional jet 20 years agoo :)
did you talk to any of the penair staff whether their planes carry any cargo to supply these hostile cities? if yes, what were they carrying mostly? please educate me
I doubt that the US and bankruptcy court will allow Raven to go bankrupt because it is mainly subsidized by the Fed and state of Alaska, and serves its purpose of connecting the Alaskan villages to the main land . I am almost positive they will find out a way to appropriate some money as bankruptcy would mean a cut in the supply lines of these villages, and under any circumstances, it is very difficult for such an airlines to be profitable

I thought ice truckers was filmed in Canada
David Harris , it was originally film in Canada. Later on, they filmed in Alaska. Afterward, truckers went back to Canada again.
Thanks for another great flight Quintin....looks bloody cold out there !! Such stunning scenery !! I can see why it is called Cold Bay !! Thanks again mate...really enjoyed the flights !!
Watching from New Zealand. An enjoyable flight on one of my favourite aircraft. Many thanks for sharing!
I was stationed in cold bay on a one year army tour of duty back in 1957. Have always wanted to go back and fish and hunt. Thanks for the video.

Awesome! I love Alaska! And so much fun flying these kinds of routes and planes! Thanks!
That Coast Guard unit must be special, because it is not even listed on the district's website the only air stations are in Sitka, Kodiak, and Cordova. Beautiful scenes.
It’s a branch of the Kodiak station
That Saab 2000 is a fellow Swede! I was born in Stockholm, Sweden and the plane, as you mentioned, was built in Linköping.
Great video as always I’m an Alaskan haven’t tried them out yet if they come back I will definitely try thrm
Love these vids with smaller less known airlines in far off locations, very cool to see.
Breathtakingly stunning. Many thanks for sharing this.
Very cool video of an exotic airline! The views of Alaska are simply stunning =D
If you ever want to stay longer and during more “warmer” times, youre welcome to stay at cold bay lodge anytime!
I'm planning on visiting Cold Bay for a day or two in the fall! I'd love to. Cool and friendly little place

It’s really cool to see a regional airport in the state of Alaska & the neat scenery of it, as well. 😃
It looks as if Ravn Air Group was approved to receive 31 million!
Really? Yay
This is fantastic news! I hope they actually receive it, and, I doubt it'll last them enough before they'll need more to remain operative after this shut down is ended. But, it is a start!

Former Hendrick Motorsports A/C were flown by the raceteam and lovingly cared for. They now use the ERJ's.
Nice video! Thank you so much for sharing, I hope to visit the Alaskan villages like barrow, prudhoe bay and Nome some day 😩
Bravo Felicitări my frends zbor plăcut
excellent trip report!
Enjoyable video. I wonder how often trans-Pacific flights are forced to divert to Cold Bay. I don't imagine it happens very often.
Maybe a few times a year, from all the news stories I’ve read
Beautiful video!

So true Dutch Harbor is awesome the airport is terrifying though...

Are you planning on flying into DUT at any point? I hear it is a fun landing
9:54 Aww, this is cute ~~~~
Those Saabs were great planes. jet speed with Turboprop economy. Never understood why they didnt do better.
Suggestion you should definitely do more Face shots, plus Voice too. Cam video of the plane and its Props very good. And the cold mtn ranges also❄
They also fly to Dutch Harbor as Well nonstop from Anchorage
what program edition do u use for editing your videos?
Nice video keep it up
Поддержка✈👍
SAAB 2000 Operators:
Pen Air (USA) - 5
Eastern Airways (UK) - 4
Air Leap (Sweden) - 1 (Operated by Sveaflyg Scandinavia)
All grounded
Great vid
This is probably gonna sound like a stupid question but if your on a round trip why are you legally not allowed to touch the ground at sand point ??
QFS Aviation fair enough, just curios is all, was nice of her to let you do that right enough, thank you for your reply.
Cold Bay? It should change to FROZEN BAY, shouldn't it? Thanks for sharing!
good report :) sad for this company :(...the Saab 2000 is a good and beautiful regional plane crusing about 700 km/h nearly a regional jet 20 years agoo :)
I don't know what your reasoning for flying to places in Alaska, but you should fly Alaska air transit to McGrath on the PC12 JUST FOR The heck of it
Скажите пожалуйста сколько стоит этот красавец, самолёт?
Awesome!
Yea
Have you ever left your electronics case in an airplane trunk?
Затраты 35000$ или я что-то не понял?
did you talk to any of the penair staff whether their planes carry any cargo to supply these hostile cities? if yes, what were they carrying mostly? please educate me
Can u fly out of LGA with SWA u won’t regret it

From one desolate place to another. Oil is the only reason it is populated besides the eskimos.
Bless you little aero dweeb!
Unusual to use a forklift to deice an airplane.
Save ravanalska!
All this video did was reinforce the fact that I need to go to Alaska.
