All people on the farm helped out in ways they could.
Raising the children was NOT given to grandmothers "to free up stronger women."
Besides, today is not 'days of yore,' where some farm person needs a babysitter for a young one, so they can go work in the field.
If someone carries that ideology, they're quite out of tune with today's rights.
Every family can decide how things work best for them, and not everyone is living off grid, being self-sustainable, and not attending schools.
There is NO obligation for "post-menopausal women"" to drop everything, to help care for their grandchildren.

My theory on where his hatred for women began…when, in his youth, upon realizing he was more interested in his male friends than his female friends, his Mamaw sat him down and “set him straight” on that feeling. From then on, hatred for women, LGBTQ and anyone who is able to be their authentic selves has garnered his hatred and disdain.
Sadly living his existence by spewing hate for those who are free to be themselves.

It's very simple. Vance needs therapy to process his childhood trauma. The child tax credit that he pretends to support but didn't bother to actually vote for, is exactly for helping families manage childcare and work in the way that fits their family best. Many a father and grandfather also takes time off work for child rearing and everyone in society benefits.

My dad’s mother mentally and physically and verbally abused my dad. She was verbally abusive to her grandchildren. She was horrible to us. When I moved for a job after graduate school, I made my family promise that they would not tell her my new address or phone number! It was my best decision in life. I saw her twice after that. She died at age 105. At least in those last 10 years she forgot who my mom was and that she hated my mom During those last years she was pleasant to my mom. Unfortunately she still knew who my aunt was and continued to verbally abuse her to the end. She was a horrible person, but my mom wanted us all to keep in touch with her after my dad died because she was family. Finally when I was in high school my mom’s mom told my mom not to take us over to see her because we came back really upset each time we visited my dad’s mom. No wonder my dad didn’t like visiting his mom.
105 years to make other people unhappy, insulted, belittled. She, herself, could have been treated that way when she was young. Very sad.

If JD wants women to be able to choose to stay home to raise kids, men need to be able to support them. They can't, and sometimes won't. We need our economic independence to be secure in the world.

If the role of a mother is to stay home and care for the children, why didn’t JD make his wife quit her job and raise the baby? Most of us have no choice but to be a two income household. And many people don’t have parents who can afford to drop everything to care for a grandchild. Not to mention the loss of time paying in to one’s Social Security which affects their retirement benefits later. How many people have parents who can take a sabbatical? I’m in my 60’s and have never known anyone with that as an option. It’s just absurd.

My working class mother was unable to take a "sabbatical" sadly. I was on my own from day one and my husband was useless - this was way back in the 60's. My husband and I agreed from day one, our kid(s) would never be left alone with my mother. She was an abusive alcoholic, and I wasn't going to subject my kids with what I had to deal with as a child. But we never got the chance to have children, he passed during the Gulf War at age 26. 🤟🏻💙

I had the kids with my then husband, we where suppose too take care of them. Grandparents are for going to visit or coming to visit and spoil them a little.
