I’m the sister of a 28 year Army veteran. Two tours in Vietnam to include the Tet Offense. I’m so proud of him and his service to the country. He retired as Sergeant Major the highest enlisted rank in the Army. 45 the draft dodger isn’t qualified to tie his shoes.

M of H recipients usually did something heroic to save the lives if his fellows troops. I saw a M of H Medal awarded to a Cherokee ( WWII) on display in the museum of the Eastern Band Cherokee on the Qualla Boundary, Swain County, Western North Carolina. I'm not a pro-military person either but WWII was a different war in that we were fighting Fascist Hitler's Germany, etc... I'm a first generation baby boomer and all the wars in my lifetime could've been dealt with in another way and some the US didn' t need to be involve.

I live in San Diego and I see veterans all day long here. Some are doing well and some are not but they gave up so much to defend our country and deserve our respect and more.
Same here, I live right next to Poway, in Rancho Penasquitos. There're 3 former marines living right on my street, and one of them has a son that just left for basic training - he's continuing what has become a family military heritage that started with his great-granddad in WW1.

But at the VA clinic where I go I see old men from Korea and Vietnam (not much WWII any more), limping along with their oxygen tanks and I think of what strong men they once were. Humbling to have the slightest bit in common with them.

Veterans are a large variety. Like with everything else in life, there are some excellent, good, and bad. Most vets who support donvict are the type who would abandon their unit in the heat of a firefight if it meant saving their own skin.

I served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. I was prideful and grateful to be part of such a magnificent organization. Even today, when I go to the V.A. medical clinic, being among other veterans evoke the feeling of pride and sense of belonging to a very special group of people. The military instilled in me, a sense of tolerance, patience and discipline that I will forever be thankful for. For anyone to denigrate the U.S. Military soldiers is sickening and are not loyal to his/her country.

M of H recipients usually did something heroic to save the lives if his fellows troops. I'm not a pro-military person either but WWII was a different war in that we were fighting Fascist Hitler's Germany, etc... I'm a first generation baby boomer and all the wars in my lifetime could've been dealt with in another way and some the US didn' t need to be involve.

Same here, I live right next to Poway, in Rancho Penasquitos. There're 3 former marines living right on my street, and one of them has a son that just left for basic training - he's continuing what has become a family military heritage that started with his great-granddad in WW1.

But at the VA clinic where I go I see old men from Korea and Vietnam (not much WWII any more), limping along with their oxygen tanks and I think of what strong men they once were.

I served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. I was prideful and grateful to be part of such a magnificent organization. Even today, when I go to the V.A. medical clinic, being among other veterans evoke the feeling of pride and sense of belonging to a very special group of people. The military instilled in me, a sense of tolerance, patience and discipline that I will forever be thankful for. For anyone to denigrate the U.S. Military soldiers is sickening and are not loyal to his/her country.

As important as the presidential race is, Congress and Senate are just as important. We need Democratic supermajorities to over-ride the Republican obstructionism advantage. Voters get angry when things don't happen in Congress, but they need to understand that our system of government, massively favors political inertia.
