- While lurking on IG one day, we saw a post by Tom Karangelov sharing rumors about a skate spot in Orange County and its supposed ties to Satanism. We were dubious of the claims at first but were dying to learn more, so we got to digging.
We won’t spoil too much more and hope you enjoy our little journey into The Devil's Playground.

I love this kind of shit. Architecture and skateboarding are anyway interesting how they interact, but throw in some mysterious folklore and it becomes very compelling for sure.

Its a cobra. Pyramid represents the head(or brain, whatever), the river slit represents the body(rocks suppose to emit the scales of a snake) and what was thought for as the heart is the tail. The walls surrounding it represents the entrapment of the devil/serpent on this earth, when cast down from heaven. Hence the little garden where the snake resided in the time of adam and eve. Basically, the facade of "the beauty that lies beneath".

This has always been my secret gem where I would come by myself or take my daughter so she could write her thoughts in her journal. It feels like you are in a completely different world, even 15 mins was a nice reset b4 going home after work or just returning home from that 15 min visit.
You know they shut and lock the iron gates I believe at 7pm, but the office buildings are 24-7 for employees, so you can go through the parking structure and on the 2nd level go to the stairwell go down it open the door and poof your in the garden!! I hangout on the bench at the top of the grass hill lined by Tall Pine trees on both sides. It’s fun checking out your shadow when you walk past the lights beaming on the concrete parking structure too!! I miss living near a lot.
Honestly, if someone were to tell me that the place was good spiritually, without any context, I could look at it in that light as well. I feel like the mind sees what it wants.

I grew up a little skate/goth/metal kid in Costa Mesa late 90’s, and always heard the satanic rumors of that spot and how it mapped out a pentagram. No Google maps or earth back then. We thought it was cool.

Bullshit. There's an abundance of Satanic imagery in skateboard culture. It started with Fausto of Independent and others from the Venice (Dogtown) scene. Fausto means "Faust" as in the old character who sold his soul to the Devil. It's on the Thrasher logo. They used the old Nazi cross, what bullshit. Make art and skate, skate and create, by all means. Skate and "destroy>?" Yeah, destroy lives.

The way the lightning is set on Mark's interview part is almost as if the whole spot is a liminal place of some sort. As if it was added later as a background. Like the odd places you see on these liminal space compilations. Eerie vibe kinda, even through the screen. (11:35)

Magical time is watching the garden turn lights on and is dusk to twilight than night. They have bright lights on the ground spaced out to shine on the concrete parking structure, so when you walk in front of them your shadow gets large and tall to normal height till you get to the next one. You just feel like your nowhere you’ve been b4 and you feel amazing even after just 15mins🌺

The first time I went to Noguchi Garden was in the back of this produce market in Kansas City which was about as close to Las Vegas as the Midwestern bosses go without getting themselves arrested. I mean, nobody even knew. One guy even made his mother do all the cooking.

I heard about this back in the early 90’s; Anton, the buildings and the pentagram. I stole a 13th floor sign from one of the buildings. I used to skate with Josh Beagle every once in a while, could be who I heard it from.

I want to point out, the pentagram only appears in the satellite shot when it is completely upside down from what we would expect, that is, where north is on the bottom and south is on the top. I looked at G Maps of course to see. So, is it a pentagram or a star? What's more, the satellite, bird's-eye view of the garden itself when shown is shown with north up and south down, as we would imagine in the larger Western culture if not beyond. So, even if for some reason south-centric, then why not both times? Regardless, such representations should be consistent in this regard, I might go as far to say. Whatever, great vid, and maybe I'm a bit on the ol' au. . . never mind.

Gotta be honest here, I’m a sucker for urban legends, especially when it involves an area where I’m from, but I felt like I was losing my IQ watching this. The pentagram was such a stretch and the 666 address was literally debunked in the video. The dumbest part was the when the dude was going around asking people if the place was haunted and everyone said no. Like at least ask a better question. You’re investigating if a place is satanic and has connections to the occult and you’re going around asking people about spooky ghosts?? And then they have a lead on getting to ask the bellman who’s been working here for 40+ years and they don’t even pursue it. This video just felt like if an OC stoner with a rich dad made a school project for high school. I’ve lived in this area for 20+ years and never heard any myths about this place. Ed was spot on in the end saying that OC is so devoid of public art that people are bound to make up myths to keep their boring suburban life’s interesting.

In the 90s I visited this place with some friends at night. They called it devils park. We all hung out at the pyramid and called it the horn. We didn't know the connection how the "devil" was involved. I just remember it was summer and it was around 11pm and the pyramid was still warm. Guessing from the sun but it was surprisingly still warm.

American sees modern public art: is this satan?
Where I'm from in Vancouver WA they say the courthouse & jail are in the shape of a pentagram. They also say the Free Mason's used to hold their meetings there way back before it became the jail. The judges there are all Free Mason's as well. The zip code for it is 98666! Lots of suicides there & I've been nailed there myself a handful of times & it feels very dark & evil on that jail.
