Track 25/60 from Chrono Trigger the Musical!
Awakening from the raucous cavepeople's party, our heroes find the Gate Key stolen - first by Kino, Ayla's would-be lover, in a fit of jealousy, then by the Reptites, the dinosaur-like creatures at war with the humans. Needing the key to travel through time, Ayla accompanies Crono and Robo (the only two not hung over) to infiltrate the Reptite lair and find Azala, the Reptite leader.

Mother evolution may have chosen them, but so did bad luck, considering lavos falls DIRECTLY on their base. How unlucky is that?
I'm just thinking this up now, but what if Lavos did that on purpose? It's perception exists somewhat outside of time, so I can see Lavos being able to detect which species would be more malleable or had more useful genetics and then changing trajectory slightly to land on the one that wasn't.
Up to that point natural selection was favoring the older, more established race. Lavos' fall also created environmental changes that humans were more adapted to survive than Reptites.
@@BonaparteBardithion I completely believe that. That's exactly the kind of weird time bullshit that Lavos tends to pull. Too big of a coincidence that Lavos' fall happens to wipe out a species that would be less useful to it (and is seriously threatening a species very useful to it).
Makes you think: If Lavos didn't fall, would that mean that Humans never became the dominant species? Did Lavos make humans a favour?
@@CSLucasEpic If Lavos did this on purpose, then it was good for the humans, because they could survive more time in earth.

I don't know why, but I get such a show choir feel from this; much more than I do from the other songs. I guess it's because of their use of layered lyrics and overlapping chorus lines, both of which are done so well. I honestly can see the cast acting out the lyrics while singing it, looking all tribal and acting out portions of the lyrics to the beat!

Did you guys play StarCraft and Warcraft before composing the lyric? Because I was thinking of zerg and orc when I heard those words.
Okay, so the preview for this song came out while I was at a dance. I stepped away and listened to it and thought to myself, "This is more of a bop than more than half of the songs being played here."
Come to now with the full release of this song and my opinion hasn't changed. This should have been released early and played at the dance last night.
Melodiva's art is wonderful. I love that image of the Reptites dancing round the fire.
The ensemble is once again phenomenal. I can actually make out a few voices this time. The lyrics are still wonderful (favorites being: "We are the swarm, we are the horde, we are the talon, we are the sword!" and "One shall fall and it shall be you!").
In the end, I love the tribal feel of the song. Yet another great song from you guys. Now I've got to go memorize these lyrics.

It's here, the unexpected bop! Definitely one of my favorite songs, the piano line has SUCH a sinister tone to it and the chorus brings the energy. (So sad I couldn't record for this one) The layered vocals just bring it to life. Had a fun time drawing for this one!
I can't help but wonder after listening to this what it would have been like if reptites and humans just lived together instead of fighting each other. It would have been awesome if you had a reptite party member to fight against Lavos. But man did they get shafted, I don't think humans would have won had it not been for Lavos falling directly on their lair.
Supposedly, Lavos calculated exactly where and when to fall in order to wipe the Reptites entiry, as humans were more prone to manipulation.
@@JabamiLain I don't see any evidence of that in the game at all. Besides, the reptites are cold blooded, they would've died out during the ice age even without the crater hitting directly onto their capital, unless humans really went out of their way to keep them alive.
@@Lurdiak it's just some theories going around, and I find them to be pretty accurate with Lavos's MO.
Also, that's why I said when. I think Lavos was trying to calculate when the Reptite population would be small and spead out enough for them do die out in the ice age, because since they're the most advanced species of that time, they could have counter measures prepared in case they were in sufficient number and well placed.
I think Reptites were trying to wipe out humans in order to expand their territory and see if human territories could be used for protection from the Red star. Perhaps humans were closer to favorable heat sources.

TheAdvertisement I think it's alluding to the Black Tyranno Azala has enslaved and uses in his boss fight.
I like how the Reptites (or reptiles) got their own song. I guess the game makers used "Reptites" instead of "reptile" or "Reptila" probably because wanted a name for one of their groups of characters. The line, "Humans and Reptites, there's no room for two" caught my attention. I always wished there were room for two or more. In other words, I wish they could coexist. In the game, the Reptites called people "Apes," but I guess "humans" fit better with the song and makes it easier for people to understand.
I love this song. I love how the two halves of the chorus sing clashing melodies, and how they fit so well.
Whoever is doing that super deep voice in the chorus is AMAZING

As someone who’s never played Chrono trigger, this makes me want to.
This was fantastic. I know you dont take requests, and i know my idea wouldn't work, but at some point, i feel like you guys could somehow pull off a Stardew Valley musical. You did it with undertale, your doing it with Chrono Trigger, the last game i expected to be made into a musical, and you made it fantastic.

I love this song, especially the "we are the talon and the sword" part!
The vocals are a bit loud in the mix. You can't hear the background music on cheaper speakers unless it's between vocal sections. It's getting drowned out, which is a shame because the instrumental counter sounds awesome.
This is my first exposure to Chrono Trigger but here's what I've deduced:
Undertale: Never commit murder
Chrono Trigger: Literally just kill anything that stands in your way it's fine
I mean, that's *most* RPGs. Chrono Trigger is more like "Nothing is set in stone, so never give up".

Dang this song is catchy.... I'm going to be humming this all night now.
Okay, this is the SADDEST SONG IN THE MUSICAL THUS FAR! The entire thing is just dinosaurs, singing about the pride they have in the legacy of their species, saying that they will thrive, they will live forever…not knowing how nature and time, the VERY CONCEPTS THEY ARE PRAISING, will eventually bring an ice age to end their existence. And for the time being, they’re being attacked and killed by the humans they hate so much, and will live on while the entire reptite race is doomed to die! They just want to survive, but that’s not how history plays out. This song somehow takes what are supposed to be heartless monsters and turns them into desperate creatures who believe that it’s survival of the fittest, and that waging war is the only way to stay alive! But no matter what, they’re all going to perish.
I actually felt bad when I killed Azala and all Reptites and wondered if the two species could've coexisted in harmony.
