I am a SEAsian and after enjoying the beaches in Philippines and getting a really nice tan, I went to SK and omg the discrimination I faced was something I’ve never faced even after living in US for over a decade. It was the most prevalent when it came to taking the public transport. No taxis would stop when I hail them even though they were available. One time I went to a mom and pop restaurant and they made me pay before serving me, while Korean who came in were never made to pay immediately. These are not all I experienced, but it was enough for me to never ever want to go to Korea ever again

Unfortunately being a foreigner in Korea is always a struggle. They very much have an “us vs them” mentality, and everyone who’s not Korean (even mixed race Koreans!) is like their enemy. Even if they don’t hate you, they treat you like less than human, like you don’t exist in their society and they don’t care what happens to you. Thats cause you can't separate the two. Chinese people support their government cause they improved their lives every year.

I’m so sorry you had that experience 😢 i’ve been living in SK for around 7 years and unfortunately, racism toward other asian cultures and people is definitely real. I’ve seen it and heard it. It’s disgusting and upsetting. Like you said, it’s not everyone, but even just one experience is damaging. You are a lovely person and your makeover looks amazing ❤
