Oldman "Nailed" his Churchill's persona. That sceen in the"Underground" with Winston's interactions with the citizens, on the Car with him. Which he carried over to his climactic, Parliment Address.

While, from what Ive come across in admittedly a lazy googling, there is no evidence for that particular event in the underground unfortunately, I do love that there is very much evidence for him being the kind of guy to randomly disappear into the streets and turn up hours later at a pub or park having spent the day talking to the people. That, IMHO, is the sign of a great politician. Not operating for their own interests and trying to convince all those around them that their way is the correct way, but listening to the will of the people and acting to preserve the citizens ways of life for the betterment of all under his protection. Something sorely lacking in this day and age, and I very much am including those surrounded by the cults of personalities as well as crowds of sycophants clinging on to every hollow promise simply because the words sound pretty. Giving no thought to the existence of any actual actionable plan beyond hopeful rhetoric, much less a well thought out one not formed in the narrow assumption everyone will act as they are expected to (a form of tyranny by the way. As oppression can come from either side of the aisle, Ill take the person in the middle pissing everyone off....at least they have the balls to tell even their own side "thats too far, sit down and shut up, the adults are talking").
