Gary Oldman did the best portrayal to date of Churchill. It's hard to follow into the footsteps of the man himself and Robert Hardy, but he did it masterfully.
Incredible film on many levels, not least the performance of Gary Oldham. I have watched this movie several times and will watch it several more. If you want to watch a actor at the top of his game, watch The darkest hour, watch Gary Oldman..
I know the ride in the Tube didn't happen, but it's my favorite scene in the movie.

Absolutely top drawer, must see (more than once) movie!
For whatever it's worth, I just finished reading Erik Larson's 'The Splendid and The Vile', which I cannot recommend more strongly! The whole time, I was seeing, in my mind's eye, Gary Oldman's portrayal of Churchill.
Gary Oldman is OUR generation's Lon Chaney (Sr) and should be cast as the legendary "Man Of A Thousand Faces" in a reboot of the biopic of the same title, where James Cagney played the role of the late Chaney in the 50's.
Darkest hour would not have been a success without out Gary oldman he was born to play Churchill
