Dan, you forgot about the Jesuit missions in South America. They established a system that rivalled the colonial Portuguese and the Portuguese went after them. See the film based on a true story: The Mission.
Phenomenal video. Your videos have been top views in my book lately. Is it possible to elaborate more on the objectives, theological rationale and strategies of Catholic missionaries? In addition, there’s almost no apologetics or videos that compare Protestant and Catholic missionary work. Would be especially interesting!
I had the opportunity to visit the headquarters of the Missions étrangères in Paris and venerate some relics of the Martyrs of Vietnam. There is an exhibit there displaying artifacts from all the places where the missioners worked. It is also a good place to stay if you are on a budget and RC.
I personally want to really support the Conversion of the Hebrews to the Faith in Christ .Praying for Saint James the Lesser's intercession . I also pray for Saint James for the Pan-Hispanic unity and Saint Peter for Pan-Latin Unity . They never would have imagined that they would become Fathers of Nations .
The Oblates were to be found everywhere or almost everywhere in Canada. They worked with the native peoples and also immigrant communities such as Germans and Poles.
You are very wrong about the SSPX. One of the bishops was re-excommunicated since he is the one who started the Sedavacantists. The lifting of the excommunications was a gesture of goodwill to bring them back into the fold. They rejected coming back in which means that they are automatically excommunicated. Likewise, the bishops of the SSPX are planning on ordaining more bishops as one has died. Without permission granted this would result in a second automatic excommunication. In other words, all doubt about their excommunication would be undisputed. The society itself is schismatic regardless of excommunications by the very fact that they operate outside of Rome's jurisdiction. To claim that the German conference of bishops is more in schism than the SSPX is a lie. For one thing, their are still faithful bishops in Germany. Yes, many German bishops have the heart of schism. But the SSPX is officially schismatic as they reject all practical authority from Rome other than when convenient. One cannot fulfill their Sunday obligation from attending an SSPX chapel since they are not in full communion with Rome/schism. I asked my local bishop this question to confirm. Ask yours if in doubt. Cardinal Burke has publicly said that the SSPX is in schism. The Orthodox are in schism and they also have faculties for confession. Pope Francis gave these faculties as an act of mercy for the sake of those lay people misled by the SSPX. Faculties to do weddings are for the same reason. The SSPX rejects Vatican II entirely. They claim that Rome has failed. They claim the Novus Ordo is objectively bad for the soul. They place doubt on modern canonizations and therefore celebrate no recently canonized saints. These are huge theological problems that are dangerous to the soul. Missionary zeal is great, but they are preaching a false doctrine of demons.
Another society that I admired was the Scalabrini fathers who were originally focused on serving Italians outside of Italy. Often these people lives in poor conditions and could not always afford to build a church and pay a priest. In Sarnia, Ontario the Scalabrini fathers were stationed at St. Peter's parish. Sadly the diocese of London sold the church (although there was an active congregation which had actually built the church with their own hands) because the diocese needed millions of dollars to pay off victims of clerical abuse and pay for legal fees. Two other churches were also sold off in Sarnia and numerous churches in the diocese elsewhere. It makes me sick to think of it. My brother went to the school attached to the parish and still has good memories of it.
there's no such things as theologically conservative or liberal. You're either right or wrong. This is not your two parties political entertainment nonsense.
@オルフェーヴルの夫 Actually, one can be theologically conservative or liberal. Yes, one is either right or wrong. But many theological questions have yet to be fully defined and that is the point of theological debate and inquiry, and the very way that many dogmas have been learned. What matters is that we accept the precepts of the faith and that all of our theological opinions remain within those boundaries.
I could not help but notice the emphasis on the poor and down and out people in the world. I wonder if it might be necessary to also have a missionary society focused on the rich and worldly. They need salvation too. Possibly they could start on the strip in Hollywood. I think that there was a church there dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament. That might be a good name...Missionaries of the Blessed Sacrament. The focus could be the rich young man of the Gospel.
All non-profits need to put on their websites their latest audit, or 1040 filing. Or the equivalent documents of the group's home. US Bishops, are you listening?
A famous missionary or charity priest where I live pridefully use money from donations for building pagans temple for pagans, and make video about it on social media, and people applause it lol lmao

This has been very interesting and instructive. Thank you.

Thank you for this introduction. I’m sorry I missed the beginning. Thanks for the work required to make this video.

Dan, did you mention about St. Thomas going to Uruguay in your talk about St. Thomas? I cannot remember.
We need another mission: The re-education of the Faith in.this country.
48:00 I thought only bishops could ordain? Why did Roy Bourgeois think he could ordain anyone, man or woman?

I was told that the Missionaries of the Holy Family are a good group. They are small, but evangelistic.
I hate to criticize but it isn't "X"avier. It is Zayvier.
If I was to join a religious order for long term missionary/evangelism work who should I join? I am theologically conservative and only speak English
You might find it useful to skip to 43:38 to observe my examination of the major modern English speaking missionary societies.
