Welcome to snarky puppy: a collection of incredibly talented and many Grammy award winning artists in an insane group. This video was part of the recording of their album "we like it here". Things to know,: the keyboard player is named Cory Henry and this is a once in a lifetime solo, the guy that got up and walked away is Grammy award winning jazz pianist Shawn Martin, Michael League is the bassist and band leader, the normal drummer, Sput, was unavailable so this was Larnell Lewis who learned the entire album on a 7 hour flight + 2 hours of rehearsal that morning. That covers the big points but they're all pretty amazing musicians with a ton of stories and accolades.

Check out the vid of 17 yo Domi playing by sight Cory Henry's transcribed solo of this, then Domi and JDBeck on part of a Zildjen Live performance from Mono Neon's channel. More instrumental fun.

Perfect summation. Saw them in London at the Apollo and by far the best live gig I’ve been to. And I’ve seen Prince, Ravi Shankar, The Rolling Stones, and many other incredible live bands. The energy was incredible. The whole crows singing along, it was an epic fucking night. Goosebumps thinking about it.

Check out the Russian version of Michael League's writing COMBINED with Corey Henry's level of playing in ONE PERSON... Valeriy Stepanov: Try "Hold Onto Hope" one of his compositions, played with his brother on bass, and the amazing Russian guitarist Roman Bondarenko... - th-cam.com/video/qq2tu-vAOns/w-d-xo.html
Stepanov's right hand has to be cybernetic to arpeggiate like that... This guy is somehow the world's best kept secret of Funky Jazz Fusion MASTERY as you'll find DOZENS of his compositions all with HOOK, and him playing with a who's who list from Bondarenko to Martin Miller and even Alex Hutchings as well as with Chick Corea before he passed away! He also does covers ranging from Lyle Mays to Michael Jackson!

That was the recording session. They played it together once for the recording and because they were including improvisation, they invited a studio audience to join in because the audience interaction is important for it not being a cold performance. So this is why everyone was using headphones, because the electric guitars and keyboards aren't actually making sounds in the room. All they would be able to hear are the drums and horns.

"You better get me Kenny G" - sorry, good sentiment, but think higher. Wayne Shorter. John Coltrane. Michael Brecker. Charlie Parker.
