I am a stroke survivor since 2019.. I go through various exercises from your videos.. I have recovered a lot but I can't bit the my social phobia.. When I walk lonely with no one around you can't even recognise that I am stroke patient. But when I go somewhere in public place or someone unknown person look at me my whole confidence shut down sometimes I feel I am loosing my balance little bit.. It occurs only for few seconds and I again back to my normal good condition.. I have recovered so much I am not depend on someone for my daily routine from morning wake up to night bed.. I when start walking and rotate my neck towards left or right my balance gets disturb.. Walking for straight neck has no problem.. Sometimes my right knee buckle as well not daily but sometimes.. I walk daily 8-9 KM and exercise as well.. Just help me to get rid of my social phobia and neck rotation walk issue.. I am right side hemepledgia patient but you can't recognise me that much I have recovered..

Dr. Tobias, you are amazing and I am so grateful that I found you! Who would have thought that arm movement was so pivotal for proper walking!
I had emergency spinal cord surgery in 2014 due to spinal cord compression in my cervical spine (had a laminectomy and fusion from C3-T4). There was a delay of diagnosis which, prior to the surgery, resulted in me getting progressively worse and worse to the point of being completely paralyzed. I did get feeling back slowly and had to re-learn how to shower, dress myself, tie my shoes, button my clothing, writing, etc. Basically all of the activities of daily living that we take for granted until we don't have them anymore!
Back in 2014, they didn't get you out of bed to walk right away and I was at Strong Hospital, which is part of the University of Rochester! Even while in the in-patient acute rehabilitation, there was barely an emphasis on having me actually walk or work towards it. Not bashing anyone but it's just sad that people end up believing they can't improve, get depressed and feel like giving up on themselves and possibly on living.
Also, despite being told by the surgeon and others that whatever function did not come back within 18 months to two years would never come back, I have continued to improve! Since then, I have gone from using a wheelchair to walker to two crutches and now use one crutch. I'm glad that I believed in myself beyond what the Dr's said I would be able to do!
The problem is finding someone like you in my area who knows the building blocks to getting back to walking and you have really helped me to understand better what I need to be doing!! Especially since I've yet to find a PT like you!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for truly caring about people and taking the time to make these quality videos to help them achieve better outcomes! It really does take a compassionate, empathetic person to want to help like you do! 🌞♥️

Thank you, Tara, for talking about those bad boy subscapularis muscles. I'm breaking out my ski poles slash walking sticks now that warmer weather is upon us. Will concentrate on keeping that group in check to keep from rolling the shoulder over and down. Love that chair exercise thrusting the hips out in front ahead of the shoulders. My posture was getting out of control.

After the last video about the dissociation, the exercises helped a lot, this winter I neglected those exercises a bit, it was obviously not enough and I kept my hand in my pocket while walking because of the cold. Now I feel the dissociation getting worse. Thanks for the new exercises, I need to fix that. Have a nice week

Thanks for your video's Tara. I started to hold my affected hand behind my back (with my other hand) when walking 6 months ago, and have managed to get my arm and shoulder abit open that way. It was akward and uncomfortable initially, but better now.

My daughter is 5 years old and she had a encephalitis in September 2021 and since then she has been recovered very well in 6 months however still she is having a little difficulties like shaking her left hand more compared to right one whenever she is trying to pick a ball or anything. Can you pls make a video on shaking hand movement to improve better or reply any exercise for the same ma’am.

Tara, on that last exercise with the trunk rotation, do we always press the opposing shoulder down (we rotate right and press the left shoulder down, we rotate left and press the right shoulder down)?

Tara, where can we find that dowel you're using here, Amazon? Also, pertaining to the elbow immobilizer, I bought it & tried putting it on, yet couldn't tighten the Velcro all the way because the Velcro's hook was facing the flesh of the arm (then, I returned it). Thus, the elbow wasn't immobilized. Did I put it on backwards/inside out or something?
