Another thing to keep in mind is if you buy a good quality lift from a good company such as BDS... They actually say right on their website they will fully cover the manufacturers warranty if the dealership won't take care of it! BDS cost a little more upfront, but IMO the peace of mind is well worth the extra money! Especially since bds kits are made so damn good and barely even change the ride or comfort of the truck being lifted!
My buddy had a leveling kit on a 2018 ram 2500 with 37” tires and had something on his transmission go out and they denied his claim saying the aftermarket rims tires and leveling kit caused the in needed stress on the transmission. He argued that he bought it from that exact dealership just like that and they still denied him.
Hey Ben excellent video on the subject. I’ve had numerous trucks in past but waited awhile before ripping into the suspension and installing suspension parts. It seems now guys have it done as soon as they drive off the lot. How about if you apply rust proofing to vehicle like a wax oil substance Fluid Film. Anything on this. Thanks
Can a dealership still sell me a warranty that won't cover the truck based off a lift kit even tho they knew the truck was lifted before selling it to me?
I had a 6 inch on my gmc....I took it in because rack and pinion was making a weird sound and they told me its warranty was voided because it had lift with 20" wheels on 35's..... they said it put more stress on the R& P..... smh (the truck was still within the 3yr 36k mile warranty)
@@bigc56b yup. ...but I found a different dealership that honored the warranty....I guess it all depends on dealership. There is a law called magnusus moss act that states the dealership has to prove that the customer lift, wheels and tires are the reason for malfunction. My new dealership told me if I ever run into that again I need to call GM directly and have them contact the dealership for them to honor..... it does suck but worth not having to pay for parts that should be covered. Hope this helps.
When the dealer does things like that typically the will hide a aftermarket warranty in the sticker price. Plus the components usually come with ther own warranty that's y oem parts like mopar aftermarket parts are so expensive
That's probably accurate but check with you vehicles manufacturer because they all have brands they work with for RAM magnaflow K&N and AEM all make manufacturer approved products and any good dealership will tell you if in comes in with stock parts they " cant prove " otherwise
Much more complex than this. Technically The Magnusson Act protects the consumer from the manufacturer when installing mods unless the manufacturer can prove that mod caused the failure. So its a grey area left up to a judge and jury in a trial. It can go either way based on arguments, evidence, and human error... most dealers will sell you a warranty that will allow you to lift up to 8 inches. If you get a 2-6 inch lift done professionally you should be okay but you never know. Toyota has no problem with 3 inch lifts installed professionally. They are a lil sketchy on 4-6 as they require the frame to be cut and modified. But a lot of dealers want to sell a warranty so bad they will cover any of the warranty problems as long as you buy their extra warranty. So for an extra 24 dollars a month you can have a 6in lift care free.
"Some manufacturers". Right. No Ford vehicles in video. FORD will VOID your warranty, based upon THEIR criteria, not customer's opinion. Best to wait for expiration of warranty.
@@BenHardyCars so if I add the spacers and changed the upper control arms I'm fuckdd ? Cause I hear the ram 1500 if you dont level it right your ucas like break due to the angle so you gotta get the proper kit with upper control arms

Thanks for the info Ben I’m getting ready to get my truck lifted and I wasn’t sure about the warranty the truck is only a year old .
What if you do a 2 1/2 inch spacer lift kit, without replacing the springs and shocks. Basically like a leveling kit , but for the front and back
Did you find out? I did a 2.5 inch puck (spacer) today
Super helpful. Short and sweet.
Unless you’re driving a Toyota. Check out some videos out now on just putting a shim on. IT VOIDED ALL TOYOTA WARRANTIES! Crazy……

I did a 2.5 inch puck will i have any issues with the warranty? Would they seriously measure the puck to check the .5 of an inch?

What happens if ur truck came with a aftermarket warranty u bought after ur factory warranty expired
Info I was looking for thanks

Really? What ended up coming out of it? Did you have to pay out of pocket? I’m about to lift my 2019 GMC Sierra and now I’m second guessing it...

So if the dealer installs the lift on a new truck, will they honor the warranty?

Got it, thanks.
Will an exhaust ruin the warranty? A mechanic told me a cat back exhaust only wont..?

Good info Ben
Thanks!
So I have a 2017 ram 1500, if I level it 2in and change the ucas will it void the warranty?
Victor Ortega if you just add a puck, then no

@@BenHardyCars what installing Bilstein coil overs to level? And new UCAs? Will that void any drain train work?
it can. puck are really damage the top of your shocks and they will not cover that
