Thank you Ian for your efforts over many years to keep steam history alive in New Zealand. Also for getting a team together to do what is necessary to repair, run and keep your vision alive.
I'm infinitely grateful for Ian and all those at Mainline Steam for their work towards preserving steam locomotives. One day I hope to see KB968 to be fully restored to mainline running condition
Can't wait to be allowed back into New Zealand, I've had the pleasure of meeting Ian Welch at his Plimmerton workshops where he was kind enough to give me a tour. I really enjoyed this video, thanks for uploading it to TH-cam.
Great Video, a very professional production, well balanced and straight forward! one of the most interesting two hours I have had for a while! thanks for sharing
I wonder who the 3rd partner was, that didn't contribute a penny towards the cost of the loco that Ian bought when Steam Inc was founded but had plenty to say in the decision making. It couldn't have been Ewen McQueen? Surely not? Why wasn't the treasurer reprimanded for spending funds on her own grocery shopping?
Just like Ian Welch, who founded Steam Incorporated, I lasted only three months before before becoming totally frustrated with their nonsense and ultimately joining up with Mainline Steam 28 years ago.

I believe he spoke about my Grandfather Bill Hore, he passed away in 91. my father also worked for NZR as well
I used to live in a railway house right there in the early to mid 60's.
It is a good collection but it is not the largest collection in the world. There is a much larger set up in the USA.
Worlds biggest privately owned collection*
@@jaredwernell8753 Hi. Are you telling me MLS is the largest in the world, because it isn’t.
@@bigkiwimike as I mentioned largest privately own. Not by a trust but by an individual. Hope that clears things up.

Steam Incorporated for life
