Body shop owner here. Efficiency is what makes you money in about every industry. When I first took over the business I kept track of how many steps I was taking each day with the pedometer on my phone made it my goal to make those steps less and less each week for myself and my techs. That included buying duplicates of tools and materials so you aren't walking to one side of the shop for primer or a cleaning solution everything is near the tech's bay. Also if a tool or piece of equipment broke down look at repair vs replace cost and the labor to repair that tool. A rotary broke on us and it would be down for 2 days waiting on a switch and brushes then 30min to an hour to change out the parts once it came in. It was cheaper to just purchase a new rotary and have it same day from my jobber than paying a tech to walk back and forth and switch pads for a couple days then pay that tech to replace the parts. Also looking at the layout of your shop, if you have rearrange cars to get a finished one out or moved to the next bay you are leaving money on the table. Sometimes you just have to step back and re-evaluate to move forward.
I totally relate. Both to Levi's counting the cost per use (use it in different aspects of life) to having two Flex 3401s (one with big backing plate, one with smaller). Good video, guys. Hope it helps others think about those things
Hope Yvan doesn‘t travel all the way for just one video...so keep it coming, guys, great work! Love ONR and OPT Car Wax, but it is still hard to find here in Germany, so we have to spread the word!
Yvan, looking forward! How do you clean/maintain the Big red sponge? I use mine 2-3 times a month, ONR one bucket method, and it looks a bit filthy, dark stains etc
Oh man, I could do a detalks on just that!! But seriously what worked for me was moderation. I started by NOT smoking from 5:30 pm- 7:30 am (off work and home with my wife) M-F, once it wasn't an issue and I could do without the cigarette, I tried NOT smoking on the weekends also. This made it hard to smoke that first cigarette Monday morning. Finally I got down to about 5-10 cigarettes a day while only at work and chewing regular gum and it was easier to quit then. Cold turkey. The mental habit of needing a smoke at home was gone and I filled my work time with chewing gum. 12 years smoke free.
Here to answer any questions!
Do I have to rinse off power clean or can I ONR wash it off to save time / steps assuming 1:5 dilution.
Yvan, would you recommend using the same principles you spoke about but on a much smaller scale? Say someone doing details out of their home.
G Davis definitely, the time you save, the money you save is more for your family.
Yvan Lacroix Thank you! I always enjoy your TRC contributions.
boof gaming you are better to rinse Optimum Power Clean.

Tom K spray a bit of Optimum Power Clean into a damp sponge. Massage it in it will foam, then rinse well
Love the idea for the mats washing machine !
Which one you suggest, if I may ask.
Great contest btw
Dejan Triv do your research, there are many different options, if you can find one with local service, even better.

Whats the way to get rid of wax streaks that have dryed.
Kelly Mcculloch Optimum Car Wax streaks can be eliminated with Optimum Car Wax or Opti-Seal
detailer
And I thought I was crazy for using my Minx towels for dairy farming purposes.
G Davis smart!
Great video!
What’s the link to the mat machine? Seems tempting
Daniel Lech a few different companies make them.
