@@rollerbearding Same. Ive skated and rollerbladed since I was 3 or 4 but when I havent been on the ice for a while and I have rollerbladed im so wobbly
@@InvisibletodayHe’s actually completely correct. Not to mention bullet profile wheels which are basically wedges with a rounded end obviously. Those definitely have an edge/ edge adjacent face. So OP is correct. They just don’t behave exactly the same way as ice skate blades obviously Source: I’m also a rollerblader.
Spin stop works best for me and I’m 6ft 2inches. Putting that leg out far enough and balancing the weight is key. It sounds ridiculous until you do it.
Just learn how to stop properly with hockey skates, people (the one labelled as "hockey stop"). It takes practice and confidence to commit to the proper stop if you're new, but there's no better way to stop. The unfortunate part is it will be fairly hard to do without speed and confidence (which will come later). Once you're able to get speed, however, my recommendation is to start practicing the proper stop from a standstill. Hang on to the boards with your body parallel-ish. Just get used to what your front/strong skate should do, for now. Pivot body towards the boards. As you do this, try and turn your front/strong skate so your toe points towards the boards, moving it outward, away from your body at the same time, and also angling the skate down as you get close to perpendicular to the boards. Push hard as you get it out away from you and dig into the ice to the point where you really hear it digging. You want it to really dig in, and not stutter along / be choppy. Do this several times to get used to what that foot is doing. You can technically stop with just the one foot, but the focus on the front foot here is just to get your brain programmed as to what that foot will be doing. Don't worry about what the back foortdoes until you've figured out the front. It's job is essentially just to stay beside your front skate, same concept as front, but you're of course using the opposite edge of that skate for stopping. Anyways, learn that front foot from at a standstill, and it should help with your confidence a bit to do it at speed (and you will need some speed to stop this way). Wear padding :)
Since I'm a beginner I have issues doing the T-Stop, the foot that's vertical to the one facing forward would just completely stop while the other one keeps going lol Makes me do a split at best lmao
lean on your back foot more and don't let it drag back as much, try to dig the back edge of the back skate blade into the ice more if that makes any sense
I just do the t-stop 😂 it gets the job done but doesn't look the best. I taught a couple kids how to do it because they were intrested when they seen me do it
For your t-stop, how are you not using your outside edge?! *figure skater here* is it easier on hockey skates for inside edge t-stop compared to outside edge t-stop?
I like to show the T-Stop as a Drag Stop for beginners but yeah usually you stop with the outside edge! It is easier to use the inside edges for beginners
Me: *hits the wall*
😆😆
🤣🤣🤣🤣
can confirm, worked for me
I LOVE YOU PFP 😍✋️
hahaha sameee when i was a beginner
And then there’s the hood old fashioned one which is to fall
Ahh 😌 indeed! Just don’t hurt yourself
giggled at this
Hit the wall!
I actually laughed💀
Do a 180 and slam into the boards backwards lol
i always do the spin stop for some reason💀
🙌🏽 that’s a good way to stop
Same
Same idk how to spin like they move the leg and it moves easily but when I try my foot is stuck to the ground
@@olisman4636 rotate your back skate! Point your toe outward to have both your heels facing each out
@@rollerbearding thx
I'm the candidate for don't stop and crash the wall
😆😅 be careful tho
You can hurt your shoulder doing that if you’re going fast enough.
Dont extend your arms too much just hit it with your shoulder like a hockey check
Grabs onto wall
😄😅
Where is the good ol fashion ~*right into the wall*~
Will add it in another video 😅
As a figure skater spin and hockey stop is my favorite
Ahh very nice 🙌🏽
Also u can do the snowplow with one if its a bit easier
I always wanted to do the hockey stop but every time I try it's turned into a spin stop 😭
I have a tutorial on the hockey stop 🙌🏽
t is one of the easiest! When I stared to be honest I just grabbed onto the wall😂
😆🙌🏽
I can tell your a rollerblader from the way your skating. Its not bad it just looks like your more used to not having edges
been doing both since I was 4 years old actually. I think here its because I'm back on the ice after a long time on rollerblades
@@rollerbearding Same. Ive skated and rollerbladed since I was 3 or 4 but when I havent been on the ice for a while and I have rollerbladed im so wobbly

As for me, Derek Popke’s squatting T stop was the one that worked the best for my first time fearing of the ice. Cheers from Japan. 😊
Cheers! T-Stop was the first way I learned to stop on ice
Congrats I subscribed because I wanna figure skate and you will help me alot
You’re welcome! Glad to be of help and thank you for the support 🙏🏽
Bro that’s literally me spinning in the back
I’ve been playing rep for 14 years and have only used hockey stop
Sure Hockey Stop is the most efficient after all!
The pinguin sopp
The best !!
The way I stop:
Barge into the side
Your welcome guys! :)

The spin stop is my entire personality 😂
😂😂🙌🏽
Do you use inside edge for snow plow?
Yes 💯
My brother the hockey player :Nice
Every time I try one of these, my skate digs into the ice and I fall on my face 😂
😅 you got this! Don’t put too much pressure on your skates
which one of these is best for if you find yourself going very fast down a steep incline on inline skates?
You can use T-Stop to slow down slowly but on inline skates I would suggest learning the power slide for steep hills
@@rollerbearding Thanks for the advice! =]
I have the same skates as you!
Too awesome! Do you like them?
Yes I do very much!

I love doing the spin stop lol 😂
I will be ice skating for first time soon. I have 1.5 years roller blading experience. What I need to apply first when on ice?
My fav is a one foot hockey stop on the inside foot
Ahh yes that’s a cool one
The spin stop and putting your foot out front are my favorites, and they are super easy
The snowglobe is what we learned but nobody does it everyone has there own way of stopping
Interesting! 🙌🏽
Like to see stop methods for quad roller skating.
Alright I will make a Short on that 🙌🏽
Also can you do plow stop on inline skates
And then there's me, slamming into the wall at full speed
OMG shranger shings shound love it

How are those Vapors? Plan on getting some soon.
They are excellent! I would recommend! If you have the money go for the hyperlite
me : waits for it to stop itself
That works 😁

How to start
ive been trying to practise a stop, but I think I get too scared to change the rotation of my feet
one day ill get it lol
One tip for you is to put more weight on one leg as you rotate the other skate. It will prevent you from catching an edge as your rotate that skate
i do a mix of all of these 💀
Interesting 👀
The tea stops the coolest when you’re changing on the ice
me who uses the spiked part which i forgot the name of near the top of the blade to stop:
Toe picks which are only on figure skates blades
I’m a figure skater in the hockey stop is my favorite
Awesome 🙌🏽🔥
Can u teach me in a vid how can I stop like a hock
Did you mean hockey stop?
I do the spin stop all the time but it just feels so cheaty for some reason
It’s a good way to stop 🙌🏽
what abt the stop where you like push both ur feet outwards and kinda like make snow

Should be using outside edge for Tstop
Indeed! I show it kinda like a drag stop because it’s easier for beginner skaters to use their inside edges
