    I've just stumbled across your channel and have watched five videos now, and now have the confidence to at least start growing my favorite vegetables
    in the back yard. Thank you for making it so easy and not lots of long winded talking, just all the action we need to see to get started.

      I use 3-4-4 organic fertilizer (Garden-tone). Any fertilizer either balanced NPK such as 5-5-5, or high in PK like 5-10-10 would work. Avoid high nitrogen fertilizers. I hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment!

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello there! The ideal soil temperature range for planting potatoes is 45-50 F (7-10 C). After planting, the ideal temperatures for growth are 65-80 F (18-26 C) during the day and 55-65 (12-18 C) F at night. I hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment!

    Can you reuse the soil to plant more potatoes once one lot is harvested?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I always try to reuse my potting soil. Once you harvest your vegetable (potatoes too), remove old roots from the soil and add fresh compost (composted manure, garden compost,...) and general purpose organic fertilizer and you have a new potting soil. A ratio of 1/3 to 1/2 fresh compost to the mix will work. Thanks for visiting!

I don’t have any ready soil I could use, If I have to mix it do you have any recommendations what can I buy? I was thinking of any “top soil” I can get in B&Q etc. or should I get potting soil? • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Soggy potatoes are probably due to overwatering or lack of drainage. Make sure the container or bucket has multiple holes for drainage and do not overwater the plants. I usually water every other day but it depends on the weather. You want to keep soil moist but not soggy. I hope this helps and thank you for visiting.

      Technically you can grow potatoes from store bought potatoes, but I recommend to start from seed potatoes. Store bought potatoes usually are treated for a longer shelf life, and may introduce fungal disease into your garden soil. If you decided to grow from store bought, at least choose organic ones.
