Mara is such a sad figure. So lonely she fell in love with a hologram - who ultimately betrayed her. She literally gave her life to save Etheria, with no one there to have her back. And what's the last thing she does in the entire show? Delivers that devastating line: "You're worth more than what you can give to other people." Selfless to the end.
I don't think falling in love with Light Hope is a part of her loneliness because she was an AI and they did connect. But, Light Hope getting reprogramed definitely contributes to her depressing character.

I think the "You're worth more than what you give to others"/"It doesn't have to be you" plot could have easily been my favourite part of the entire show if they hadn't ruined it by literally making it so no one but Adora could trigger the failsafe lol that was a bit awkward

When Catra believes that Adora is going to die, she presses her ear to adoras chest because she thinks it'll be the last time she'll hear her heartbeat and she's scared and just wants Adora to come back and tell her that it's okay
The sad thing is Mara Deserves better she didn’t deserve to die i wish she didn’t die she had a beautiful soul and a kind heart but she was afraid and she never wanted to be a hero poor mara 🩰🤍 fly high mara
"i never wanted to die" is always so devastating. its just so simple and so human. mara has been so mythologized; first she was the she-ra who lost control, then she was the noble tragic hero who sacrificed herself, and it's only in the finale where adora is finally confronted with the truth that mara was just a person. the stakes of her actions were unbelievably high, but mara herself was in love with the mundane, everyday small magic of life. this godlike, universe-destroying being and her most precious dream was to be able to watch the lights in the forest, bring flowers to light hope, and make pies with razz.
it hurts because she knew no one would know the truth until she-ra comes bc she though light hope would lie and she did like she though she wasn't the hero when she was the biggest hero ever mara is my fav person in the show bc of her selfless side

she isn't just brave or kind she is the most selfless person I have ever seen in a show/real life and it hurts when we find out that light hope lied and said mara tried to break the world when it wasn't her it was light hope who did I had a theory that mara some how is the heart of Etheria think about it mara was the one to save the world and died in the making she got into the horde prim glowy stuff and that was from the heart of Etheria so she must be stuck in the heart or something
I felt so sad and angry whenever someone in the series called Mara crazy or compromised. She gave her life so the entire universe could live on and she got nothing in return. The fact that she was alone crushes my heart every time when I think of it. You deserved better, Mara

Specifically the idea of the sacrificial lamb concept where someone sacrifices themselves so that others don’t have to. And Adora definitely represents those who try to live up to the sacrifice but feel they are only worth while if they sacrifice everything, Failing to realize they’re already worth while and don’t need to prove anything to be worthy of love and life

Specifically how Mara’s sacrifice is similar to Jesus’ in that both play on the idea of someone giving their life so that we wouldn’t have to. And how individuals like Adora try to live up to the sacrifice but are too willing and/or do so because they feel they have no other value unless they do so

In mara's timeline, raz keep mentioning adora (more like, raz was confused who and which one of them wad adora bcos she kept on time travelling), That time, Mara knew the new she-ra was adora. In conclusion, Mara knew adora from raz.
Mara sacrificed herself so that way Adora didn’t have to. She wanted Adora to continue the life she didn’t get a chance to continue. To love.
