You should of set back the front panel that has the switch and PID controller a few cm from the face of the oven. When the door is opened the heat will rise right up and melt the plastic. That happened on a commercial-grade oven I have where the manufacturer did not think of how heat rises.Dear men (with a beautiful black beard), We love you!
Please add a high-temperature electrical insulation cover, on the contacts on the edges of heating elements for prevent you from electric shock (Alternating current in high-voltage is extremely dangerous [if the safeguards fail]).

Great work man! It's a shame it started cracking you might want to try covering the oven with a layer of refractory cement. It might help it hold up longer. Can't wait to see this oven in future videos. Happy New Year have a good one!

Sir, can i ask you about your wire type that connected to the heater elements? I use thin copper wire and it always vanished (burnt down) by the element
I wonder if the insulation properties of the mortar are sufficient for a heat treat oven? Will it reflect heat?
Hey there I have a quick question I've need contemplating making one of these to anneal my beads I need it to get to 900 are the heat restrictions due to the probe only being rated for that if you got a diff thermocouple could I get more heat bigger elements or is it the glass door letting out the heat just curious if you had any input on any of those ideas

Nice job man, I like it. You should make a part three where you replace the elements with a kanthal coil to get some higher temp.

I'm in the midst of building my own right now that is how I stumbled upon your channel. Was that refractory cement that you used? I am curious to see how well it would hold up to temperatures in the 1100 C range. Seems to be cheaper than the brick route but I'm sure the bricks are expensive because they work hahaha.
super cool oven. i made a foundry out of plaster and found that i have to replace it fairly often due to cracking is this the case with this?
Thanks man! :) Yeah I'm dealing with cracks too unfortunately, nothing major still probably because it doesn't get too hot.
I am thinking the plaster needed to be reinforced as well as cured slowly to prevent the cracking. with that much steam escaping upon initial firing, It was forced to heat and dry too fast and resulting in premature cracking.
you can improve by addind a steel mesh inside the zement (in the ~ middle of the wall thickness)
but you need to pre cut some hole so the wires you added dont short circuit.
or instead just build a metalframe

Yep you can temper knives as HowAml said, or melt down material with low melting point like hdpe :) I'm sure you'll see it used in my future videos!
Great project. Thanks for posting it. Your design might work perfectly for a project that I've been thinking about for a while.
How is your mini oven holding up? I gather that you used plaster for the second attempt. I know that the way to reclaim used plaster is to heat it to a certain temperature for a period of time in order to dehydrate it. And then supposedly you crumble it and it's good as new. (I forget the time and temp details.) But it makes me wonder if the plaster held up as you used it. I was thinking of using kitty litter, but then of course it would have to be sandwiched between an inner and out layer. Plaster would be easier if it would hold up. But maybe cement would be better. (Then I could even use it to reclaim used plaster.)
Very nice oven...It would be even better if you can integrate a propane burners...with an exhaust system...

Hi brother! Are you using a pid? There might be some kind of temperature ramps... The heating elements looks red hot? Dunno what to suggest xD
yes, im using the rex c100, the elements doesnt get bright red. do you used in series or parallel?
I use them as they were in the original toster oven, they are in series at pair, then the two pair are in parallel :)
can we cook food with the oven you made? i mean the plaster is not gonna fall of to the food?
I have no idea if plaster is food safe... I would look for the kind of cement used in pizza ovens you know? :) I wouldn't cook in this oven xD

Black Beard Projects ok, i was just wondering if you would be interested in making an arc furnace like grant thompson did... but more powerful, i was thinking a 4 electrode furnace would be cool, also have a larger crucible, not sure if this is up your alley or very safe, but it'd be epic
Thanks for the suggestion mate :) I don't know how much I would use an arc furnace like the one made by the king of random... For the stuff that I like to cast I need a lot of material :D
Black Beard Projects well that's why i said a larger crucible, make it as big as you want just as long as you still have enough heat energy
Yeah what I meant is: for how arc furnace works I think you always need the electrode to be really close because you need to strike an ark. Right? Not sure anyway :) I agree that would be an awesome build :)

Connections to household current need to be inside a grounded metal container. When the plaster falls apart there will be fire and electrical hazard. Please don't kill your children.

I thought it was great up until the demonstration of the wiring.
If it was good enough to be a heater it would burn the wood holding Electronics. And not good enough for me oh, my nipples would still be hard in the cold
I like your projekts and videos. Part 1 of this projekt was great. But i'm disappointed of Part 2. Please stop woodworking. It looks soooo unprofessional. You are a so good metalworker, please use your talent. And this improvised Window/door... for real? You can do this much better.

Yep for sure this can be done better, like everything I do! I don't claim to be a proffessional metalworker or woodworker, I'm just a guy that likes to make. Also store wood and material in general are expensive, I use what I have and what I find. Many of my project if not all of them have reclaimed materials and that's how I like stuff :') I won't stop anything unless I want to, I want to try, learn and make mistake as much as I can. And for anyone reading this: Don't let anyone say you what you can or cannot do! Have fun, the result are just a part of the journey. :)

It's a oven not a gallery painting. I think it looks fine it doesn't have to be flashy it just has to do its job.
