- Well here we go again, the clearly out on the internet that we know our way around Infiniti V8 Engine Repair and we're diving into this Black Infiniti QX80 that came to us from out of state. Initial Information we have is there are High pressure fuel pump failure codes, and that the timing had been done semi recently. Let's dig in and see what we've got going on!
These motors are reasonably complicated and intimidating, and we certainly understand why most shops won't go into this level of work. There's a lot that can go wrong, a lot that you need to check and double check, and it's frankly just a very expensive labor intense repair. The Infiniti V8 Timing Repair is definitely not something a casual or "B Grade" mechanic would want to attempt.
As you may or may not have seen in the Car Wizard Infiniti QX60 video recently the repair bills on these vehicles can skyrocket quickly, even though initial impressions and casual inspections may not find anything. Well as he found, and as we are finding, the devil is in the details!
We have 180k on our 2016 QX80. It tows trailers with ease and rides like a cloud. If it fails like this tomorrow, i will happily tear the front off and replace all this stuff. It is definitely a vehicle worth fixing. It can be some in-depth work, but satisfying to work on, as you can tell there was some thought given to accessing things on it vs some of the domestic stuff. Keep that oil changed often and give it a sniff check every time. Lol.
Thanks, Rich. More complicated cool stuff. These must be a beloved car, I can't imagine keeping something with this much maintenance required of them.
Very educational Rich. Thanks!
I didn't get to see the eclipse Rich. It was raining and crappie here. I myself have never been in on of those engines but it looks like you have em figured out
Good lunch time content.....thanks🔧👍
Hi Rich got my 2012 qx56 torn down just like you shared on previous videos got everything off, but stuck at timing chain. I’ve been rotating the crank to line up all the timing marks, but it seems like it’s taking for ever. If you could explain how you line up the timing marks it would be very appreciated. Thank you Sir.
I just bought a one owner well maintained 2014 QX80 with 157k. Just tore out the HP pump and it looks just like this. My concern is if I do this job, am I facing a worn out transmission sooner than later? Should I repair it and sell it asap and buy a Toyota again?
RUN!! Run far away from that P 0 $
I had the same issue. How much does it cost for this kind of repaired? I might have my vehicle towed to your shop from dc
You can replace the cam without removing timing cover. But that's if your timing chain is ok.
Correct, but you are in there so deep, and the chain tensioner is elevated.... better to do it all and give the owner a 100k life expectancy to follow the repair.
Preventative maintenance!
You are correct unfortunately it can quickly become a conversation of "while we're in here" if other issues show up.
Can you chow how you set the timing or timing marks. Thanks
Good video. what's the cost to repair the SUV on this particular situation ?
I just got quoted $1,750 plus tax😩
Way more than that
Hello
Can you help me with Nm values, when tightening camshaft bolts ?
Dariusz
Where do you get the lifter bucket ?
Just wondering the appx cost of this type of repair.
I had low oil pressure and at the same time it was having high oil pressure and it was making my qx56 jump time and the direct pump was bad 2 they basically told me to just get a new engine
@urdaddy9377 They told me to get a engine replacement also. I need to get the engine first but I want Rich to do the work. I live in Indianapolis and have to get it to Ohio 😅.
@@DOUBLEGDOGGGGGG lol those engines are not cheap 😂 good luck bro it’s going to be a expensive fix
@@urdaddy9377 Thanks. I have to find a place that will find the engine and do the work and take a payment plan 🤞🏾
I have oil in my HFPP why is that rich? I don’t know what to do now
People must really love these things to spend the bucks to get them back onto to the road, hey more business for you for the local specialist.
