I just wanted to clarify one thing: the Stones have NEVER been on a farewell tour. The critics and people have said, “This could be the last time” since the 1978 tour. However, never have they billed a tour as a “farewell,” and they will keep touring as long as Mick and Keith are alive.

"Keef and Mick" are NOT: "The Stones."

    • @fuchsiaswing8545
      @fuchsiaswing8545 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra Of course, the Stones is not solely Mick and Keef. But Charlie was adamant they would keep going in his absence and endorsed Steve Jordan as his replacement. I miss him, too, but even he admitted the Stones would keep going as long as it remained Mick and Keef. Yes, Charlie isn't dispensable, but neither was Brian, Taylor, and Bill. There will inevitably be lineup changes and deaths when a band has been around for 60+ years. Sadly, not much is left, but the core has always been Mick and Keef.

@@fuchsiaswing8545 Yes, I guess I am, simply, expressing my emotional distaste for the facts you express, here.
I am not sure that I ever knew that Charlie endorsed Steve Jordan (who I've always loved).
But I mean: you're never prepared for the death of anyone you admire. I was shocked (and initially dismayed!) to learn that: Dusty Hill had endorsed his own replacement in ZZ Top (in case of his future demise) 🤷🤷! ...But: Elwood Francis is, indeed, "a great fit."
Of course, I will never get "another Degüello" (wouldn't have even were Dusty still alive!)!
...nor have I ever expected "another Sticky Fingers" or "another Exile On Main Street" or "another Let It Bleed" (irrelevant of the continued existence of: Brian Jones or Mick Taylor!)
...but 🤷🤷 ...Despite that: I believe that band chemistry is essential and central!
...and it can't be "created" because it is desired or needed!
So: I refute "just adding a new guy" in. whatever the reason!
Yes, there are plenty of times that it has worked out well (or BETTER-than-well!), but just as many (if not more!), where it HASN'T!
I believe that, in the vast majority of cases: a new band has to be "formed"/declared after someone leaves or dies!
...but yes: that is my personal, irrevocable, feeling and set of understandings.
I AM glad I was able to see The Stones in the late '80s & early '90s (once with Bill and once after Daryl joined (although, I believe Wimbish (who I, personally, like BETTER as a player, was filling in the night I had tickets for! 🤷))-)
      - I was nonexistent/too young to have seen them in their INITIAL heyday, with Brian or with Mick,l Taylor, after Keef and Jagger took over, either.
So: I can't be TOO pedantic.
...but: I hope you understand: There's, just, something about that (and continuing to call it the same thing!!) that irks me, beyond explanation!
      I can tell you understand.
And, again: Yes. You are correct and your understanding is beyond reproach.
      👍

You fellas be on it. Don't know how you manage to find these gems, but good on you. Very cool you can really HEAR the essence of good music.
Still on my "hope" list: Wild Horses (studio cut only if you can--amazing production and arrangement), and an obscure one from Exile, "Stop Breaking Down" (old Robert Johnson tune)--its a barn burner--maybe one of their best "recordings" ... will blow your doors off (Mick Taylor, tour de force on the slide). I love the Stones from the '60s to the '70s into the '80s, but it was the late '70s - '80s is when their musicianship began to take off. Charlie Watts had expanded his drumming by taking jazz and swing lessons, Wyman's bass playing became more diverse and expansive, and you can hear that in his upper register triplets and funky breakdowns on this song. And if there's any iconic sound being used today, a lot of it comes from the innovation of the Stones in the 70s and 80s. This whole album is killer with songs that are funk, jazz, punk, rock, and soul: Send it to Me, Let Me Go, Where the Boys Go, She's So Cold.

That's Mick singing the falsetto. "Hang Fire" should be the next by them.

1980 (recorded 1979). No digital. All Mick on vocals. He just turned 81 in July. Ron Wood on the bass. Regular bassist Bill Wynan plays synth, which is barely heard.
The song hit #3 in the US, but was divisive between rock and disco fans.

From their disco phase in the late 70s, early 80s. A lot of rockers (the Stones, Queen, Rod Stewart etc) took on the "new dance craze style" as there was also the most money to be made. It didn't always work out but that one is a real fun song.

I've always focused on the lyrics and the way it was sung, but now I heard the bass and drums and it added so much more. I appreciate what you guys pick up from some of my favorites

Great song from a great Stones album.
Mick was trying to sing like the Bee Gees because that falsetto singing by the Gibb brothers was so popular at the time. This is a fact.

This track was my first time hearing (well, seeing) the Stones. They played the promo video on Solid Gold in '79? '80? I was starting to listen to music, was just a child. Great tune.

This was absolutely the Rolling Stones for the 80s crowd, but by no means was this attempted new wave.
This album is a mixed bag. From this discoesque masterpiece (emotional rescue) to blues classic “Down in the Hole”
I love older Rolling Stones absolutely. But there’s something about those two albums, (emotional rescue and tattoo you) that are just fantastic.
There is a little bit of a struggle for some of these songs, but some of them are absolutely brilliant.
I always feel like the stones are at their best when they let Keith Richards shine in blues mode. I feel like it brings out the best in the rest of the band, especially Mick Jagger.
But I really love those two albums as well. Definitely to be listened to as albums. It captures a moment in time. ❤❤❤

Bill Wyman is such an underrated bassist. This song is from 1980... btw, I went to the LA Stones show exactly 3 weeks ago and they sounded amazing. These guys keep surprising me and I have been to many of their concerts since '78

@@davidhowe5415 there are mixed opinions, even some say he also plays synths, some say Keith, some say Ronnie, so I stand by saying Bill is still an underrated bassist no matter who is what on what song.

Fellas Prince has been dead almost 10yrs ! This song is going on 45yrs old . But I know what you meant . So yes, it was some of RS later stuff “newer” . Come out in 1980 I do believe right when Prince was hot . Great analogy . 👊🏼🤘🏼 keep up the good reactions . I watch and like every single one . 😊
