I've been having the same problem but just realized if I bend my ring finger more inward, it helps keep that immobile chopstick from moving. I've also tried straightening my ring finger more and using the pad of my finger (where my finger prints are) instead of the side of the finger works very well! I like straightening out my ring finger more though, I wish I could post an image here to show what I mean, hope I described it well enough though.

Yesterday my mom got me the chopsticks and I forgot how to use it cause they were thin now I can firmly catch the chopsticks and eat noodles 🍜. Don't be frustrated, I held my chop sticks the whole time wrong, but it worked, until I was in Japan and a cook looked at my like I grew a second head...now I try to learn it the right way 😅
I know that feeling. That's why I used an easier method that was wrong. I use three fingers to hold the bottom chopstick and I use my index finger and thumb to move the upper one. It worked for nearly 30 years. But I was in Japan an a cook looked at me like I'm crazy for using them my way. He tried to teach me but it's really hard. My whole hand hurts 😩
The other tutorial advise only 2 fingers (thumb & pointy) for top stick, which needs more dexterity. I like this technique instead: 3 fingers for top stick ( thumb, pointy & middle) and ring finger for bottom stick - better management. Thnx again.

I use them all the time with everything. My silverware disappeared. But i bought lots of chip sticks at a thrift store. It's so easy now. I use them for mixing. Food prep and eating. Much easier than silverware. 🤗🤗🤗🙌🙌👋👋🍜🍵🌹🌹🌹

I use my 3 bottom fingers to support the bottom then i use my index and thumb to control the top.i know it the incorrect way but thats how i can get a better grip because the normal method,i cant close it because my middle finger gets in the way.

Just move the chopsticks with index and middle finger only. bottom chopstick should lean on the left side of ring finger stablely.

My way of using chopsticks is just one of many many ways of doing it. No correct answer doesn't exist. Just do as you feel comfortable.

i bought a pair and started practicing.
