I'm going to be honest with you.
I don't need this for when I'm out in the cold woods.
I need this for my next D&D session in my parent's basement.
It's better to cut semicircular cloak though, if it's large enough ( mine is 150 cm radius, 3 meters diameter ) it works as a blanket fair enough, while being more comfortable, the sort of sides by the hood are really uncomfortable if you just tie it this way. If you make a cloak you can also make a hood separate, but make it so that you can tie it or button it to the inside of cloak and you're carrying same thing around that doesn't feel weird.
Step 1: get a wool blanket
Step 2: follow instructions 0:00 -> 6:58
Step 3: let the hate flow through you
Step 4: surrender to the power of the dark side
Step 5: Remember that the God-Emperor protects ...
Shiiiiiire........ Baaaaagginssssssss.........
Cool, and thanks.
I always have two wool "Army blankets" in my truck, just in case. I now have another emergency use for them...
This is basically what most Medieval cloaks were. Just a big blanket held in place with a pin.
Gah!! This is so perfect. I have a length of fabric that is irreplaceable and have wanted to wear it somehow, but have been reluctant to cut it. Whaddya know, a button rock! Now I can enjoy this material in lots of ways. Thank you, good sir!
You can also use a blanket pin, otherwise known as a brooch.
10 years ago! Still a great video.
Ryan from The Office making quality survivalist content.
I've seen this done before but its good to see other variations of the theme. I was just thinking about putting mitten pockets on the blanket so you can slip your hands in them. Just sewing a basic piece of woollen cloth at each end of the blanket. They could also be useful for storing small essentials such as flint, or even your phone. Just a thought.
And if you're preparing things beforehand, may as well cut and stitch a nice button hole on one side and sew a button on the other. They'd be fairly unobtrusive on the edges and stay out of your way when using it as a blanket again. Boom you've reverse-engineered the snuggie for druidic woodsmen
And now you have become Strider, the one who will be King!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Just use a reusable zip tie. Cool vid
This is a good video. I think I'd prep the cord with the knot before picking up the blanket.
Thanks Man, well explained. Great video!
I like this. Fun and useful skill. Explained in a clear and natural way. Running water sounds soothing.
A good simple idea, thanx.
This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing!😊
I was thinking about making a clamp broach so there are no holes from a pin. A golf ball may be too large, but a marble is too small. I'll find a pretty stone along the river. Good video, well done. Thanks for the refresher course. I needed this, thank you.
Nice one! Like the "button"-idea ... Thanks for showing
Love the simplicity of the solution 😊
Excellent idea/ video!
Thank you for this amazing video.
Well done young man. Great tip.👍✅🙏
Very cool nice one mate!
Excellent.. awesome tool. Thank you
Pretty crafty. Thanks
Thank You for This Great Comfort
Thanks that was explained very well. I am going to try it but may also try getting the blanket ready at home with a couple of largish buttons and sew in a couple of button holes. I am older and get cold easily. Tying in the button stone may be hard for me to do in the cold. Consider me subscribed.🤗
This is awesome! Thank you
You make a great Sith Lord!
i’ve had these blankets in the Navy. had 4 of them and still froze my ass off. LOL
earned a follow! keep it up!
I really like this! I was wondering if I could do the same w/ an oil cloth...kinda make a rain covering. It would seem an oil cloth "tarp would have more uses than a poncho. MiF
Sure, why not.
Wool is also semi waterproof
@@eckiefleckie4938
What about oiled wool…?
I've never heard of oiled wool ...is there such a thing ?
@@billfrederickfrederick2791 yes
I was thinking of waxed cloth style but there is a natural oil wool too.
Excellent
I learned how to do that knot when I was messing with my shoelaces
Awesome!! :O
I always wondered how little red riding hood tide her hood, now I know, only kidding, great video and yes now I know!
Thank you.
well done
Great video. Button rocks are seriously underrated, underutilized and under appropriated.
Thanks for putting this out there.
I have a wool blanket and sleeping bag sleep system. On its first impromptu field test I figured out how to make the blanket (60”x80”) into a double breasted hooded cloak using 4 button rocks and some jute. It could be “unbuttoned” without removing any of the rocks or jute. Kept me quite warm next to the fire while my camping mates huddled closer and closer to the fire until they finally went to bed.
Just keep a big safety pin or something in your bag. Although that would put holes in it. 🤔 Pretty cool though. Definitely warm.
Yeah very much so it has done so much for me. I think its a wonderful art form if done correctly. Ive been in bands since highschool. And i get alot of inspiration from the bushcraft/survival world. But living where i live its kind of just life mot really a label. Small northern towns. But yeah i love metal music i want to start a youtube channel incorporating the two cause i cant be the only one who feels that way.
I'll be 80, still listening to metal AND tooling around in the woods. If the Alzheimer's or a stroke doesn't get me first, that is. 😊
Super !
best easy comfort shelter button and string to easy mate brillant i like it
And bam! Just like that you're ready to go to the Jedi temple and slay... No Anakin wait!!!
Thank you
My dad just cut a slit in it and wore them as a poncho. I see the advantage of the hood though.
great thank u ❤❤❤
The long hunters match coat 🤠
Cool.
😊Thanks
I have used Acorns for buttons.
Seriously! Who DISLIKES this? More importantly, WHY? It's a great "How-to", and it's presented well. It's not AMAZING, and it's not INDUSTRIOUS. NOR is it very hard to figure out on your own. I mean, COME ON! If you are stuck out in the woods with a blanket you're probably going to figure out how to use it as a cloak, especially if you know about the "button cinch". But why would ANYONE ever take the time to "thumbs-down" this video? I sincerely want to know! Because I suspect that most of them are just trolls.
They probably thought it wasn’t “pretty💅✨”
I mean he called me a turtle...
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MANY NAKED SHEEP DIED IN THE COLD OF SHEEP PNEUMONIA TO MAKE THAT BLENDED BLANKET ?!?! Probably something stupid like that 🤣😂😅
He called us turtles.
@@warrenstepp5571 Yeah, but he took it personal. Probably worried about the naked sheep too
I like folding the hood outwards cuz it looks a bit like a labia 😅 the button rock is brilliant
first thing - make the loops in the cord for the clove hitch & hold the cord between yor teeth, then wrap the blanket, adjusts the hood, make the folds, place the button stone. . . finally, take the cord from between your teeth & finish the knot. easy-peasy
Just use lock button for hat strings laundry bags ect. Cord already just put loop on knot and cinch easy on easy off i keep extras in my pack
"Old woman."..."MAN! I'm 37..." Nicely done, Chris! Aside from not having your knot prepared in advance, nicely done. PEACE!
Medieval vibe
Did you say 'in change' or 'inches'?
Did you just call me a turtle?
Alms for the poor sweetie?....alms for the puuuuooorrrr😅 🤣😢
Imagine wearing this in home
It might be easier if you had some sort of slip knot ready. That way you can just put the button through the hole quickly sinch it down.
Darth Krik
Tell me where the ring is!
I’m only doing this to look like a sixth lord 😂
budget Jedi Knight style nice ;)
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I suppose you could use a large bull clip!
Definitely sorted into Slytherin....
Got any poison apples?😂
It’s better if you fold a 1/4 of the blanket back then use a broach pin or button rock. That way the hood is way more comfortable
next you stomp dance round the camp fire with a sharpend stick ? !
Cloak.
Why not get a blanket pin
It's a spectrum
Why not just use a traditional cloak pin? They have been around for a serious amount of time, for this exact purpose. Takes seconds to pin, and looks fashionable. Even vagabonds gotta have style. But i suppose, any port in a storm.
Rock onnnn
Frodo :3 :P
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
What are you dipping?
Dipping? Never have. -Krik
Oops my bad then. Though I saw a dip in that lip.
You can just use a bungee cord or a couple of stone and thick rubber bands. Like the ones you get with fresh broccoli. The blue ones and not the blue pen. Ha. Ha, lol.
YOU NEED TO FOLD AT LEAST A FOOT OF THE FRONT EDGE UNDERNEATH TO PROVIDE EXTRA PROTECTION FOR YOUR HEAD AND NECK
Why not just use a brooch?
Brooch can damage the blanket over time, I guess.
Or just buy a heavy duty nappy pin and keep it on the blanket when not in use!! that's what we Scottish folk do with our woolen shawls!!
2:32 execute order 66
Can't take the hood out of him
Blanket pins are easier. Another "button" idea is a rolled up pair of socks.
Please tell me you listen to metal lol it goes hand in hand with this lifestyle
I can't say I'm a fan of metal. I assume you are? -Krik
Take it off and invert it, then put back on. Now you are styling.
Ima wear this to school I’m 5ft4 I was cold af yesterday ima but a wool blanket n do this idc if I look like darts Vader boss
5’4” is nuts i hope you’re a woman 😭
@@daevidpp445 I'm a woman, and I _wish_ I were 5'4". Heck, I wish I were 5'2". 😭 (under 5' tall)
Why not use a large and long wool scarf so you could use that as a hood if need be?
The blanket would still be a good cloak.
... Obi wan?
get you cord ready beforehand, with a slipknot, instead of trying to do it one-handed.
All I see is ,vigin mary
A hood *on* a blanket, not _in_ a blanket.
Man just use a scarf or towel like in russia
Now use the Dark Side of the Force!!!
SHOULD I be offended being called a turtle 🐢????. even tho I liked the video???
Just make and take a cloak? just sayin.
?
@@khalil7011 a cloak is basically a blanket with a hood.
Check out the anorak video we made.
Guy seriously made a video about how to wrap a blanket around yourself 😂
Don’t build fires on rocks. The rock can crack.
