This is one very chilled-out cat. There is no way my cat Tammy would allow me to do this as I doubt i would have a hand left LOL Thanks for sharing though
Omg! That is a veeery patient cat! Mine hisses at snaps at me if I just touch the mat with my fingers, no comb even involved! I get that it should be a good solition. But over here, it's required two persons in full body armor carefully untangeling mats. Slightest yanking in/touching of mat leads to full om attack & ecsape attempt...
CBD oil 5 drops in mouth, or put in yummy food. Also saw a video lady used small curved scissors to carefully cut matts, thinking the talc and scissors combo may be a good way. I saw the advice of CBD’s from a vet, so it is sound, can also use rescue remedy.
@@odettegordonyo The Vet I just watched online suggested only 2 drops of the CBD oil for a cat (His was 20 pound cat!), So a lighter weight cat needs probably only 1 drop! Five drops sounds like way too much unless it's in a very dilluted solution. I use the small, curved scissors and it works great, but you still must be extremely careful of the cat's very thin and delicate skin! I put the length of my two fingers together between the matt and the cat's skin, then cut above my fingers to be sure their skin is safe. I have also used the egde of the same scissors to gently shave away the fur at the base of the matt. (NOT the skin!!) 😊 I think that it's actually safer than cutting, and it works quickly. I gently move the matt away from the skin as much as possible and then use the long blade of the curved scissors to shave away at the fur base without coming near the skin. (The curv should be away from the body).
@@pat4005 it’s bad to go based off of drops as different bottles of CBD oil have different concentrates of CBD. 2 drops of one bottle may be equivalent to 5 drops of another.
I would’ve never thought to use corn starch. I have been trying to get my cat’s Bob Marley dreads out and it has not been easy. I’m going to wait a bit longer to try again to avoid my cat not murdering me in my sleep. I bought some CBD oil to give my cat a couple drops to hopefully chill her out. I wish it was as easy as this video…
I will try this! I use thinning shears now. Since we have been doing that he is much more patient because he knows it won't pull as much. Sometimes I will cut them with the thinning shears and wait until later to separate the hair and remove the mats. I will also rhin down the thicker parts of his hair with them. He loves it!
May I suggest pure coconut oil and a lot of patience. My cat loves it, it kind of acts like a catnip for her and she purrs right through a mat removal. I've been brushing her since she was a kitten though.
I have already tried using coconut oil on the matted fur. Is it still OK to try the corn starch or will the corn starch only make the fur harder? How does the corn starch work? My cat's fur is hard has a rock and I can barely cut through it - will the corn starch still work?
Whilst I have patience, my Persian x Ragdoll does not. I'm curious about this corn starch, when the cat grooms herself afterwards, it must make them exceptionally dry mouthed and thirsty.
I use embroidery scissors, to separate mats and it’s faster. Fear they will lick the corn starch. But i will give it a try. Thanks The key is not to hurt the cat.
We took our British short hair to a groomer he developed a small hard tuft on his back he brushed it out vigorously was amazing . Now it been gone for months now
Great video. However, those are spinal matts. My girl gets them on either side of her neck. Very hard to groom. But I will try this approach again. Last time, it took sedation and a trip to the vet. 😭
So does mine! It's really frustrating. One she has now is huge!!!!! She is already under the vet fo sensitive tum at mo & going have go back to remove the neck matts. She didn't used to get them either. Been her mummy for 5 years. It's only the past year or so.
Many animals who won't allow an owner to groom them will submit to a professional. Similar to your own children minding a stranger but ignoring their parent.
That's very true. My cat detests brushing, so l just use a trimmer. Sometimes she is very good, other times not and l let her go until next time. Best time l noticed is after a nap, while still sleepy so more relaxed.. worse time in evenings as she goes into hunting mode with extra energy. Just an example.. When l took her to the vet - she was the sweetest and calmest cat in the world.. while at home is a little tornado hehe.. she was touched, kept in arms, had a pill with zero problems, was silent and super obedient.. l was like " Really, love? " (She wasn't scared but curious and very submissive as a result.. as new place, smells, animals there) So for now no need for a professional groomer, yet l bet she would be very good there also if.. So you are damn right : )

Same for my cat.
Hahaha yeah my cat too! 😂

Yes corn starch really did wonders ...Mats were removed without any pain for the kitty...patience required.....thank you for sharing
Watching this relaxed me too much. I'm stuck in my recliner waiting to be groomed!
At first I was wondering why you were washing your kitty in a tub with celery in it, then I realized that's actually a blanket
I thought the same thing, lol.
Ahahahaha
Kitty soup

This worked just as shown. My cat, Chevy sat through it with no problem. Simple and quick

CBD oil today
Thanks 4 your video. I used this method with corn starch on my 16 year old ragdoll cat. And I was surprised how great it helped with his mats!:)

It took me 3 years to learn how to gently groom my girls.
Love the music.
Such a Nice Kitty,
He / She helped alot by just being Calm.
💚♥️🖤🐈

excellant it's totally edible safe for the kitty unlike olive oil on other videos it won't stain your sofa or clothes.
Beethoven symphony 5 is what I would be playing when it comes to do with anything grooming and my cats 🐈 🐱🙀😾... 😆
My cat would bite the shiz out of you if you tried that on him. You are really lucky you have a cat that's so relaxed.
Great choice of music!
that was pretty cool although my cat wouldnt allow me to do thhat
What a lovely kitty. Mine would have ripped my arm to bare bone if I had her sat like that.
well done, patient cat though
How did you make your kitty sit so soundly for 2 minutes?
Corn starch eh?....I'll try that..thanks!....note: Music was PUURRFECT!
Small amount of olive oil works well, too. Just olive oil and not other typed of oil. it also gives a nice clean shine to the fur.

That kitty did feel pain but it wasn’t as terrible as it could have been. Saw one with coconut oil as well.

Hardly any Matt came out. It would have been easily to cut it off. Poor cat.
Omg the music to this was perfect.....I mean, Purrrrrr-fect!
My cat would never let me do that. Unfortunately when he gets mats I just have to cut them out.
So far ive been researching what to buy to do my cats matts, I think Ive decided to buy clippers and shave her.
You got to be careful doing it yourself. They are not like dogs. They have very thin skin that tears easily.
I use embroidery scissors, to separate mats and it’s faster.
Fear they will lick the corn starch.
But i will give it a try. Thanks
The key is not to hurt the cat.
My cats entire body is a Matt I bought a shaver.
by this point im treating my own wounds..what are you using to keep cat so calm
Sadly, the mats on my cat are all on her stomach.
Let the cat roll around in a bucket of corn starch and then get a hair shedding brush and a good rub down

Yes, big neck mats! Help me!

do you recommend a particular comb?
Use a mat splitter, faster, less pulling and better for less cooperative cats.
Yay! Good job! And i love the music!
why does my cat look exactly like this and have mats in the same exact spot lmao
This did not work for me.
That’s a great cat right there

Did you sedate the cat,if so with what
That's very true.

What a good cat😘😘😘
I'm 11 years old getting matts out of my Kay I feel soo bad
My cat has something like this in the under fluff and would NOT hold still and lay on her back for something like this.
Sedate with CBD oil to take the edge off
My cat gets all sharp and bitey when i try that, i did get cornstarch rubbed into the mats tho.
To avoid getting bit. You can use an ecollar, airmuzzel or more comfortable yet a comfurt collar when trying to groom.
@@apurrfectgroomermobile2592 Thanks for the help she uses her claws too, had me bleeding from both hands last time I worked on her matting.
Good work
Just what I needed
Thank you so much!!
Clippers are far quicker.
My cats have NO tolerance for grooming of any sort and if I came at my oldest girl with a set of clippers, she'd tear out my throat, really.
Cute cat
Oh TY TY TY
sure come over and help my cat...
I think cat is high.
Wow!
My cat would never tolerate her fur being tugged on and pulled.
My Persians are this docile. Great tip thanks!
I heard to use corn flour, the powder looks like it anyway
