Don't blame the manager, the real culprit is Ed Woodward, he got the names of the players Mourinho wanted till very long, apparently 3 months before the end of the last season. Ed got times to analyse, to make approach and spend the cash to bring them. It's useless now to expect anything when the management isn't responding to expectations! Ed Woodward out!!!!!!!
would you wanna go to a job where if you have a bad day your manager publicly shames you? i wouldnt, mourinho has had us pay ridiculous amounts for sanchez, played him whenever possible over martial and rashford who have careers ahead of them not behind them. rashford scored twice against liverpool from the left, yet sanchez was put on lw the next game and rashford push out to the right.

Yes but saying it publicly over and over can affect team morale. His job right now is to train his players to be better and lift morale. He seems to be doing the opposite and I'm worried there will be problems in the dressing room this year and it will kill the season. This has to be a bigger worry than the lack of signings. Imagine if SAF or ZZ were coaching this squad.
I have to agree with Mourinho that the English press makes it sound like we were bottom of the table last season and not second. All you ever read/hear is "United finished 19 points behind City". You never hear talk of how far behind City the likes of Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal finished. If you didn't see last seasons table, you'd probably be thinking, wow, 19 points? United must have finished mid-table or something. City where phenomenal last season, as painful as it may be to United fans, but we weren't the only team miles behind them.

Nnajiofor Kingsley i hate it when people mention woodward. He has signed numerous players. Given mourinho a new spine and done miracle deals like pogba by paying ludicrous amounts to agents. He also has gained the club more sponsorships which pushed the owners to spend
At the end of the day. City were always going to win the league because of their attacking football and goalscoring. We would never get more points because mourinho teams win by keeping the most clean sheets and there has never been an oppostion like city who dont look like losing to smaller sides because they always score
So our biggest games were chelsea and sevilla. Did we lose those games because of woodward or was it mourinhos poor selection and tactics.
Mourinho isnt getting the best out of young players like rashford and martial compared to sane and sterling. Lindelof and bailly dont start due to inconsistency. Pogba also inconsistent. Mkhitaryan and sanchez both been poor. Only lukaku and matic have worked. Ultimately . Mourinhos team selection and tactics lost us these matches and we couldn't beat the likes of west Brom and other small teams because of play style. Sanchez has been his worst signing so far. He made things worse by not sticking to his position and he made the team even more narrow by taking the place of our only wideman in rahsford/martial on the left.
And also we need to face the facts. Which top players really want to play for us. Because more top teams can buy players. It is more about developing players which mourinho hasnt done for attackers. Bailly and lindelof can be top class but our forwards and pogba will never play as well as de bruyne. Sane and sterling. Look at how pep improved them. Look at how desperate mahrez was to play for city. If he had the choice between us and them. They would win everyday.

We've been saying this for years now but he's still there. I don't think it's so much that we need to get rid of Woodward, what we need is to hire someone else who is in charge of buying and selling players.
Woodward makes the club money, and it's the deals he makes that generate enough revenue to keep the filthy owners pockets filled and have enough left over to spend on transfers, without Woodward the club would be in a even worst state financially (might not be a bad thing if financial troubles could scare the owners enough to sell the club) but he sucks at negotiating with other clubs, he is the numbers guy, he sees players as as pluses and minuses, how much each player can make them money, etc, what the club needs is someone who can work with the manager and get the players.
Woodward is great at what he was hired for, he wasn't hired to buy and sell players.
Win or lose this title . But for me Jose needs to show a great fight for the title ! I always wanted Jose after Alex Ferguson but since being appointed as manager I have had mixed feelings ! This is the time to show what United is Jose !

Look at our players : David De gea ( best goal keeper), Pogba probably the best midfielder, romelo one of the best strikers of world cup and for his country, Matic of one of the best midfielder, martial and Radford have so much potential. Sanchez was on another level when he was playing for Arsenal . You can't say that we don't have quality players !!!

Romelu had Hazard and KDB in the world cup. Pogba is great, but he's only 1 man. He's also not ready to start the season with us after his world cup heroics, so we can forget about him for the first 2 or 3 games. Martial and Rashford need to move beyond potential and start delivering consistently.
The only thing that would have seen us break City's dominance this season is to have signed players to strengthen areas of weakness. We didn't and that is not Jose's fault. We don't even have a bench. We barely have enough fit players for the first team.
I know Jose will fight for results. He may not win the league, but he will try to finish respectably. It would be an injustice to him for anyone to complain if he doesn't win silverware though.
I'm not optimistic, but I am hopeful.

Jose mourinho is a tactical genius. He's not gonna change the way he plays football because his style is to outplay the other manager. Not in the attack but in the defence. He will look to nullify all threats a team poses and adjust his game plan throughout the game. He is the best manager we could have right now as peps city and klopps Liverpool the only 2 other real title contenders only have a plan A. Jose has plan A-Z. If we don't drop stupid points against teams we should be beating we will be the team right up there challenging city. Jose tactically is right up there with best managers in the world. He's the best tactician in the prem. He's a way way better manager than people give him credit for. He's not an attacking manager granted but he's a genius in the way he operates.

Pep would have died of a heart attack playing with the players we have. He inherited a better team in his first season than we had last season and still didn't go 'someplace'. It took him buying the world to get the team to the heights he wanted. I think Pep would have sold off three quarters of the team at United in a hurry. He's not the sort of coach to make do with average players in any department as Mou has been forced to do since he joined United.

Pep inherited a vastly inferior defence and keeper. Up front, City had Aguero and the (then) laughing stock Sterling. Mou inherited a much better defence and keeper, plus Rashford and Martial up front. His task was to buy midfielders to match Silva and De Bruyne. He didn't, and still hasn't.
