    We can't deny the facts that Jose is stating here. As a United fan it's been such a long time since we have won the league and that the heritage he inherited. It takes time to get players to the level of the like of 'The Big Four in Europe' - Real, Barca, Bayern and Juve. I like the way the manager is dominating his press conference instead of allowing the media to set the narrative. GGMU

    When many think he's finished, Mourinho pulls of an amazing press conference. Those facts may hurt some fans but it's the reality check that many need. Manchester United isn't the elite club they were 10 years ago but Mourinho is working hard and showing progress so they have better chances in returning to the elite of football.

    • @dendawgg
      @dendawgg 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @Mundolio Knows: Leicester aren't Manchester United and that comparison seems like an easy one to make but it's not. Teams always lift against United no matter how United's form is at the time. I'm glad Jose's comparing us with the elite European clubs and not Leicester City. No disrespect to them because what they achieved that season (and the years prior) is nothing short of amazing, but United is a different kettle of fish.

    I'm sure among managers,Jose mourinho loves this club more than anyone else after sir alex ferguson. Call him egoistic, narcissist or what ever you want, But that's exactly how a manchester united manager should be. We trust in Jose and he is the right person for this job. He loves this club, as man united fans let us be patient and give him some time to build an empire, legacy and swaggery.

      What love? It's always about him. I think what he has achieved has got to his head. Calling out pundits, other managers and clubs is proof of that. He needs to stay grounded until he reaches his absolute peak. Why make enemies in the game when you still have so far to go?

      Kizito George William enemies? Half of the journalists criticise him day in day out, okay for some facts. Last year uefa released their 8 best coaches of all time, Pep was not nominated. Jose was. Next, guess who has won most ballon d or best coach awards. Him. Not pep, not saf, not klopp, Rafa, or any other great coaches. Best defence in one season, his Chelsea. Jose is a great manager. Just to clarify, as much as I like the game and him, I like Jose for one more reason, you see Pep,Klopp,Conte , fantastic players, who later became great coaches, all of them. This guy, he was a student enrolled in Management course when he left to follow his own dreams. The way he said, every wall is a door, that is what he has done throughout his life, turning walls into doors, impossibility into opportunity, he is the most human, the most relatable of all coaches I find. He is someone who is a breathing example, of if you really want it, you will get it, no matter what comes your way. No wonder Lampard had once said"I would die for him".

  • @Quazzi
    @Quazzi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +111

    Basically he's saying Pep inherited a winning side and he inherited a sub-par side and brought them up to 2nd. It's easy to say Pep is great but to be fair, he's had a much easier time simply because he had a far better side to begin with.

    • @awfan221
      @awfan221 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, consider the entire lineups of the two teams, let's come up with 11 starters and 7 benchmen. De Gea; Walker-Kompany-Bailly-Shaw; Fernandinho; Martial-Silva-KDB-Sane; Aguero. Bench: Ederson, Valencia, Otamendi, Pogba, Matic, Sterling, Lukaku. 10/18 City players. 8/10 United players. And there will be united fans putting Rashford over Sterling (or Sane) or putting Mata in there. So no, not "far" better, just slightly better.

    • @Quazzi
      @Quazzi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A team that has won twice in 7 years and has come 2nd in that time isn't 'slightly better'.

    • @awfan221
      @awfan221 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quazzi Again, look at our team in the last 4 years. Last time we won was 2014. Ever since then, the team got older and older and worse. Season 2 and 3 under Pellegrini, we were awful. Luckily, the other top 6 were more awful. Pellegrini for some reason brought in Mangala, Bony, Navas, Fernando, Demichelis for £90M!!!! Our fullbacks were all old too. At the end of the day, regardless of inheritance, Pep is just better at helping his players reach their potential. If martial and Rashford played for us, they would be better than Sterling and competing with Sane for a starting wing position

      Not his fault in that case

    • @tolugiddi
      @tolugiddi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Kuzi You must realize that, along with Pep inheriting a squad that already won the Prem before, and the ManCity Oil money board, he got every single player he wanted and sold every player he wanted to sell in both seasons he has been in charge.. ManUnited did not have such luxury. If Pep wanted Messi and Ronaldo plus Neymar, the City board were ready to give it to him.. it’s not the same at United. 2 managers already wasted money before Jose so he is trying to create his own group of winners while simultaneously undoing what the other 2 failure managers created. That’s not easy to do. Pep didn’t have these same challenges.

    This showed he is still passionate about the team and the toughest job in the world. I know he is a bit egoistic when it comes to defeats, but if you see the progress we have made is great. During van gaal reign we hoped for a goal, and 2 goals felt like it was a huge win. Now we have scored 4 on so many occasions, the progress is there. He will remain for 1 or 2 maximum ywars but the team he will leave would be a world class squad for another manager and hope maybe giggs is ready in 2-3 years to take the United Job after wales.
    Get behind the team guys!

      Mikey94 they never won in England either until they played us, jose truly is a spin doctor. He's the true meaning of smoke and mirrors. A huge deflection from his own shortcomings. Arrogance beyond conceivable levels. Why does he fall into these issues wherever he's going through a rough patch? The man has previous at Madrid, Chelsea. and its not even his 3rd season yet i have a feeling next season it may get worse look at his record in his third seasons

      He didn't send them out to draw ffs, he got his tactics wrong but it's not because he parked the bus, or anything like it, in fact the opposite is true. He set us up with 2 attacking midfielders in Fellaini and Lingard and left Matic on his own in the midfield to do everything. His idea was to go long to Fellaini so he could knock it down to our attacking players and we play from there, which was the wrong decision because it meant we had no control in our midfield, he got his tactics wrong, but he didn't set up defensively.

      Dylan Byrne I don't agree, Jose would have started Pogba if he wanted to be offensive. You could hardly count the number of times Fellaini left his midfield position to "attack", Fellaini also doesn't have the passing abilities of Pogba to play an offensive match. Bare in mind this was a Champions League knockout round, and the second leg was at home, still Jose did not start Pogba and allow his team to attack with freedom. It was a "risk free" and defensive approach from the first minute until the point when Sevilla scored twice. I could understand the use of defensive tactics when the team is leading but not when the team needs to score to qualify.

    The basic reality is that Jose is a dinosaur of a manager up against in domestic terms a very progressive, inspirational genius. Based on the toiling, plodding style he has Man U playing, can anyone see him putting a team on the pitch to challenge Pep?
    The transition front to back is laboured, Sanchez is a blind spot for him and has clearly damaged the team ethic. He thought he got one over on Pep when in reality he got a very divisive player on astronomical wages.
    The Style of football that won the Europa league was bland and plodding and barring a brief renaissance in style at the beginning of this season he has reverted to type. For me the acute abandonment of that early season progression at Liverpool was pivotal and quite graphic in the aftermath.
    The best thing that could happen to Man U is Jose to PSG at the end of the season, he’s on an extended contract therefore the club saves face in terms of comp. should that be on the cards, Diego Simeone is absolutely the right guy, the progression and success of Athletico has been quite stunning under Simeone and watching them winning 5-1 away in Moscow was a joy to behold in terms of style and movement.
    Jose has allowed his ego to overshadow his flagging managerial talent. A fact that the powers that be at Chelsea recognised and despite his ‘heritage’ with that club, binned him at the point of his ego superseding his talent.

      +Truth Only If ManU's board didn't sign a manager that plays the way he does and instead one that was attack oriented, this wouldn't be an issue. But over 4 years ManU's board has known how to spend money like no tomorrow on players and coaches that don't match their philosophy and immediately leave a few years later. So blame your board before you blame the coach. He took the job that was offered by that board, and he's going to play the team to his ways.

      You guys can't be serious, Jose's tactics and formation was obviously wrong in that match. Instead of using 433, he went with a defensive 4231 formation with TWO holding midfielders at HOME. If that doesn't look defensive, I don't know what will. Another obvious point is that Pogba doesn't start in a Champions League knockout round at home, he would definitely have started that match if offensive tactics were deployed.

    nice speech but there's a lot to be answered that we will never get an answer to, for example why play Fellaini and not Scott or Paul vs Sevilla, why not play Rashford in the same position he played vs Liverpool, why play Sanchez as a LW when he cant defend and Mourinho loves people to track back, he always shouts at Martial when he doesn't track back but Sanchez does what he wants.

      PunizherTM watch the match carefully mate.. he played fellani for long balls.. just like he did with lukaku against Liverpool.. and won.. against sevilla...it's just that the players were rusty and lose their mentality... Man u players always starts a match slow with lack of motivation.. they need the opponents to score in 1st half to get back that fighting spirit but they were unlucky too against Sevilla..

    • @tolugiddi
      @tolugiddi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      PunizherTM First things first, how many matches has Scott played back to back? Were you aware Paul hardly trained in the build up to Sevilla due to knock he received in training? Do you realize Rashford played both on Right and Left against Sevilla? This is real life not a video game, players roam and change wings during open game play.. Do you also realize own the business end of things, Sanchez will not be paid what he is paid each week to sit on the bench.. that’s a loss to his employers. Give Jose some more time, everything will fall into place. Sir Alex went through a period almost worse than this early in his United career.. took years to turn it around. That’s what a little patience will get us.

    Nowadays, any win isn’t really a Manchester United win...it’s a Mourinho win. So what’s the point? He’s all about brand Mourinho. He fails to realise that he’s the custodian of an institution bigger than himself, his achievement...that will endure long after Mourinho is six feet under.

    • @Mrkeldhon
      @Mrkeldhon 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      He talks about De Bruyne...he sold De Bruyne at Chelsea. Couldn’t get the best out of him. Mo Salah too got sold by him. So did Lukaku and Matic. And Mata.
      We risk wasting the talents of Martial, Rashford, Shaw, Fosu-Mensah, Perreira under his stewardship. Angel Gomes could leave if he doesn’t see a future under Mourinho. How can he not know how to work with Pogba, Sanchez? He couldn’t nurture Mikhitaryan. Lindelof?
      His obsession with Valencia and Young at full back...Fellaini! He belittles the past two regimes ok! Fellaini is a Moyes signing! So why is he persevering with him? He doesn’t even know his best XI!!
      Mourinho has had the star quality to attract big players for us which Moyes and Van Gaal didn’t. But he will soon be losing this ability to attract the top names. And tactically, he’s in a league of his own. But not every game has to be a rigid tactical game. We have the players to blow teams away. Yes he had inherited a mess. But he isn’t the one to fix this mess in any SUSTAINABLE manner. It’s always quick fixes with Mourinho. We may win things under Mourinho but at what cost?

    If the next manager of Manchester United will inherit someone as old as Matic doesn't that signal that Jose plans on leaving soon?

    The special one. Man, I d rather have a charismatic manager like mourinho than the others. I just hope he can translate his words into the club in the same style. This was like something in a movie lol.

    We have a very expensive squad that plays like stoke at home in champions league. What a tool!

    All talk. Too defensive. Not the right manager and I've been through the wilderness years between Busby & SAF. Bad signings & bad tactics.

    Shocking attempt at damage control. No manager can ever lower the expectations of this club. If Woodward wants to spend more money that's his prerogative but that team is better than Sevilla.

      Rademagon They tried to lower it and look what happened, both of them ended up getting sacked. Mourinho should watch his step. Bayern haven't won the CL in a while but the expectations is the same for them to.

      Rademagon I am. On paper this team is better than Sevilla,Roma,Liverpool and even Juventus imo. That's half of teams still left in the tournament.
