Losing gave him insane motivation to win, while he was winning he didn’t have the same hunger. Thats why when he finally beat Ronnie and kept it, the loss was so terrible that he became better than anyone ever. I have yet to see a picture of a bodybuilder better than Jay that year, it was better than Ronnie 2003. Compare them, he’s better.
You know in the end Jay may have had some of the greatest DNA of all time. Hes arguably walked away the most injury free of all the mass monsters. Hes still very healthy and still in great shape. Hats off to you, Mr. Cutler.

Damn straight. We all had the same reaction to Phil Heath in 2011, I mean, the second he stepped up on stage for pre-judging, it was lights out, there was nobody close. Being there in person watching that entrance was mind blowing.
Jay literally transformed himself in 2009. It was insane, not only did he improve his weak points, he came in perfect, he came in full but peeled to the fibers. He absolutely nailed his peak, it's not an easy thing to do but he did it. Jay in 09 was a God of the Stage, incredible.

Lee Haney trained intelligently as well before Cutler ever came on the scene and Haney was smart with his money too... plus 8x Mr. Olympia! Not saying Jay didn't do it right, just saying Haney was there before him.
I’ve had the the privilege of meeting jay years ago at a show I was competing in. This guy is a class act he didn’t leave until the show ended and stayed until every last fan got a picture and autograph. I had the honor of actually holding a short conversation with him and he is the nicest human being I’ve ever met. A bottomless pit of bodybuilding information jay is the fuckin man.
Jay's perseverance was beyond this world. Not many people would be able to mentally handle being 2nd to Ronnie for all those years, keep coming back to finally win and then come back again after losing the title in just 2 years. Out of all the Mr Olympias, I have the greatest respect for him as his spirit was truly unbreakable. If I could chose one thing of his to have, it's his will-power, not any of his muscles.
In '08 Jay lost the title after winning the Mr. Olympia twice. Everyone counted him out next year and said he was done. Sometimes we have to get back into that underdog mentality to really dig deeper than ever before. This story doesn't just apply to bodybuilding, you can apply it to anything else in life. Almost brought a tear to my eye.. to have everyone telling you no, you can't, your done, then to come back and crus it. What made him win imo was his mental strength to push through all that negativity and come out and prove to himself and everyone else that when you want something bad enough you will fight everything for it. I don't think people understand how much of an inspiration,roll model,and father figure Jay is to his fans. He knows what it's like being the underdog,when everyone was against him he never quit no matter how much he wanted to,he was chasing something he himself wasn't so sure he'd be able to do. I'm a natural bodybuilder,fixing to go into competition,I watch thus video when I get in the zone and need Jay the most. No one has believed me,I went from bone anorexia to 18 1/2 biceps,24 inch legs,and all lean muscle. I give alot of thanks to Jay for all my stretch marks,my stripes I worked my ass off for. Jay Cutler A CUT ABOVE! I remember this gave me tears cause this was back when I was running 10 miles a day like 3-4 x a week and tossing weights around. I got a fusion due to accident on spine and blew up but after 3-4 years I’m kinda feeling somewhat ok….. pain is there no doubt but this gave me tears and motivation. What a comeback that year! Physique still gives me chills to this day!
It's crazy how if he hadn't lost he wouldn't have reached such an incredible form. The 09 show is in my opinion one of the best mr olympia not only for Jay's god like physique but the story and context behind it makes it so much more impactful
I am currently on a consistent and drastic remission from my chronic illness and I’ve been watching this video for weeks now. It really motivates me in an unreal degree. Now, I don’t want the physique I have before the illness, I want a way better one. (I was bodybuilding before my illness, and I am going to say this without arrogance, I had a great physique)
The best part about what Jay did was he zoned in on what Dex had the advantage in: conditioning. That man stepped on stage the next year with the driest, cleanest, most defined separation ever. He always had the size advantage, but once he had that chip on his shoulder my God he took it to the max 💯
He may not be the best but definitely the GOAT in my eyes. To have to experience the upsets he had to go through and always to the same guy year after year and finishing second 5 out of 6 years and still have the mental strength and the will to continue to give your all and never give up and manage to finally beat the guy and be a 4x Mr. Olympia is amazing!!! I can't imagine how strong you have to be to overcome that; think about it. For me he's the greatest, no doubt in my mind.
Love Jay Cutler. I watched every workout video he ever made. Motivated me to put in work. I started working out at 170. At my peak I was walking around at 250. Even with him retired I still watch him

I was lucky enough to be at this show, I remember sitting in the audience pinching myself, this was Jays best ever physique, it was Branch Warrens best physique ever and Dexter's best ever.....Dexter should have been 2nd.....but I got to see three legends at their all time best..... What a year 09 was!
This is the first time I had watched a body building show and I knew when I saw Jay Cutler, that I was watching something special. I didn’t know anything about him or bodybuilding at that time.
I love Cutler. He’s also super smart. I remember when I first started weight training in 2008 and seeing him on magazines when he was still young. He was and still is the man! He stood out. Love Cutler ❤️🇦🇺

Thats why when he finally beat Ronnie and kept it, the loss was so terrible that he became better than anyone ever. I have yet to see a picture of a bodybuilder better than Jay that year, it was better than Ronnie 2003. Compare them, he’s better.

I’ve had the the privilege of meeting jay years ago at a show I was competing in. This guy is a class act he didn’t leave until the show ended and stayed until every last fan got a picture and autograph. I had the honor of actually holding a short conversation with him and he is the nicest human being I’ve ever met. A bottomless pit of bodybuilding information jay is the fuckin man.

Jay's perseverance was beyond this world. Not many people would be able to mentally handle being 2nd to Ronnie for all those years, keep coming back to finally win and then come back again after losing the title in just 2 years.
Out of all the Mr Olympias, I have the greatest respect for him as his spirit was truly unbreakable. If I could chose one thing of his to have, it's his will-power, not any of his muscles.

In '08 Jay lost the title after winning the Mr. Olympia twice. Everyone counted him out next year and said he was done. Sometimes we have to get back into that underdog mentality to really dig deeper than ever before. This story doesn't just apply to bodybuilding, you can apply it to anything else in life. There will always be people who say you can't do things, no matter what you do. We all fall down, the question is who gets back up!! COME BACK STRONGER ✊✊✊

As a former competitive bodybuilder back in the day, I was so inspired by this video. What it takes to even step on stage is crazy but how Jay came back and showed the world that day will never be forgotten.

Almost brought a tear to my eye.. to have everyone telling you no, you can't, your done, then to come back and crus it. What made him win imo was his mental strength to push through all that negativity and come out and prove to himself and everyone else that when you want something bad enough you will fight everything for it. Not just in Bodybuilding, but in life.

I don't think people understand how much of an inspiration,roll model,and father figure Jay is to his fans. He knows what it's like being the underdog,when everyone was against him he never quit no matter how much he wanted to,he was chasing something he himself wasn't so sure he'd be able to do. I'm a natural bodybuilder,fixing to go into competition,I watch thus video when I get in the zone and need Jay the most. No one has believed me,I went from bone anorexia to 18 1/2 biceps,24 inch legs,and all lean muscle. I give alot of thanks to Jay for all my stretch marks,my stripes I worked my ass off for. When I feel hopeless I watch Jay's videos and I never had a father, so Jay is like a father figure to me,so to Jay,I say thank you for loving us,the fans,and never giving up,cause you have no idea what it means to people like me who look up to you!!

Jay Cutler A CUT ABOVE! I remember this gave me tears cause this was back when I was running 10 miles a day like 3-4 x a week and tossing weights around. I got a fusion due to accident on spine and blew up but after 3-4 years I’m kinda feeling somewhat ok….. pain is there no doubt but this gave me tears and motivation. What a comeback that year! Physique still gives me chills to this day!
It's crazy how if he hadn't lost he wouldn't have reached such an incredible form. The 09 show is in my opinion one of the best mr olympia not only for Jay's god like physique but the story and context behind it makes it so much more impactful
I am currently on a consistent and drastic remission from my chronic illness and I’ve been watching this video for weeks now. It really motivates me in an unreal degree.
Now, I don’t want the physique I have before the illness, I want a way better one.
(I was bodybuilding before my illness, and I am going to say this without arrogance, I had a great physique)

The best part about what Jay did was he zoned in on what Dex had the advantage in: conditioning. That man stepped on stage the next year with the driest, cleanest, most defined separation ever. He always had the size advantage, but once he had that chip on his shoulder my God he took it to the max 💯
He may not be the best but definitely the GOAT in my eyes. To have to experience the upsets he had to go through and always to the same guy year after year and finishing second 5 out of 6 years and still have the mental strength and the will to continue to give your all and never give up and manage to finally beat the guy and be a 4x Mr. Olympia is amazing!!! I can't imagine how strong you have to be to overcome that; think about it. For me he's the greatest, no doubt in my mind.

I was lucky enough to be at this show, I remember sitting in the audience pinching myself, this was Jays best ever physique, it was Branch Warrens best physique ever and Dexter's best ever.....Dexter should have been 2nd.....but I got to see three legends at their all time best..... What a year 09 was!
