I've had this laser for about a year now, and I highly recommend it. There are always minor bumps in the road when buying a Chinese machine, but you can't beat the price. I also have a 3040 router/engraver and also recommend that. Both machines are made with high quality components and I was very pleasantly surprised. I had an older one of the cheap hobby laser engravers that you can now get for about $500, and those are relatively low quality, slow speed, and have very simplistic software. I would not recommend the cheap hobby laser. The glass CO2 laser tubes seem to last a long time. Even my old hobby laser tube (4-5yrs old) still works. One person mentioned replacing the tube with a more powerful one, but you need to make sure your power supply and other components can handle it first. My 50W tube cuts 5mm plywood with multiple passes.
My school has a similar machine.
We used it with CAD then convert it to an illustrator file to cut bass wood sheets, museum board, chip board and acrylic sheets in one pass

I dunno if its been answered or not, but to change the language from Chinese... when you install Laserworks there is a dropdown box that is default to i think "traditional Chinese" or "Standard Chinese" you can can drop that down to select English and install and it will install everything in english.
Thanks for the videos. I just bought one of these and have been feeling a bit nervous about it. I can't set mine up yet as the shop isn't ready for it. When I do though, having your experence to draw on will be a big help!
Thank you for your videos, i use to have a 30 watt universal M25 laser engraver using coreldraw and photgrav. I am hoping i can use what i learned with this new one which is suppose to be delivered next week.
Got mine from Amazon 12-2-14. The "control panel" is faulty (will not light). Just sent email to Amazon of this concern. Manual says it is under warranty for 2 years. Will keep you informed of progress.

Manufacturers settings (has axis setup , probably has language setup) is accessed by holding "stop" and pressing numbers "6" then "0" then"8"
cool video, I have a 40 watt chinese laser from Ebay that has been with me over a year and still works flawlessly and for 600.00 bucks i cant complain, i do like your cabinet though the cutting area looks great :)
Thanks for your videos, Chad. They helped me feel confident in buying one of these a few months ago. I use it all the time now and I've had really good luck with it. Definitely takes a little time to calibrate the mirrors, but once you get that done..

i got the 40w and it wont power on at all. yes, i did try the emergency stop, and its off. the seller asked if i had checked the fuse under the power outlet. i did but i dont know what im looking for. nothing seems loose. your video was easy and helpful. im hoping to get this thing on!
I just got my laser delivered and unpacked. The machine looks pretty good, but the 4th axis rotary is another story. It literally looks like it was made with a Sawzall and a Dremel tool (so bad that even an amateur would call it a hack job). I thought I might try using it, but the frame wouldn't even sit flat on the bed. Fortunately, I have the machining equipment in my workshop to rebuild it.

Are you happy with the machine,she really does what is advertised and what the max thickness of plywood and acrylic you can cut with 50W

Run Google Translate and point it at the screen. It will translate. There is an option (Press the button at the center of the cursor arrows) and you should see it. In there you can select language to english. Life is much easier after that.
A video on installing the software would be helpful

My Husband bought me a Laser KT4060 from China and we nearly waited a year before we received it. After opening up the crate we did not receive and serial numbers or a user manual. I've received a memory stick but it is in Chinese and believe me, we don't know what to do at all. We are not happy at all. Unfortunately, we bought the machine through a company at the coast and they are not willing to give us the contact details of the suppliers.

Hello, I have bought this Chinese laser machine but i am not able to connect it to my windows 10 machine
i just bought the SCU 1060 laser machine.. What is the process to convert the files from pics to rd files (or whatever file the machine uses to read files) for the machine to use? I'm using RuiDa ACS RDWorksV8..
Software is RDWorksv8. Sent picture of display to Lisa-RuiDa Technology. She underlined the language that would change display to English. Will try it tomorrow.
Was doing a plaque with a "header" and 3 columns of names on 8.5x11 metal plate. The machine would not do it. Waited 10 minutes for it to process...still nothing. It did print the "header" AFTER removing the 3 columns of names. I removed all but 1 column of names and got a strange "beep" when I pressed the start button...nothing happened...10 minutes I waited. Each column had 40 names so I reduced the names to half...still nothing...reduced to 1/4 and it worked with no "beep". I think it is a "processor" issue. Will do a video of this and hopefully have it post on TH-cam tomorrow.
BTW. Got CorelDraw12 to work with RDWorksv8 but not Adobe Illustrator.
We have the same unit at work. Everything was delivered almost broken. Had to put wires in their places. then we stared to use it. The EStop went loose, as does the wires. Now cannot use any button except for RESET. How do you recover from that? Minor error we get all the time when skectching, "ERROR OUT OF MEMORY EXTENTS" Seems we can only use the Outline Mode for anything. THe machine is now unresponsive, as the only button there that works is the RESET button. Will look into it. Nice little etcher. ~$2800.00 from ebay.

That old saying you get what you pay for is unfair for this machine there a hell a lot of machine and complexity for only $2000

for me, though, when i can afford one i'll buy from a reputable company with offices in america that can offer technical support and service. too, it won't be off of ebay, lol. you seem like a really nice guy so i hope this is a great machine for you, but, i'm sorry, there are just too many shady variables involved for me to feel safe about this particular product.
paying more is worth it when what you're adding is tech support, service, better (and real) warranties, name-brand quality, reliability and peace of mind knowing it'll work every time with precision.

All the videos I watched no one uses or talks about the ground on the left side of the machine. Should it be used and best way to set it up properly?

Hello. 6040 50w china. What is the maximum thikness you can cut acrylic you can cut, with one or more pass to have reasonable good edge?

We've had this machine for a few years now and it has worked well. The plastic 21 teeth pulley has gone bad and I need a replacement. Does anyone have a source for parts?
My husband just passed away a month ago, due to illness he could not work but he loved making presents for people. I would design & he would transfer it to wood, plastic or glass. we loved doing this together. the amount of times id ask him to show me how to programme the machine, but I never pushed it because it was something he could do for me. I need simple step by step instructions hope you or anyone can help show me. I just want to do it for personal reasons.

Encountered "WATER 1 ERROR"....I believe it is an issue with the Solenoid Valve, but am not sure if this is the reason that the machine is not functioning anymore. Has anyone encountered this error, and if they have, what has been the workaround for such an issue? Thanks so much!

hey man you might already figured this out I bought one identical to yours found out after the power supply failed 3 days after I got it that they ship those 50 watt machines with 40 watt power supplies and 40 watt laser tubes after finding this out I contacted the supplier on eBay and demanded that they shipped me the right power supply and the right laser tube they wanted no part of me reporting they're false advertisement to eBay LOL

I just got my 50W laser. I have several questions and cannot find any other source of info but you! So I hope you can help. 1- how close/far from the substrate should the laser be? Should I be raising the bed so the piece is nearly touching? 1" away? 6" ? Is there an ideaL? 2- Have you found a setting to eliminate the need for flipping the image? Thanks for any help!

There are a bunch of these lasers out there, can you send a link to the one you purchased so I can get one in English with all those switches and USB etc... It should be in your eBay purchase history...
have you tried using the rotary attachent to engrave the round object like bear glass? if so can you tell us how good it is?
Is this reliable? If you have issues how do you fix them? My father wants to get one but I'm skeptical of buying one off eBay.

to switch to English..select the z/u button in the middle of the direction keys, then press down arrow 9 times that will put you on the 10th box...select enter on keypad, press down arrow twice should be on third box select enter...should be in English.

Hi, I got a used machine. When the machine turns on and the laser head resets the motor wont stop the laser head and it keeps trying to go. Like it's out of calibration. Any ideas. Thanks
Is honeycomb bed required to cut on this laser? Mine also didn't come with one, so I'm unsure if it's safe to cut as is...
Have you been able to engrave some black anodized aluminum to leave markings, like white text such as for marking panels and parts? Thanks. I understand these 50W CO2 laser are not powerful enough to cut aluminum 6061 or such, but i am looking at options to engrave text etc on aluminum parts that are to be black anodized.
Sean McDonald's RC channel - I am in the same situation. I got a manufacturer I make parts for that need to have his hard black anodized parts marked and this looks like a sweet option to make it happen! I am surfing through all the comments and no one seems to be addressing this issue. Most people want to CUT THROUGH the material. We just want to break into the material by .005. Can anyone answer this question? Thanks!

I recently purchased the Model KH-7050, physically the mechanics seem to be working, however I have not been able to get the driver to work, I get a message of no communication when I try to send a file to it. The software sent with the machine was CorelDraw... I design with and would like to use Adobe Illustrator. Is there a drive available fpr ILLUSTRATOR ?
Have you been able to change the speed when the program runs? I've found that when I change the speed, it only affects the speed when I'm using the jog keys, when it outlines the frame, or when it it is just repositioning itself. When I start it cutting, it uses some preset speed that never changes.

Great job on your videos. I'm considering getting a 100watt model. I'm concerned about the shipping. It's "free shipping" to the US (to either an LA or NYC port). Then I have to pay shipping (or go pick it up, which isn't gonna happen because I'm near Chicago), and pay for customs and anything else they throw at me. Any thoughts on that? Did your shipping or customs fees ramp up the price?

Got my laser engraver a month ago and love it. The software is a hassle, but is RDWorks the only software compatible with the laser? I've used Inkscape for a few drawings and then RDWorks sucks for importing certain items. What's the easiest way to get a handle on the software? I still can't figure out how to thicken the lines on the software haha. Any help would be awesome!

dood! this is way late but have you tried the google translate app where it uses the camera to translate other languages live? a friend bought a vinyl cutter that was set in japanese and it's how he figured out how to set it to english

I just bought a new 6090 CO2 laser. I can engrave but cant get it to cut. Not even 2mm. Any ideas?
Just to clarify in case people are wondering, Ebay is not a place or a store. You cannot buy anything "from" ebay, because it's just a site and connects buyers and sellers. You can buy stuff "over" and "thru" ebay, however and the nice thing about ebay is they give both buyer and seller protection against fraud. Of course this can be abused, but having been a member (and power seller) since 1999, it's gotten better over time. Always just be sure to pay with PayPal to get the full consumer protection!

I have a SinJoe Laser Etching 80Watt Laser Engraving Machine that I have had nothing but issues with since it arrived. The company I bought it from Laser Depot in Las Vegas. I have contacted them and SinJoe in China repeatedly and cannot get any help! Im using Laser Cad Software. When I export a design from Corel Draw and then import it into Laser Cad it downloads to the machine just fine. It shows up correctly on the LED screen on the machine, however when I start it, it burns the design at a slant instead of straight up and down. I have aligned the lasers so I feel that it is a software issue, but I am lost and sitting here with an 8,000.00 machine I cant use. In addition it did not come with a laser pointer or the rotary attachment. They sent the attachment later but I have no clue how to install it. I cant find anyone in the San Antonio area that knows how to work on it. Any assistance you can offer would be much appreciated!

Hi Chad, we also have this laser, we use it mainly for engraving glass trophies. Just recently we have run into a problem where the engraver reports an error message (we had it translated - out of memory) when working on Logo art work as part of the engraving. I'm wondering if you have come across this, or if anyone else out there has any suggestions on how we can solve this? much appreciated, Hellyn
Hey guys - when we install the software for this machine - it comes up with a Chinese symbol with an explanation symbol in a yellow triangle - must be something to do with the USB drives. Anyone had this problem? Software is RDWorksv8. Thanks

Here is a photo of the EnGrish screen on the laser. I had to take photos and text them to my Japanese friend to translate. In all my years dealing with machine tools screens and menu for language is usally in the origin country and english.

+Rolf Glockner Rolf wish I could help. I'm far from an expert and would not know where to begin. I use Laserworks as well so I'm no familiar with RDworks. Perhaps another user on here can jump in here??
+Chad Schimmel change the usb port u r using on the laser machine. If it doesn't help u then please update the driver directly from the windows. I've faced this issue couple of times. Last time it happened when i reinstalled a 64bit windows 7 and the same error was kept showing. I updated all possible intel's ingine and communication software, installed rdworks, then found that my device (laser machine) wasn't correctly communicating with my system from windows device manager. Then i just right clicked on the device and updated the driver. Bingo it worked.
I was trying to read through the comments. but gave up. I'm looking for an Acrylic Template cutter and engraver. Will this machine do that? Is it a bit more than I need? Or would you recommend it ?
Thanks for great video Chad. I got mine today and I am trying to do some work but i have problem when cutting 3 mm acrylic. It either burn the acrylic (it goes black) or it does not go through. I've tried all zillion combinations of speed/power ration but i can't find the right one. Any suggestion? Am I doing something wrong?

+Srkyboykg Have you tried using masking tape over your acrylic to cut back of the charing (blackening of the piece)? Some masking tapes have enough of a wax of the fabric surface to quell some overheating of the surrounding area.
Been using my laser for a month or so. It no longer fires a laser.

i would imagine there could be a lot of things that could go wrong, from overheating to a defective laser assembly. that's why when i can afford a laser it'll be from a company with a good reputation, like epilog or vision or someone. sure, these things are built in china so the quality is what it is, but i'll require actual technical support and service performed in the states.

WoodTurning with Larry glad you got it working. apparently, with glass tubes you need a water-cooled system, but with metal tubes they're air-cooled. i hope you get your money's worth out of it. :)
