I saw them twice ... in '71 and again in '72 ... Meddle and DSOTM tours. There is no doubt that they are the two best concerts I ever saw. No other group came close and I saw a lot of them. Floyd had an emotional, transcendent quality that no one else could match. There would be quiet moments and you'd hear nothing from the audience ... they were transfixed ... waiting for the next moment and then Bam ... more Pink Floyd. For me, this is Pink Floyd at it's best.
didnt know why i liked the song so much, now you make me remember of the grey elves marching in hope of sailing to Valinor, this kind of eerie, melancholic feeling
I saw Pink Floyd at the Brighton Dome in 1969 and chatted with the four of them at the stage door afterwards. They all signed my program which unfortunately my mum threw away while clearing out my bedroom! Grrrr!
@@davidslowhand5172I hate to compare. That's not even close. The End has 'hits hard in the face' lyrical crescendo that cuts with precision in the Doors debut album even as Roger was yet to achieve that grip upon his poetry whilst Jim was already there from the very beginning of the Doors.
Only 2 full songs were filmed at this show. Well, there could be more since a lot of the performance looks like rehearsal footage because of how close the camera men were in Careful With That Axe Eugene. If you look closely at the Rick shots, you can see Roger with his bass. He doesn't have his bass in the beginning of Set The Controls. Also, at 2:00 that's Echoes iirc.
yes there is more footage than just these 2 songs, but what you said there was just wrong. Roger does play bass in STC, he just does it after his singing and gong banging. Gilmour also does use the slider in STC, again in the later portion of the song. Just look at a performance like this: th-cam.com/video/XkXhwk1LFAg/w-d-xo.html . Therefore, Cliffton just edited the footage to have later unused parts of the song at the beginning because it's more visually interesting, or the other shots weren't good enough. Also, where are you getting that "no June 72 shows" statement from? Wikipedia? PF have officially said it's the 29th (seen in this description and in TEY for example), and there's bootleg audio for the 28th June? Unless that is wrong too? Please send me the source on that one, because I have the internet showing me ticket stubs for 29th June on that one, seen here :) twitter.com/brightdome/status/1277587627324080129 Just do some research before saying this stuff, it's not difficult lol
Li adoro
With this performance, at least in my mind, Pink Floyd and Hawkwind have something like a fly-by, approaching, meeting, and leaving again, each on their own voyage.
Love this! This song embodies the very self of Pink Floyd, this is probably the root of their whole musical world. They found their real tone as a band here.👍❤️🎼🎵🎶
Saw Dark Side of the Moon in S.F. in 74, the Wall in L.A , two other times. I wish I'd seen them earlier. One of the most brilliant bands ever. Real time 48 channels of quadrophonic sound, zeiss planetarium projector, three large screens, even the sounds of birds flying inside the Cow Palace during intermission, but there were no birds flying inside. Phenomenal band ! ❤🤍💙❤🤍💙❤💙❤🤍💙
Such awesome talent! Shame egos get in the way. Saw the Wall in Colorado. Only time I've seen Pink Floyd in the States. Red Rocks was the perfect surreal place for the biggest concert production ever! Cheers from the Rockies of Utah.🍻
Pink Floyd never played Red Rocks, it was the tribute band Brit Floyd. The Wall was only performed in Dortmund, London, Los Angeles and Uniondale in 1980 and 1981.
It seems like there is a cut between improvisation part and chorus (around 8:27), that should come after last verse. But we don`t hear last verse in this video. Apperently, it wasn`t captured for some reason.

The best band from the 70s. My favourite. Incredible.____👍🏻🎸💯
Pink Floyd isn’t Roger’s radical ideas, Gilmour’s soul lifting solos, Richard’s psychedelic sounds or Nick’s aggressive drumming style.
Pink Floyd was the middle ground between them.

True, but when Roger left floyd died.
And when all is said and done, I can say I was here for the premiere

Lyrics
Little by little the night turns around
Counting the leaves which tremble at dawn
Lotuses lean on each other in yearning
Under the eaves the swallow is resting
Set the controls for the heart of the sun
Over the mountain watching the watcher
Breaking the darkness waking the grapevine
One inch of love is one inch of shadow
Love is the shadow that ripens the wine
Set the controls for the heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
Witness the man who raves at the wall
Making the shape of his question to heaven
Whether the sun will fall in the evening
Will he remember the lesson of giving?
Set the controls for the heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
The heart of the sun
