      @@spitfireaace I suspect David is completely done with anything to do with Pink Floyd. The only reason this latest single was released under the name Pink Floyd was to generate attention and donation revenue. I don't think there will be any more Pink Floyd tours or concerts, let alone new music (unless David finds some other worthy cause, which is not likely to happen). But it does look like he's not completely retired from music, as there are some rumours that he is working on a new solo album. We might hear one or two Pink Floyd songs in concert, if he decides to have a concert, but it will the same mellow classics written by him, like Fat Old Sun and the like.

Especially if Gilmour also did some guest appearance like he did with the Pretty Things S.F. Sorrow live concert The Final Bow. Brilliant idea of Nick's to revisit their psychedelic past, thats where they 1st made their indelible & brilliant mark & when i 1st heard them & became a lifelong fan!

So I joined too.They gave me the job of DJ. 1st song I inserted in the radio was this one. Funny thing happened: They never asked me to "radio Dj" after this. It was apparently "too much" for the radio students team. Now close to 50+/- years, I'm still listening to it ;-)

    I was at this show at the Beacon. And holy crap..the show was absolutely phenomenal without Roger being there..go see them if you get a chance!! It was the most amazing most psychedlic show I've ever been to. Being at the one and only show that Roger sat in on made it so extra special though...it was a night I'll never forget. I will definitely be going again if Nick hopefully continues touring with this band...solo wise.. except for the first time I saw Gilmour solo...this was easily my second favorite show out of all the solo shows I've seen between Waters, Gilmour and now Nick Mason. Saucerful of secrets is seriously mind blowing!!

    Roger the genius, Roger the destroyer: always Waters over all. During the 6 gold years (73-79) what PF would have been without Waters? Who could have created those 4 gold LP ? (The Dark, Wish you, Animals and The Wall)

    • @KennethDonnellyStargazer21
      @KennethDonnellyStargazer21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It was a four-part chemistry not easily defined. I dislike Roger's solo efforts, but like the rest of the member's; and as with the Beatles, PF was truly a product of all five, then four. This particular song is an all time favorite, and influences me to this day. Before I would go out playing live in the last few years, the two live acts I would listen to for inspiration were Type O Negative and early PF, especially Floyd pre-72.. I found both impressive.
      To be fair, Roger can be brilliant, wrote my favorite song of all, Set the Controls.. which done live back then was an ultimate classic for me...iconic. But Roger is acerbic and satirical, bitter, wounded, and channels these into his work.
      All perfectly valid. But for me the music must speak louder than words.
      Cheers

    This is honestly my favorite Pink Floyd partial “reunion”. Better than David doing Comfortably Numb with Roger, better than Rick, Nick, and David doing the Syd Barrett tribute, and way better than David and Roger’s charity benefit reunion (I’m not talking about Live 8). This was spontaneous and cool to see. Seeing Roger hit that gong like old times just feels the most like what a Pink Floyd reunion could be. Just the remaining members of Pink Floyd rocking out to the early material and having fun paying tribute to Syd, the man who inspired them to not only be songwriters.

      Gilmour is the fly in the ointment. They would tour again if he weren't such a lazy curmudgeon these days. It is his life, if he feels as though he is done with the Floyd (and he does), then that's that. Nick and Roger, however, are still young at heart and want to enjoy every moment that they still can and be active.
