LVD i just cant get tired of your videos, not just an amazing deckbuilder and an amazing player, but also a great video editor. Classical music is another nice touch. Everything you play i get excited to spend my wild cards on.
Just went Mythic with this. Easiest climb of my life, pretty nasty torturing all these non ranked players with this beast. Wich reminds me, maby u could include some ranked games in ur vids. Just helps evaluating the decks while watching. Thanks for the awesome content anyways.
Deck is awesome and so much fun. For anyone looking to build this, I've been teching it for a while. Here's some sweet sleepers: 1x Allosaurus Shepherd To fill 1-drop slot, is a shaman, and makes CoCo uncounterable. Also we have a nonzero number of elves for the pump ability. 2x Song of Freyalise Amazing 2-off for the deck. Tree into Tree into Song, using the them as mana dorks to deploy our hand the following turn. Then the turn after, slap a +1/+1 counter on ALL dudes and swing for lethal Rageforger triggers. 1x Metallic Mimic Did you know this was in the format? I didn't. I've seen Grumgully in some lists, but this is just better. I've also found naming Human can be good depending on the hand, and Elemental if you have a bunch of Pyromancer triggers coming. Honorable Mentions: Realmwalker He's been pushed out of my list in favor of more 1-drops. But I tested games where I won ripping Burning-Trees and card draw dudes off the top of my library. Probably better in the sideboard for Bo3. Hall Monitor This looks like a fairly underpowered card. But it fills enough roles that I'm testing 2x now. 1-drop shamans are in short supply, it's the weakest part of the deck's curve. Also, the deck is hungry for some kind of haste thing in any form.
We dueled AFR draft last night(over here in the states)you were playing blue/white. We dueled once before in Magic Duels and it made one of videos. Just wanted to say hey and it was cool getting paired up again on Arena
I've been playing this deck since seth streamed it on mtggoldfish and it's incredible how good this deck is. Never played historic before and went from platinum 4 to diamond 4 very fast. The matchups against combo, phoenix and elves were very tight but i won almost all of the matches. The only card that i think is not as good as it sounds in this deck is seasoned pyromancer. Sometimes it made me discard cards i didn't want to and it get kind of stuck in my hand with the RR mana cost. Wasn't sure how to replace it but realmwalker and ruinblaster sounds great since the list i play has fauna shaman on those slots. Keep up the good work!
Actually Seasoned Pyromancer is a beast here. It's not the win condition, but the icing on the cake because it does everything: card selection, fixes hands with too many lands, provides you card advantage if you have 1 or 0 cards in your hand, fills the board with 1/1 bodies... and it can provide 2 extra 1/1 bodies when it's on the graveyard. It does a lot of things, none of them are specially powerful, but it offers a HUGE value only for 1RR.
@@Gravewurm yeah, i kind of agree, but the problem is that when you use it with the main engine on the battlefield it can really wreck your gameplan since the discard effect can get out of control. Since i prefer to play bo1, i've actually ended cutting off my 4 pyromancer for 2 realm walkers, 1 of the goblin that can blow lands and 1 of the legendary shaman from forgotten realms that creates copies of your creatures when she attacks. It actually made my win rate increase with the deck but i'm not that into historic.
This is probably one of the most satisfying and fun decks to play in Historic. I'm just a bit afraid of Seasoned Pyromancer or Burning Tree Emissary getting banned eventually (Emissary was suspended for 3 months although they finally put it back).
Haha opponent just saw a bunch of triggers and assumed something broken was happening. Did not matter those were prowess triggers. That said would have been hilarious if you had a fling
I reached mythic with a bo3 version of this deck! Nice to see other people also running realmwalker with shamans! What would you use as sideboard? Curious to know, and if maybe you would change something in mainboard, like having ruinblaster in sideboard
Another awesome video! Are we going to get a limited set review this set? I've not drafted in a long time but watching reruns of your old drafts on your vacation has me excited to try it out again
Any suggestions how to replace seasoned pyromancer? I tried bonecrusher giant. Despite having no actual synergies with the deck, it's still 4/3 with built-in removal and can be found by CoCo. Performed quite well, but I would love to get your opinion.
Cards I considered include Fauna Shaman, Viashino Pyromancer and Fanatic of Mogis. Neither is a great replacement, but the deck can certainly win without Seasoned Pyromancer. Alternatively you can go with a build that focuses more on instants and sorceries, with cards like Young Pyromancer and even Guttersnipe, although it would look much different than the deck featured here.
Hey LegenVD, I've been running this deck for a while and a lack of wildcards forced me to play viashino pyromancer in place of the shatterskull smashing, and doubling it's ETB with prodigy has been devastating! If I wanted to move the deck away form shamans and into wizards, would you recommend mono-red, izzet, or something even more ambitious like grixis?
@@LegenVD Perhaps you could play a jeskai control list with flicker effects? Viashino pyromancer constantly entering the battlefield AND having it's ability double/trebled could be devastating, though my collection is hopelessly sparce. Perhaps a future video, when all other ideas are spent?
Jurato was a typical sour player who didnt like that his elf swarm/engine wasnt as good as yours, they were probably also complaining that they didnt win on the 4th turn. You can tell a lot about people, just by how they play games actually.
Absolutely. Under such circumstances everybody shows there real face. That's the reason why I love magic so much. I've played paper magic against so many "nice guys" , though under such situations, they showed me their real face. Nothing is more unraveling than playing Magic.
I think it's in large part due to just MTG arena having 0 interaction between players apart from a few emotes that most people interpret as being sarcasm. Not saying it's great to do anyway and not saying there aren't assholes playing mtg but you can easily get to a point where you only care about your own thing going off cause that's how the game is built. I wouldn't label every player as being so sour when they concede when they feel they've lost, especially when it's not the first time they've seen gruul shamans pop off. I think it's in large part just the game that doesn't allow for much love back and forth between players.

Beautiful. Any consideration for using smashing on the two arch druids at 11:45 since they don't really have any other strong mana generators in play?
It's an option, although with Castle Garenbrig it only takes them an extra land before they can activate their Sheperd which is still problematic.
