Too late we are blocked by a millisecond speeds soon as we clicked to comment ...
Honestly considering lots of devs social posting activities were mainly on Facebook and Twitter and how cursed these platforms were and are still, filled with neglected children, insane people and bots, just like all social media of today too so no wonder why they keep blocking people left and right and have developed zero tolerance over anything.
It really came to the point where I couldnt tell if someone is joking or seriously have issues ... So I ended up too either ignoring or blocking people. Eventually I just stopped logging in.

That's a nice sentiment but it doesn't work very well when you're blocking and antagonizing your own customers.
Hideki Kamiya is very talented. He's also very arrogant. He quit Capcom, did things his way at Platinum, and now he's asking Capcom to take him back and let him direct a new game while showing no humility.

Japanese studios set up by industry veterans, making youtube channels where they invite and talk to their old coleuges from the past is my new favourite genre. I was close to 10yrs late playing Okami but was going through a very rough time in life as well. It was such an uplifting game and just what I needed at the time. In a way; although I regret not being part of the initial sales; I'm glad I saved my first playthrough. I can't even recall what was negative in my life as it's been replaced with how adorable and fun Okami is to play.

This is actually more often than not the case when you try to build a "dream team" by picking all the best members from different departments. Judging from this conversation alone, I would guess Kamiya san was the kind of leader who saw talents more than characters, so the team dynamics was indeed in the hands of God.

Hideki Kamiya, in the first 2 minutes of this interview, uncovered the biggest flaw in Social Media. The Social Media systems only show you the bits and pieces of a conversation that will make you question and engage, but the systems do not show you the bits and pieces that would calm you down by providing the full answer. Because Social Media is built on engagement having users see the answer immediately would make them not interact any further, but interaction is what Social Media systems want the most. And that is why Hideki Kamiya receives the same question countless times - the system is built to not provide the answer he gave to it's users, just so they keep engaging with the system.

This is such a beautiful video. I don't think I've ever seen Japanese developers speak so candidly and honestly about their career, their own shortcomings and having genuine banter and laughs along the way. I think Kamiya and Nakamura are both in an interesting position right now: being either unemployed or independent, unshackled from the cold corporate structure of big game corporations in Japan, they can speak freely without worry of getting in trouble.
When every interview with a JP developer feels as formal as a Nintendo Direct, this is totally cathartic and refreshing.

"perhaps Kamiya is a scary person, the way he sometimes responds on Twitter" I thought, watching this video and the ones on his channel where the truth is actually discovered.....he is a big nerd. I love nerd Kamiya, I see the passion that makes such a personality come to life.

Kamiya in the early days of Twitter was a completely different guy. He responded to everyone and was enthusiastic and helpful. Then some weirdos kept asking him incredibly obscure questions about DMC and it broke him. From that point on his Twitter persona became a critique of Twitter itself, exclusive to Twitter. The real Kamiya always stayed the same though.

What a lovely conversation! Just a small correction, when Kamiya is talking about the infamous 1.5 that Mikami allowed him to restart development on, he's almost certainly referring to Biohazard 1.5 and not Bayonetta 1.5, I believe.
