      Hell yeah! A full orchestra of otamatones. I can already imagine the fancy dancy expensive high-quality otamatones and everyone in suits being super serious and professional. All those little otamatone faces looking at the conductor waiting to open their chubby mouths and singing perfectly in tune and harmonized with the other otamatone sections. I’d pay to see that.

    Are the notes evenly distributed? If so it should be fairly easy to index them in whole notes and make some kind of easily identifiable notches, grooves, or holes on the side, as reference points. Could be done to simulate frets or simply to have the middle- or fix points, like on an accordion.

    If this doesn’t have recognized or standardized scales, idk if perfect pitch really matters for this. The biggest benefit is being able to make the right interval or find a scale, which is probably where the cello part contributes.
    I’m a classically trained flutist myself, and I DID take about 2-3 years of cello, so that was pretty cool to see that.

    I just ordered one and I can already tell, we're gonna be the opposite ends of the Otomatone spectrum xD I've been playing guitar for - 17+ years now and let's just say - people who can play a song just by hearing it confuse my brain so much. I mean - when I hear a note, I can tell if the one I play is the same or not, but my brain has never been able to do the whole task of hearing it, recognizing it, knowing where it is on my instrument and then playing it. That's just - not my world. But what I can do is read music and remember how to play it. Idk why my brain has difficulty hearing a note and identifying it when I have no problem seeing a note in sheet music and telling you if you played that note or not. So yeah. While you sit there and just master the Otamatone by listening to music, I know I'm gonna sit here with my sheet music and learn where every note is on the thing and get way too technical with a music toy, but oh man, I know I'm gonna have so much fun xD

    Just hooked mine up to a Strymon Timeline. Yep. Pretty much what you'd expect. Really gets good and creepy with that reverse phase shifting swell delay and whatever you want to throw in the wash. Thanks for the vid!

    Have you tried the line out with headphones? Does it work with headphones?

    • @therowanskye
      @therowanskye  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah! That is a great question. I have, but strangely, as far as I can remember, it still makes noise from the speakers even while you are hearing it through the headphones. The newer versions may not be that way, but it was certainly a fault with the model that I have.

    Thank you for sharing! Perfect pitch jealous lol, I want that talent! I have been trying to figure out which size and type to buy since my 10 yr old son told me he wanted one for Christmas 2 weeks ago. Phew Gotta get my amazon 2 day prime shipping hustle on like yesterday. So I’m hoping you have the chance to answer these questions, today. I can do appreciate a “tips & basics”, for a novice. Yes you are correct. If you have time to be jack off and leave negative comments. Indeed get to college, true productivity😉...okay 👌 that’s how you get a note in tone. My son plays percussion and the piano. Hell I can’t play a tune in a bucket🤷‍♀️....I’m sure he will be able to figure it out. Does it show where the notes are? Also I have a few questions for ya. Is the white one a deluxe version? what is the difference when it says English vs. Japanese version? What is the difference between the original version and the techno version if you know? Once again thanks a million!

    I am trying to think how this would compare to playing violin. Is the scale consistent the whole length? I mean at least you don't have the same complex right hand techniques to learn that you get on strings, and you don't have to deal with 4 strings. How hard can it be... Although I wouldn't have landmarks like the scroll and saddle either..
    I think the theremin would be a nightmare to learn, no tactile feedback at all, the shape of the room or someone moving could throw your setup off completely.
