lightweight low power builds seem to have it so rough in GLTC....nice driving Jackie! oh and you need a rear view camera so we can see the cars on your tail!
Car looks fantastic. Such delicious 80s flavor. GridLife should invite Hot Version to come check out an event. Maybe you could actually get DK himself to drive your car. 😂
Fully understand the challenge part. I also have an AE86 with 9AGTE with 500whp and no ABS, no traction control, no power steering and love it. It is an analog beast you need to tame it…. Thumbs up for building and racing it!
racing a car like an 86 w/o abs specially in the rain. that brake bite control is just insane. youre foot is literally the cars abs. thats why a bare basic car like the 86 is a good car for sharpening your skills. good driving bro. your skills can outperform any car with abs paired with that throttle control.
gotta love it, gotta have it! as time goes on things will get sorted out and I'm looking forward to seeing how far up the grid you can get with everything working as intended!
We should have VTC but I don’t have data logging working in this car yet. Post event we did find several cracks in the header, so that might have been the issue too
I would love too the addition of a Wheel camera on one of the front wheels in another split s creen.. Watching the wheels follow his inputs, I imagine would be epic to see.
Oh boy, one more camera to keep charged throughout the weekend and one more video to try and sync up with the main cam, pedal cam and data overlay 🤣🤣 I typically spend at least 2-3 hours just making sure all the pedal cam and data overlay are in sync with the main cam. Obviously an Aim Smartycam simplifies some of that but I prefer to put out content that doesn’t look like it came from a camera made in the 80s
Great car Jackie, love it and lovely driving. Car sounds off between shifts, first thing that comes to mind is gear ratio needs to be closer, tuning could be off or a combination of things. Need more rear grip, softer rear sway and or springs or both. Keep it up, love it!
Bringing a literal AE86 to GLTC is the biggest Chad move in the universe. You can't even get mad at being beat by it, after that whole incident with [insert Initial-D team name who got rekt].
So much fun sliding around with you in the rain! I think my car has a similar raw, not easy to drive experience like your 86. We need to find an excuse to have you drive it. I’m glad I didn’t get too in the way ahead a lap down. See you at Road America?
Nice driving man, tough competition. Thanks for the text commentary during the lap. Have you tried reducing the rear roll bar stiffness for better drive off the corner? Car looks like a handful but fun.
There's a lot you can do to improve the AE86's handling. You know... you can get 1-2 degrees of rear camber if you rebuild the rear axle with the right shims. Might be just what you need to battle properly in the corners!
So good! cant beat a good ole 86. you probably had more fun than most! literally reminded me of Tsuchiya in the one of the Best Motoring vids from the early 2000's
If you can get the rear end to hook, you might be able to fight with that old tin can. You may be able to do a decent lap with a car that loose, but you can't place it well mid corner or maintain pace on a compromised line in the pack it's going to be a tough go. Grip looked a lot better on the third race. Dropped rear tire pressures? Sure looks fun!
Dude…. Oh man…. So entertaining! What a car! Absolutely stunning! Definitely post more of this car. I will watch them all. Where is the die-cast model?
Do you have someone helping with the rear suspension/strait axle tuning? I know in a different video you mentioned redoing the rear link mounts at some point. The way it appears to be handling looks similar to a lot of the issues I worked through with my cutlass. Getting the rear geometry figured out will transform the way it drives.
Hey Jackie, awesome driving and nice Hachi! I wanted to ask, how is your foot pedal cam mounted? Could you share what you're using mount and camera wise? Big thanks!
What a great video!!! Love this car so much! But I think, as beautiful as they sound if you want to be competitive, the itb's have to go... A good intake manifold will give you way more power everywhere else on the curve. You need to maximize the area under the curve while being on your power limit.
When you mentioned the car is geared too short for Gingerman, may I ask what transmission and final drive you're using? I have a similar project, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to be miserable with the final drive I've chosen.
have less air in the tyre cause it looks like they got stone hard after some laps, the heat blow em up & make em even wors,,its a real beauty you got, might bee have a less nice car with a fast engine, and race with,so you not get worry of smashing and dent the car, thats a heavy xtra weight on your shoulders, you got the car control, thats for sure
The steering wheel misaligned wasn’t a distraction? I had something similar in my last race and made the corners feel never ending. Anyway, great car, great race!
tell me about it. zero brake lights, just kept on plowing through. hit them for a moment finally at the apex, then kept plowing through. I hope there was at least an issue somewhere and not just stupidity, but it seemed like they were divebombing people constantly in a previous race and caused incidents there too, but I might be confusing it with another car. if not, I hope Adam says they're out. whole point of GLTC is no-contact close racing.
Hey @jackie or anyone else, when you/he catches himself in a low rpm range, esp coming out of a corner, but not worth the downshift, I think hes dumping the clutch quickly like in 28:50, why is that, would you not upset the car or the balance by jolting the drivetrain or causing traction slip when it reengages? If someone could explain that would be awesome! 29:56 god i feel this, im in a duel in time attack with a ND who gaps me on every straight ive never been more humiliated
It's an old trick people use when dropping out of the power band but down-shifting would be too slow or not beneficial. Essentially, by stepping on the clutch, it allows the engine to rev up, higher into the power band, then dropping the clutch will give a "boost" because of that, pushing it out of the engine "lugging" at lower RPMs quicker than just staying flat. Hope that makes sense.
GLTC is limited to 200TW tires, and only select ones (No A052, no RE71RS, etc.). Jackie is definitely limited in compound choices due to the wheel size sadly.
I sold mine in 2011. I deeply regret that decision to this day. If you had two cars in adentical condition,. Hatch or Cupe? On a completely different subject. Door cards on a SR5 are nicer than GTS.
That car control is absolute class🔥
cleanest car on the grid
… for now 🤣
I want to agree, but Kutil's Civic is a JTCC dream.
Great video, the pedal cam make it more imerssive, the panic when you lock the rear and nice clutch kick, thank you for these video
A roof 360 cam would be cool too. That way you can show the other cars position as you battle.
Here for the AE86 content. Good driving dude!
GLTC is just SCCA GT and TC from the 2000's but modern. Really cool.
I wasn’t following SCCA back then but sounds like I missed out as a kid 😅
This car makes me so happy. Can't wait for Connie and the Dream86 to have some fun around TMP together!
86 Lookin FIRE

"If AE86 had an Anime Opening! GLTC intro" once enuf memories are made 🙏🙏🙏🤞
Jackie this intro gave me chills. The car is absolute fire and I'm so happy to be following along with you!

I really enjoyed the racing, broadcast and your resilience.
Great car and development
Brother!!!! That was absolutley fantastic to watch, FREEKING BRILLIANT!!!!
Awsome Race, hearing that K24 scream is awsome!
I’m so happy for you. Easily one of my favorite builds on the grid.
Financially impossible to compete in this series, but great to watch the clips!
So good to see you peddling behind a k-series again! Car looks sick, good luck with the season!!!
It’s like you have no VTC in that K!? You had it on the dyno?

Take a look at beau Yates ae86, he has this and was able to change it at different tracks
Damn this video had it all. What a journey
So good! cant beat a good ole 86. you probably had more fun than most! literally reminded me of Tsuchiya in the one of the Best Motoring vids from the early 2000's
Your steering rack seems to have been connected up wrong. You keep having to turn the opposite way through all the corners 😅 Love it!
Brah!!! Serious Marlboro vibes I love it! You’re now the Marlboro Man!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is the best content man! Love it.
Pretty sure everyone loves the AE86 content! Nice job on the first race :)

Well done. Awesome race.
At 24:31, when recovering from the lockup, you jab the clutch twice while accelerating. Why?
Such great content man, amazing driving and build. Would love to see behind the scenes of the changes into the next event ❤
I love this. Great driving my man, sweet car.
you guys did it so quick, amazing car. AT some point you have more fun in that than in huge hp cars. Congrats guys great job
You got to Midwest way early!
Excellent video. Many thanks for racing your dream car!
Was wondering when it was going to get a livery
Badass mate.
Awwww...man! Love it!
Maybe addapting a multilink rear suspension, i feel the truck rearend ... i mean the solid rear axle has its limitations on handling...
Great driving! Why is the car so slow on the straights comparatively?
Daniil Kvyat Torpedo Strike! 19:00
Dude…. Oh man…. So entertaining! What a car! Absolutely stunning! Definitely post more of this car. I will watch them all. Where is the die-cast model?
I love this car and the driving! hard to tell from the videos though but it looks like it could do with a letter less rear compression
AMAZING!!!! LOVE THE INTRO
I’m only 5 minutes in and this video is so epic. Congrats

I see a new PhD Racing vlog, instant energy rush for me.
Also, I really love the car control throughout the race so much!^^
Uhhh you have an inventory of 86 replacement body panels hidden away?!?
Hey Jackie, awesome driving and nice Hachi! I wanted to ask, how is your foot pedal cam mounted? Could you share what you're using mount and camera wise? Big thanks!
Love it man! But wtf was that car thinking into T1 at the start of race 2?
Hell yeah!! Awesome video and amazing build homie!!

This car doesn't have ITB... We have a K24, lol
@@JackieDing86 So sorry lol! I know about the k24 but I don't know why I was under the impression you were running itb's on it xD
How is Wally's Gran Torino holding up Tao?
Beautiful. What are the wheels and specs?
15x10 -25 squared but rear has a 25mm spacer so… rear is a -50 🤣🤣🤣
Get it bro!
When you mentioned the car is geared too short for Gingerman, may I ask what transmission and final drive you're using? I have a similar project, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to be miserable with the final drive I've chosen.
I have a S2000 AP2 trans with a 4.3 final drive. Switching it up soon
The car looks sick… but where's the yellow fog lamps?
They’re literally like a grand a pair lol
@@JackieDing86 Bruh. The JDM tax is real. Maybe DIY? Just for the lolz? 😂

E46 going bowling at the start of race 2 lol
3sgt3... Needed
Would you and could you put a 3.5 gear?
This car has a S2000 six speed... so no. lol
Why did the 350z just go sliding into the grass?
I believe he had an ABS failure
Hey man, awesome car control. What camera do you use for your helmet?
You should install racing ABS.
Jackie brother, it doesn't cost $20,000 to get 200whp plus out of a 7A. You can do it for less than $10,000.
Oh, so ben didnt get the civic fixed in time
As a great philosopher once said; "Better a slow car fast, than a fast car slow."
Does the class allow stickier tires?
GLTC is limited to 200TW tires, and only select ones (No A052, no RE71RS, etc.). Jackie is definitely limited in compound choices due to the wheel size sadly.
Let’s gooo
Looks like Ben from g&g checking out your car 😊
BF Goodrich?!? Where the Nankang?!? 😂
Sikk 86, for real though. I'm not a big 86 guy.
“Wait there’s a gap!” LMAO
You would have been top10 easily if that suspension was sorted - was a handful.
Man you gotta figure out a way to dial out the oversteer.. it’s killing your overall time you lose so much fighting the car in every corner.
Need sone ponys !!
Love it!!! Wheel to wheel racing with the 86!
The rear tyres must be made of hard plastic 😅
That was me playing that music at 18:00. Sorry.
Genuine concern is always welcome lol
more 86 pls
A rear view camera angle would be better than a camera on your feet.
Necesito el Instagram de ese S2k Black 😳
whoever rear-ended in turn 1 must have thought he was playing forza haha

how to win:
just drive faster
nice video
Love the car control but car too free… sliding all over the corners… hopefully you can get lil more out of the handling
Why in the world did I get rid of my ae86?!!!
I’m 2 in and looking into a 3rd. Lol
