In this episode I am riding from Elista to Stavropol in Russia. Getting stopped by police always makes me nervous and Russian police is no exception!

The Russian policeman asked her "Permis de conduire" (driving license) in French. Very courteousand polite policeman indeed.
Hahaha. French?? I didn't expect.
It is written in Russian and French in Russian driver’s licenses because of an old drivers convention or something. So the police officer sees Permis de condure every day and it took him a few seconds to recall how to say it in English
@@suncheck8745 It is also in French in Dutch licenses, only so small, one can hardly read it.
"Permis de conduire" is an european international name for the driving license according to Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (1968). It should be written on every national driving license of the member states.
Mongolian here. My old driving license also had "Permis de conduire". I always wondered why it was written in French.

@@usersuser797 а почему люди обязаны знать Английский? Я его 7 лет изучал в школе и ещё 6 лет в колледже и университете. Только толку от этого ноль. За это же время я самостоятельно стал изучать Словацкий язык. И на много больше в этом преуспел. Так что не всем дано знать английский язык. Он не такой лёгкий.
One thing that strikes me as she's travelling by all that farmland is that for me, this could easily be in west/central Ohio where I live. The look, the roads, they're identical. This is amazing and reminds me, we're really not that different.
Tom you speak about Russian tour between Kazakhstan and Georgia? It look like Ohio? I imagine that part of Usa a bit hillier and with more woods...
@@milosdrca4484 You can find hilly, forested areas in Ohio. But you will also see a lot of flat farm land as well.

in Russia mandatory to have driving licence with you and vehicle document, because some people drive vehicles without license .especially youngsters on bikes. and police checking them from time to time
@@Jack908r Yes, a very good learning experience. This is the only channel that I bother to read the comments. Nor only do we get to see far away places but there are always people who can explain the little subtleties that we might otherwise miss. Such a great community of followers.
But the russian policemen don't right to stop anyboby without a official reason. Unfortunality they don't work correctly by law.

As an example, when police stop you in the United States, they first ask for your license and registration. I assume, that is a routine in most Western countries. So, I don't understand why she is so surprised.
I always knew that Russian People are very friendly. How nice that I had to learn Russian 8 yrs in Polish school, I hope some day I will have the opportunity to use it.

Туристы в России настолько редки, что сам факт что человек выбрал эту страну для посещения уже вызывает к нему симпатию)
Турист в России это свободный и не глупый человек. Так как если этот турист пробился через все потоки лжи и негатива, что льются на наши головы в западных СМИ, он уже вызывает уважение.
Заискивание перед иностранцами это у рабов в крови.
🤝Я думаю это просто что там где она останавливается иностранцы наверное в диковинку тем более как она одна и на моте. Где-нибудь в центре и если бы не мот с багажом то её бы вряд ли кто заметил.

Hi Noraly, a friend told me of you, and l have been thoroughly enjoying all your videos. I'm in Australia and l am a paraplegic in a wheelchair and l have a Volkswagen motored trike. I'ved traveled around Australia and would love to travel the world. But I've sustained a severe shoulder injury and now that's out of the question. But to travel with you is such a joy. It's the only way I can see the world from on a bike. I can only imagine the wind, the smells, the freedom. Thank you so much. You are a beautifull person. Всем русским, читающим это: я стыжусь своего немецкого правительства и осуждаю продажу оружия Германией. Никогда больше немецкое оружие не должно быть использовано против русских. Я рассматриваю Россию как друга, а США как врага (потому что они, должно быть, взорвали Северный поток и в процессе разрушили мою родную страну). Многие немцы со мной согласны. Russia only receives money from the sale of resources, sanctions will not make Russia weaker, but Russia will not become stronger either. К сожалению, путешествие по России, не будет массовым до тех пор, пока не будет наведен порядок на дорогах и в страховании транспортных средств. Напомню ,макс сумма покрытия страховыми компаниями 400 тыс рублей!!!! И полное забюрокрачивание выплат. Это позор! Никто из европейцев на таких условиях в Россию не поедет . Напомню, в Германии мин сумма ограничивается 50 тысяч евро!!!!

When the policeman said "документ" / document / , he meant your driver's licence or documents for the vehicle. If he wanted passport he would have said "паспорт" / passport /

In Canada they would also ask to see your drivers license. It’s the first thing they ask for after you’re pulled over. Those police seemed friendly. Nice to see.

Noraly, a policeman asked for your papers because in Russia, especially outside of cities, people drive motorcycles without any documents. They just don't have them and don't care.

Actually, road police in Russia doesn't need your passport. All they need are you driving licence, insurance and vehicle documents. And typically, they called these 3 things by "Documents". It's true for the road police only. Ride safe.

Even if police in Russia may seem stopping for no reason and talking to you casually, it's pretty serious quick background check. These police folk are trained in detecting counterfeit ids, behavioral patterns, to spot a threat. In Astrakhan region, there is heroin route from Afghanistan and weapons smuggled, so you can notice some of the police stations are heavily armored and have high-caliber machine guns although in most areas away from border there are no road checkpoints anymore. These days Astrakhan area is very safe though.

@@MrRenics Actually, during the Chechen Wars and the War in Dagestan, every patrol vehicle in the southern regions (Stavropol Krai, North Ossetia, Kalmykia, etc) had an AKM or an AK-74 with three spare magazines as standard issue equipment. Some patrol vehicles even had an RPG-18 too, and on some police stations there were watchtowers with PKM or in some cases NSV machine guns. Sure, an ordinary policeman from Moscow or SPB does not carry anything, but his service sidearm, but things are quite different in the southern part of Russia.

And the police are police stations with the territory they serve. Limited units from the Russian Guard can be seconded to them to provide assistance in case of emergency.

You know the police officer on the road in Russia (it's road safety service) can't ask you for passport or any other documents. Only driver licence and the registration for your bike (idk what are the documents in your country). So when he asked for papers - he didn't mean passport at all.

For others that may drive in U.S.A for first time. You will always be asked for a drivers license if you are involved with a police traffic stop. I know some countries your license is not something you carry with you all the time. So get a certified copy or international license or whatever beforehand. Thank you "Itchy Boots" for your content. It's pretty common practice in Russia to ask for your drivers license, because there are plenty of folks who drive without one (they don't own one), as far as I know. The same's in the Baltic states (At least Lithuania and Latvia).

That would only apply to Russians, foreigners would need a PP
In india we need:-
1.Vehicle Registration paper
2.Insurance paper

4.driving license
And off course helmet if riding a 2 wheeler.

I just started following IB recently here on TH-cam. Man, I admire the courage of anyone who travels alone by motorcycle. Talk about braving the elements. Weather, illness, injury and the always (rare, I hope) lurking threats from 2 and 4 legged creatures. She's well organized with a top notch bike, physically fit and films very interesting stops and scenery. I really enjoy her adventures and would love to see her traveling across the USA, but am happy with her current travels. Be safe, IB!
