- Lion politics a lesson in dominance - Kruger National Park
This pride of lion have a large male that does not like the younger male in his area. Normally that is how the young males are chased out and then left to fend for themselves or join a coalition in order to make changes better for survival for the young male lions.

Have you guys seen this male lately or know what happened to him after this?
The eyes on that male are terrifying.
Exactly
i was less terrified, and more thrilled....as if" i want to be a pride male Lion when i grow up". and no doubt that Lion is a formidable Creation.
I wish I knew what he was thinking
@@Ntwadumela89 truly, what a state of Mind he has....

The King has spoken! He has spoken! It's nice to see an old lion that still has all his canines. He still looks like you can tear you up.
Have you seen the end? He is kicked out.
@@lotharlamurtra7924 He’s not kicked out. Where did you get that from? Ever heard of male lions going on patrol? Lordy!

And no music! I love it!
music ruins it. there is a score and a soundtrack built in, we don't need any human noise polluting the purity of the soundscape.
The males fighting for the females can get messy and scrappy, but when the kittens come they're so cute, and the mommies are so wonderful!
Wow. He’s got his dad’s eyes. Beautiful!

Love how they establish dominance without actually killing each other. Pride.
You reckon?
Sometimes if it’s a 3 yr old male cub and it starts humping the ladies , I seen a video where the adult male lion , bit down on its spine and crippled it and gave it a good mauling , it later died
Is the Dominant Lion father od the young male? Is so dark blond as the Boss...
That happens in kruger sabi sands they kill
Look at a Savage Kingdom with Sekekama. He killed his own son all because he went too close to his mom.... Plus show is dominance right throughout the series......
One of the lionesses looked very anxious and nervous, she must be the mother of the sub adult. He’s still her cub, whatever happens.
@@falanajerido875 no child. That's not how things work lmfao stop projecting your leftie crap onto animals
@@falanajerido875 Female Lions won’t stand up to a male lion much and only when it’s to defend them from getting killed. It’s usually unavoidable.
@@falanajerido875 He means in a one on one fight. A Lioness is no match for a Male Lion in a 1v1. The Lioness needs numbers on its side to put up a fight against Males and even then they usually won’t win however there have been a few cases where they have been victorious, So yes, if it’s an unfair fight the Lioness will attack the Male.

Is that male lion with his brother Tyson?
There was only 1 SCAR non of the lions will really look or compare to him .
He looks like one of the Ross lions.
You and me both. I started with primates I love watching docs about gorillas and chimpanzees. I literally watched everything that could possibly be watched about great apes. Then it was on to lion prides. Very interesting
Sure does look like scar

And what happened next? 😅
You are an Indian, right? Cuz elsewhere boys are kicked out as young as 16. 😅 BTW I avoided being kicked out by volentarily moving out at 17. Still have a healthy relationship with my parents.
My dad was 17 years old when he left his parents and join the army and met my mom in Seoul, South Korea.
thank you for a quiet doc, no foolish music, lions do not live with any music.
No kidding. Some of these docs are homemade and God bless them but fuuuuuuck.
Isn’t that the young male coming carefully back at 4:57? It is! LOL he walks quietly behind the big male but that male has his eyes on him the entire time, all the way until he sits back almost in his original spot...but this time the young male is super-careful and respectful and keep me his head down and Big Male allows him to be there. It was definitely a lesson in dominance, but the Big Male is giving little guy a little bit more time in the Pride- as long as he behaves himself!
Yes , if he starts humping the ladies he will get a good mauling , might even kill it
Yes, he came back. In think the old male was giving the younger one a lesson, that his time to leave is coming.
Males will be kicked out of the Pride at a year and a half to two years old. If they don’t leave when they are kicked out they will at least seriously injure him. Sometimes the male(s) will stay on the outskirts of the Pride for a little while but if they are caught they will be lucky if they aren’t killed. All the Cubs if they are a year and a half old to two years old… if there is a Lion Pride Takeover… can sometimes be kicked out of the Pride because they are too old to kill immediately. It does happen.
@@TheCatzMeowMix they are not kicked when they are 1 year and half. Its kinda rare to see them get kicked out at 2-2,5 years. Usually they get kicked ot 2,5 - 3 years of age. Never heard of father killing son because he wasnt willing to leave easily and im following lions for long time so i would say if that happens thats pretty rare too. So dont spread misinformation about lions plz
@@abcde7478T … It is more rare when they are kicked out at a year and a half. Usually it’s at 2 years… but the longest is at 2 and a half years. They are never allowed to stay at three years. If the male won’t leave… they can get seriously injured and very rarely killed. If the males aren’t there to kick them out… the females will get together and kick them out. The exiled males will often try and hang around the outskirts of their Pride territory and if they get caught there is going to be a fight. Male Lions can get kicked out as soon as they start showing a mane and those males are on their VERY BEST BEHAVIOR when it is getting to the time they are supposed to leave. Sooner or later they are going to get kicked out though. But then… any Lion is on their very best behavior around any male. Yes… they can kill a male if that male is just too stubborn to leave. Their purpose is to send a message to leave… not to kill but that does happen though it’s very rare that they kill him. It wouldn’t be good for the species to try and kill them as they make the leave.
This is very rare… when the cubs are too old to immediately kill but all the cubs are forced to leave… even the females… because the are of the Resident Male after a Lion Pride Takeover. That almost never happens though. Lions are a lot bigger IN PERSON than they look on tv. The only Cat bigger than them is the Siberian version of the Tiger. Their roars heard by you is heard from 5 miles around in every direction. They hear each other from 30 miles around in every direction. I love when one starts and then they all start doing it. At the Lion Habitat Ranch… where the MGM Lions are now… I know one of the keepers personally. We’ve talked about what happened several times at the MGM Grand when Bentley attacked a new keeper there. Marina helped save his life though Bentley was well within his rights to kill her for what she had done. The new keeper broke every single rule you could make around ANY BIG CAT. It didn’t make it any better for him that Marina was there.
The father gave his son a warning but it appears he was not banished yet soon though he will start his nomadic journey I really hope he makes it he is a great looking young male
This lion is really panting
@@daviddriskill7162
They seem to do that when their very old...He knows his time is short..
It's a shame when it's only one male, because it will be harder for him. Yet even when it's just one sometimes they meet up with another lion that has been kicked out of his pride, and they become brother's. It's easier for them too hunt together, and to take over a pride from a older lion or lions
Probably ran out of clean socks and needs his laundry done.. If I was his dad, I would kick him out too.
@rudy2fat I think that only happens between lion males who will hookup with another male or males, and they become brothers and will protect the pride together. When young males become teens. Their fathers will kicked them out of the pride. They will meet up with other males that have been kicked out by their fathers. They will hunt together and when they are mature enough too oust an older male or males from their pride. They will take over that pride for themselves. Other than that. Prides don't mix in with other prides. Females would probably kill a lion that try too join their pride. It's blood relationships in prides. They are born and raised in their prides. Outsiders aren't welcome and I doubt that a non-related female would even think about leaving her sisters and blood relationships too try too join another pride. It's just not done.
not having at least one brother or male cousin as a young male is like a death sentence when you get kicked out of the pride. Especially if you get kicked out too early and you are too small/weak to even join a coalition.
ken masters - Yes, that is the unfortunate realty. Make lions are not very good hunters, especially young males on their own. This turns into desperation for food which usually does not end well.
@@danmyers9372 Male lions are excellent hunters. But stealing food is easier so that's what they do whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Young males hone their skills during the nomad phase. Going hungry isn't what stops then from making it.
Plenty of solo males survive. Getting and holding a territory is extremely difficult, though
@@ieatemcees 80% of solo male lions die within a year of the nomadic style, they are young and inexperienced but also very social animals hence they get affected even on the mental level, kicking a single young lion is def a death sentence to him.
@@politicallyincorrectbeing8201 it is very high to say 80% taking into account that its how everything start. and you can see a lot of male lions roaming and challenging males with pride. I dont think the rate of death is that high.

5:27 that death stare coming from the pride male. 🤣 Poor young lion. He's too little to go out there alone, Judging by his size I don't think he is ready to hunt and fend for himself. He does not even have a fluffy little mane yet.
Once the male lion reaches adolescents, they have to leave the pride and create their own
@@MoodMuzikMgmt Yeah but that male doesn't look older than a year old; males leave at 2-3 years old. 3 if they're extremely lucky.
Yes he’s definitely to young, from wat I saw, the son got to close to his mom, aunt or sister and dad had to make sure he stayed in his lane, but dad not gonna kick him out yet, if he behaveds then he may have about another year or so under dad protection, but clearly he’s to young to go out on his own rite now, he won’t make it a week on his own at the age and size he is now
They kick the males out between one in a half to two years old. They fend for their self until they are at the age of a takeover. That age can be four or five years old.

This is not the same thinking as Humans, you know that? Its only males of 2 years and onwards who are kicked out. The females stay for life and the male even mates with the daughter. Its purely an insecurity, jealousy and dominance thing to get rid of any males that are becoming adults.
@Kris LVgirl Yes, the dominant male mates with his daughters, thats why the females are allowed to stay
@@rasher331 I think this can happen however, it's less likely in the wild. Male lions only hang on to a pride around 3 years which allows other males to come in and mate with the daughters.

Such as @ 7:10
Just curious, why aren't we seeing any new documentaries such as when the did Mogopos? Would love to seeing which group is the biggest, most dominant ect. However, this video is absolutely great! Thanks for keeping us in the wildlife loop!
We try to put together what we can but we only do safaris in Kruger Park and not on the private reserves so we are bound to the road and gate time so we can not follow the pride off-road like they can do in the Private Game reserves. There is still a couple of guides around that are producing some good work, but I agree the docs about the Mapogo Lion Coalition were amazing. But give it time maybe someone will pop out some amazing work. Have a great day.

Wow 10 whole minutes for a few seconds of a confrontation that was from the start!
The dominant male will stand for zero competition if he perceives a threat to his status and will drive out any rivals for the females in the pride. His attack and message to the younger male was fairly mild. The younger male needs to get the message and leave. If he advances too close again he could be killed as I’ve seen in another video on TH-cam. In that exchange the big dominant male attacked and broke the back of the younger male who had worn out his welcome. He died a short time latter when vets summoned to the scene determined there was no hope for him and he was euthanized. This took place in one of the African National Parks.
It's usually a process that can take months. Dominant males rarely kill their own offspring. It's against their nature to do this.
The video you're speaking of was almost certainly of a dominant male killing the offsprimg of the previous ruler(s).
Mohawk Mbiri I cannot day for certain whether the young male killed by the dominant one was one of his or not. The video I mentioned is on TH-cam and undoubtedly could be found. The attack was brief but savage and the dominant male intended to inflict fatal injuries which he did.
@@ieatemcees yup I saw the video, that young male was offspring of the previous dominant male,
@@Brace67 Mohawk Mbiri is right. I also saw a version of that video where Bob the ranger or some tour guide on the video is commenting on how that younger, barely sub-adult male was the son of the previous alpha male who was driven out by the new dominant male.
