The New Bonner Bridge was built and the old one is nearly demolished. To those that didn't want it - tough beans.! To those who wanted the 17 mile bridge, find a way to fund it from Bonner up to the new bridge around the S-Curves in Rodanthe. Just be glad that our beloved Hatteras Island is still accessible to residents and tourists alike.
My family camped out at a park campsie near Oregon Inlet in 1961. When our car broke down, my father had to walk over to a boat launch and restaurant next to the ferry slip to call an auto repair firm. When my father returned, he told us that the pay phone had a crank on it. I thought that he was talking about some nasty and abusive person ahead of him who happened to be on the the phone. Two days later, I saw the phone that dad was describing. I was surprised to see that it was a non-dial coin phone with a magneto ringer box close by. First time that I saw anything like it. You needed to crank it to place a call.
Fishing from the new bridge isn't as nice as I thought it would be due to tides but it is awesome that they kept a part of it there for fishing. We make sure to go there everytime we are at OBX.
Man: moves to remote, isolated island. Also man: complains because remote, isolated island isn't accessible enough... The solution is just maybe DON'T move to a remote, isolated island and start a business that relies mostly on tourism when there is only 1 road in or out... Or get used to barely being able to stay afloat when something inevitably happens that shuts that single road down...
I went across that bridge when I was going and going back home from the outer banks, I just came back from the outer banks around 3 weeks ago from a week of vacation of the outer banks
Just build the new bridge and the road, then the s- shaped bridge. You make enough money during summer in Cape Hatteras and the other parts of the Outer Banks to build three bridge's. And tell the people that are trying to stop you where they can go live if they don't like it.
or they could have done nothing and let the inlet fill in 30 years ago then they wouldn`t need a bridge..a new inlet would have broken through to the south and the boats could go out there
What a bunch of whiners. They knew the possible problems when they moved there. I’ve been there many times and knew what I was getting into when I went
The environmentalist needs to get a life when God made this Earth he knew how long it going to be here and he's able to take care of it until he sees fit two destroyed by fire and destruction of it but he will make a new Heaven and a new Earth so the environmentalist need to worry about saving Souls these are the words of Jesus

You can drive the beaches and there's ferries too.... calm down
If you don’t get the treatment he says. Your love for the place on the other side of the bridge is evidently more important than your life

The bible says,"Don't build your house on shifting sands." that probably means bridges too.

You have no evidence your invisible god exists. Stop PRETENDING to know things you do not know.
Huh? I think God intended us to take care of his creation.
