Hey come on it is working 😀😀 perseverance is the key. Yeas more milk from the goats but Jolene is going to prove everyone wrong. 😇😇😇 Cheers Denise- Australia
@SweetBriarFarmMichigan, we own a small hobby farm in the Yoop. Have family in Fennville, MI, they're keeping our cars and camper while in we're stationed here in England. Hope you all will have pigs when we return, and we can get our first starter pigs from you all! We have started from Episode 1, now on Boar on the loose! We are loving all the videos. 🤍 Jess
@SweetBriarFarmMichigan as most great things do! I get it 100%. I'm getting better with my editing skills. We can't wait to continue to support your lovely farm!
@SweetBriarFarmMichigan as you all were running after Boris. It reminded us of us running after 16 pig to get them back in their pens just 2 weeks ago to help our Landlord. 🤣
I know this is an old video. But I had to share I came to your blogs hunting for review of Cow Kant Kick bar for my….JERSEY! They are way more drama than any other breed. Love their milk, but not their kicks!! 😂
We have the opposite experience with our jersey. She is super easy. Check out our tail jack video. It’s a safer no kicking device than the cow Kant kick.
She did very well on the machine! Note how the calf hits her udder pretty hard, you can try massaging her udder harder to make her give more of the milk in the end. I usually lift strongly with the suction cups😁 Or "punch" upwards with my hand around the teat in a curve if the milk hasn't dropped from the teat wiping by the time I try to get the first squirts out. We do use oxytocin hormone injections on occasional stubborn dairy heifers. They don't have a calf nursing on them, so there is no other option than the super suspicious milk machine for relieving the udder. Usually a couple months into their lactation they are the first in line to be milked and don't need hormones, halters or kick irons anymore😊
❤ I have confidence in you all AND Slobby Jo. Just the fact that the milking machine would have completely changed the sounds and feel of being milked compared to hand milking, she wouldn’t have been relaxed. 😊
Well, Jo, IS giving you some milk but perhaps she just needs more time. DOwn the road, when her calf is less dependent on her alone, maybe her instincts will allow the milk let down to happen easier for you guys? I'll be very interested to see how this works out. After all, you guys are showing the "whey" to avoid all the problems! (Lol, you knew I just had to use the whey joke... LOL!)
@@SweetBriarFarmMichigan "Conclusion" already!? Ah dang, I was just getting used to this as it seemed we were going to have our own TH-cam SERIES going on.... start with milking Dexters and onto every other critter we could imagine! Hahahaha! Just teasing you... this has been a really great video series because we all can learn some valuable helps here with Jo and the adventures. Staying safe while trying to accomplish good things is ALWAYS of value and you guys never fail to bring that. Hugs for all your hard work!
@@rspranchinmontana we agreed to a collaboration for dairy month. So we chose “Milk Training a Dexter Cow” as our video. So we needed to get this done for Sundays video.😄
I love your enthusiasm to milk the dexter, But if your getting twice as much from the nubian with less hassle and less work,it kinda seems like a no Brainer at this point.. Being teachers you have answered all your questions, yes you can milk a dexter, yes you can calf share, and yes the milk tastes and looks like milk.. But should you or is there better use of your time and effort?? You decide..
Perseverance! Sobby Jo you can be a great A2 A2 cow for the Sweet Briar Farm 😊we are rooting for you 😊
The new and improved set up looks grewt.
Looks like she did a little better today, not fighting you. One day at a time. ❤
