Few observations as someone who's been visiting for 15+ years (last there Feb 2023; back next month):
    - Weird seeing Taco Bell and Burger King on WS
    - It was inevitable more Indian-themed discos would emerge. And they're all concentrated in the same area
    - Seems only a matter of time before an Indian-themed gogo appears (Indian branding, decor, music, outfits etc.)
    - The Russian establishments has also increased; I've never set foot in one due to the bad reputation they get
    - I guesstimate 15% of the units are either up for rent or vacant (bad sign)
    - It does look better with the power cables now underground
    - That gogo only opening on weekends is odd, be interesting to know their reasoning for that
    - Seems there's the fewest number of gogos that I can remember (the 'big' ones seem to be dominating the market on WS)
I wonder what WS will look like in 5-10 years from now...
Nothing stays at the top forever. The city is a living organism that's forever evolving. I won't go as far as saying Pattaya's best days are behind it, but it's not the same place we all used to know and love.

Their are currently more girls working In gogo's than ever before, the numbers of gogo establishment's are probably the same as pre-covid, the size of the buildings has increased with more double units or larger.
Previously most gogo were single units on walking street, you can check back on Google maps as far back as 2012, the number of gogos has increased dramatically.
I'm not sure why people think it's weird having a Burger King or Taco Bell as Mc Donalds has been there for over a decade.
Dolls only opening at the weekend Is a management decision, they keep both LK Metro bars opened during the week days though, none of the girls know why either.
The Russian places used to be located more where Flexx Club Is, but that area has been dead since before covid, so they moved, usually to upstairs locations on Walking Street. Quite a lot of these "Russian" places contain very few Russians and are also all not owned by Russians.
This Is not directed at yourself, but how can so many people get annoyed with Indians In Pattaya considering they have been there for decades, they go to their own clubs (mostly) and Pattaya Is a city two time zones away In Asia.

I'll never forget the sheer madness and debauchery of Walking Street 20 years ago when I first started coming to Thailand. So many of my best Pattaya memories occurred on Walking Street. I've visited the place several times this year and I was saddened by what I saw. It's a shadow of the place it was and unfortunately it's become the epitome of everything that is wrong with both Pattaya and the world in general these days. Things change over time, that's inevitable, but whether they change for the better or not is a different matter.
Walking Street now is a reflection of what happens when a place becomes over commercialised, globalised, and loses its soul. Now it's just a place full of go go bars selling extortionate drinks, Indian discos, Russian clubs (why go on holiday if you want what you get back home?) and Chinese tourists being led around in groups so that they can learn about the history of the place. The JP Bar was replaced by a hip hop club and even the Windmill is tame now, that tells you everything you need to know about the decline of the street.
I have no wish to be a miserable expat banging on about how things were better "back in the day" but those that have been coming to Pattaya for 20 years or more will know exactly what I am on about and there is nobody that can convince me that Walking Street is better now than it was 20 years ago when it was probably the world's most debauched street. RIP Walking Street.

I started going In the late 90s and try to visit every trip. My last visit to Pattaya was last year and I went down walking street once in the 4 days in town. The street has changed so much these last few years, and now feels like a tourist trap for families to enjoy some sleezy feel of the past. When I started going to Pattaya there was 2 streets called Pattayaland 1 and 2 a bit further along beach road which were full of go go bars also. Then times felt like the peak time.

Not surprised Hot Tuna closed. I used to love it, but last year it was so empty, new band and the singer talked far too much, private jokes with staff and band members etc. ( just sing a bloody song mate! ) Love your mispronunciation of bar names 😂. I was in pattaya in August and one night I took the baht bus down to terminal 21 to eat at the food court. Then I decided to walk back to the bukaoi area via beach road and walking street for fun. It was interesting to see the areas where I stuck out like a sore thumb for being a “westerner.” Honestly when I was on walking street the whole time I felt out of place for many different reasons. I think what bummed me out the most is how certain demographics seemed to treat the Thai people (who I’ve come to absolutely love) with what to me is extreme disrespect.

I’ve been going to Pattaya and of course Walking Street for over 40 years. I even lived in Northshore Condo for 3 years and my feelings are much the same as Trevor’s. Walking Street has lost its mojo. Ok, I haven’t been for 5 years now as I have a home elsewhere but what I recall about the Indian and Chinese tourists is that they spend very little money. Indians 6-10 to a double room. Girls only from the “Coconut Bar” and when girls went back to their room, there’d by always more than one wanting a go for the same price. As for the Chinese, almost all are on cheap all inclusive holidays and they’re not spending money in bars etc. They arrive everywhere in coaches and specialise in decimating buffets. This is how it was 5 years ago so I left. From what I see on Trevor’s channel, I don’t think I’d enjoy Pattaya much nowadays. The current demographics is not something most westerners would enjoy. Perhaps up Soi 6, Buakao, LK Metro or The Dark Side will be ok for a while until they consume these areas too. Fortunately I remember the good old days of the Tahitian Queen, the Windmill and Soi’s 6, 7 & 8. Definitely will not be paying Walking Street a visit. Great video Trevor. Thanks for the update.

Pattaya's future is going to be more Balkanized, with zones you just don't want to cross over too based on racial or ethnic identity, including Walking Street. I think there are already undercurrents of resentment towards some of these changes from talking with the girls.

good god how horrible it has become. My first visit was in 2004. I been 15 times. Last trip was in 2019. Oh the memories. The Sea, The Carousel, Marine Disco, Super baby and all its neighbors on that little area. FLB a fine place to sit and chat. Living Dolls. For all those years I visited a few times each year it was welcoming to go and see the same familiar places. Hot Tuna. Was so planning on semi retiring there but it just got less attractive year after year. Now the pending taxation of foreign income paperwork is the nail in the coffin. I will visit as I retire next year but won't be a long stay visitor. I personally think 2004 was about the peak and best years there. Beach road had flower beds, benches to sit on, the trees were not butchered and chopped down. I didn't want the big Central Festival mall. I got malls here in the USA. Garden Mall and the Big C mall with its cinemas down by the now gone Dolphin roundabout was just fine for my getaway. I loved Carre4 and thought it had a better and different selection than Big C which it now is. I miss the internet cafes. Met some nice ladies in there and for 10 or 30 baht an hour it was fun to stop in and check email or browse a few things. Didn't have nor need an expensive fancy Smart Phone back then. Life was simpler. Eastiny Place on Soi 8 now closed which was my first stay hotel in September 2004. Soi Yume was not fully paved and my buddy always stayed at Nantana Garden up that way. Oh well. Thanks for the walking street video

But now I do agree the wealthy indians have come to pattaya as its easy reach from Indian and visa’s have been relaxed. I was in pattaya in Nov 24 a few weeks ago and the behaivour of some Indians on walking street is the reason alot of go go’s have banned indians from entering. Beer Garden behind Trev at the end is always worth a visit: food, drink, music at sunset. In all my 30 plus visits to Pattaya have never gone into a bar or club on WS. If you are flush, you have Soi 6. Then you have Soi Bhukhao and Soi Pothole. Personally I am a Jomtien fan, the road to the beach and Soi 7

There will always be Super Rich Russians and Indians so now this is the place for them.
I would though still go to the Clubs Late at Night but dont have a chance when its full of Korean, Japanese and Arab Guys throwing their money everywhere. The days of me being Handsome Man long gone and spending 30000 THB a night just to impress is not me. I just go for the Music.

Its not working. Very wealthy Indians came in and built massive super clubs. They have big overhead in entertainment. These wealthy Indians overestimated the market. Indians won't spend thousands of on expensive bottles of Champaign. More importantly, the Indian market doesn't tip. Westerners won't set foot in these clubs. Thais won't work at these establishments so the owners bring in labor from India (slaves, confiscated passports, they sleep in the club in the early mornings and work 100 hours a week) . Eventually, these Super clubs lose so much money that even the wealthy owners don't want to keep them afloat, so they close after about a year. Russian and Chinese establishments have a similar issue. Theses cultures don't tip and as a result they can't get or keep local Thia labor. Bar girls won't work in these places. This was the error. Westerners tip. Establishments that cater to Westerners can survive. However, the western market is leaving Pattaya (because of the growing influence of Indian and Chinese culture) and shifting to Phuket.

Good thing there is tons of other streets still half like the old days. Let them have this. When they drive away the core tourism and start to make no money they will slowly realize.

First went to the asking street in 2017 and it was still worth a trip by 2019 it was going downhill, now I only bother going near it to go to Le Pub and Windmill.

Havent been to waking street at night for years, apart from going to see Phil at LePub. Used to go there and have the best time - got through a bucket list there in a few days. Damn good nights they were.

Of course things change. Any man who walks down a street in a city hes lived in for over 10 years he'll see changes. Nostalgic video but have perspective, the western men couldn't have the place to themselves forever

I accept change as you said but is this change and drive for the better of the city or for the landlords?

Two brothers in late 2021 and early 2022 was a parking lot. Was open until a piece of the concrete gave way and they closed it down. Then it got redeveloped into what it is today.
