Neo has one of the most fun semblances and fighting styles. The way they animate her using Hush just always looks so great...

Cinder landed one hit. Oscar one. Penny once. But Calavera hit her more than once, from what I recall, she hit her almost four times.

The way she transforms into Ruby when talking to Cinder. It's so interesting to think about her using her Semblance as a form of communication.
Her semblance like shapshifting combo of physical illusions can seen by everyone unlike Emerald's semblance on affect minds.
Her semblance is called overactive imagination, it lets her create physical illusions of anything she can imagine

Neo’s semblance in V9 is PURE nightmare fuel.
I love the sound effect for her semblance. The squeaky glass like sound is spot on.
I feel like her semblance is one of the best on the show.
Trivia "Neopolitan" Vanille, ladies and gentlemen, all else between and beyond. She may have a simple weapon, but pair that weapon with her semblance, she will put you through hell. In fact, sometimes, she doesn't even need the semblance to showboat, because there's seemingly no end to her flexibility. Cap it all off with that silent sass and you have not just one of the greatest villains of there, but also the most entertaining. (Come on, you can't tell me that you don't smile whenever Neo rolls her eyes or gives a smirk.)

Hey guys, it’s been a while! New vid's dedicated to Neo! Ngl, she’s always been one of my favourite villain to watch from the start just because every scene she’s in is badass. Neo’s semblance is easily one of the most unique and powerful in the series, and together with her fighting, she's honestly op. It's also cool to see how her semblance is evolving as well. Neo is the strongest! I want to see more character and semblance development for her.
You should've added the little eye roll she gave Cinder after her little remark that she'd need to materialize some snow boots for Solitas in the mini compilation at the end. She is the queen of flexing and silent sass (evidenced by not just the smirks, but also her eye rolls).

If it wasn't for the Fall Maiden powers, Neo had her ass!!! And we all knew Cindy was gonna backstab Neo!!! ITS CINDER!!! But, no........ Neo trusted again. Now, she's stuck!! lol

we got her back story in a book and tho i'm not a fan of making her a rich kid having her not really being mute and having "neo" just being a made up friend she had as a kid the book over all is pretty good

Can we all agree that, Neo probably has one of the most broken and powerful semblances in the show.
It's the way she uses it which makes it broken, she knows her self, her enemies, she fears not the result of a hundred battles

Aside from being beautiful, she is SUCH an elegant fighter and SUCH a pain to deal with due to her spy-like appearance.
She dances while fighting, and is a goddess of espionage. Her only flaw is being mute, which would be the weakness of her masking.
Neo is the best character in this show, hands down.
Love her my favorite character and villain her reasons of wanting to kill Ruby are so justified but someone needs too tell her the truth.

Neo is such a cool Character. I loved that they made a prequel book of her, some of her backstory is a bit, i dont know, but i really liked how she and roman worked together as evil gentleman thief and awesome bodyguard partner. hope so much that she gets her revenge on cinder and salem, i mean in the end its their fault.

@@timur5241 Emerald uses hallucinations which goes to a specific person. I think Neos is viewed by everyone. Illusions are more chained to reality than Hallucinations. Like art illusions - things like that.

Physical illusions. She’s basically a green lantern with color accurate constructs. She can layer illusions over people and objects to change their appearance or even make them invisible (just make them look indistinguishable from their background).
If she ever teleports from somewhere, she was never actually there and what you saw was an illusion.
Seeing Nora with Neos eyes was creepy 😳
She deadass solo'ed Team JNPR and killed Yang only with Transformation Jutsu and a umbrella💀
Her semblance is so good, also I love her fighting style

Honestly, Neo's my favorite character
ive never seen rwby before, but i find it funny that she just breaks into shattered glass as an ability
I describe her semblance with the phrase “Smoke and Mirrors.” Unlike emerald’s illusions, which are basically mirages, neo’s illusions have somewhat physical properties. She can take the form of anyone she wants, almost like you were looking at a mirror. And she can create clones of herself just to fool anyone to gain an advantage. However, like a mirror, neo’s illusions are fragile. One good hit and they’re gone.
A few more points:
She can cast illusions on any object, hiding any properties of what was originally there.
However, another downside to her semblance, mirrors can only reflect so much and its only a matter of time before someone sees through your magic tricks.
i genuinely hope that Neo ends up on our team's side in some later volume. i absolutely *love* her character development and i could totally see an event where Ruby changes Neo's mind because of said development. not to mention her skills and semblance would be so genuinely helpful to them.
if it wasn't for Neo, honestly, none of Salem's plans would've worked. without saying a word she can deceive and confuse people in an instant.
In the end she was a foolish mute who trusted the wrong kind of people
1:20 can act as a great "RWBY out of context" scene
There's a clear change to how her semblance works, specifically when her copies break off in shards. At the beginning, you can believe she had ample time to make her illusion like with Torchwick, as soon he told Neo to get them out of there, you can believe they had enough time to make the illusion and run away. This also makes sense with Neo's fighting style since it's mostly strategy and analyzing her opponent's moves, she knows what her opponent will do so she can set up an illusion and do something else. However later in the show, it seems like Neo's semblance became like Blake's, a get out of jail free card from getting hit. There's two instances where Neo didn't expect something, at 1:42 when Oscar grabbed her and at 2:52 when Blake caught Neo with her rope thought that isn't shown in the clip. Despite not predicting these moves and being noticeably surprised, Neo is still able to use an illusion. I think the showrunners misunderstood what exactly Neo's semblance is beyond "Illusion" so we see less of Neo's strategy and analysis back in the beginning.
Neo probably foresaw those events as well. She left behind an illusion for Oscar to grab on. This illusion pretended to be surprised so that the whole team would have their attention overfixated on her while the real Neo ran away.
In the second instance, Neo also predicted Blake's incoming attack so she purposely left behind an illusion for Blake to catch while Ruby and Neo moved to the walkway.
You're giving the producers more credit then they honestly deserve. Miles and Kerry are cool guys but when they were literally handed a gold mine as the writers to create Monty Oum's passion project they had NO real experience to do so, and Monty was just an animator, not a writer either. Miles and Kerry certainly have gotten better with time (i thought their work on Camp Camp was awesome) but trying to do a large series like this was never gonna go well for them
They had no idea where they were going with any of the characters or the world prior to season 4. Hell it took them 3 freaking seasons to decide whether or not magic even exists in their setting. We didn't have the word "semblance" uttered until after dozens of episodes and they weren't even actually explained until after like 5 seasons
@@zacharyjackson1829 I'm actually giving credit to Monty, if you watch Hbomberguy's video, there's a section describing behind the scenes footage for the storyboards. Normally, the storyboard scenes will follow what Miles and Kerry wrote but for the combat scenes, they'll a blank card with the words "Monty Action" and in these scenes Monty had free control. Since many of Neo's scenes are in combat (at least in the early 3 seasons), I'm assuming most depictions of her semblance were done by Monty. That's why I think there was a fundamental change to her semblance, not because of the writing but because of who was animating her.
@@phoenix05892 not to speak ill will of the deceased but that's part of the reason the show also sucked. Monty was a brilliant animator and had good ideas but he only had brilliance in these fight scenes. The most involvement he had in the series was showing up after being missing for a few days and coming back with a fight scene that involved new characters that Miles and Kerry would have to involve in the story somehow.

Thats something i really miss about newer RWBY Seasons, i started watching RWBY because of awesome fights, cheesy oneliners and cool weapons/characters (Neo beeing one of them for me).
But with every season after season 3, these stuff got pushed back, new characters came and suddenley you had so many, that the ending of the last season was just so weird, like they only realized that they had to much "special" characters all of a sudden. Dont get me wrong, i dont have a problem with story, but the way they made this series go is just so weird and i think they had enough moments where they just had to set a way for the finaly, but for some reason they kept on going like this already confusing story needs much more built up.
Another good example would be:
The series was fun and chill most of the time, but sometimes had some darker bits, but with season 7 they had this really weird horror almost gore like moments sprinkled in, that didnt really fit in the way, the series normaly was. It felt so off to me.
And with everything i see/hear from RT, i have the feel people are also somehow right with saying that rwby saddly is their "cash cow". It fells like it and like they dont know anymore where the story will go next. I actually just keep watching now and then, because i want to see what happens in the end, if they all of a sudden get a good end of all this twists and turns they created now.
Her "semblance" is being a plot-device
My fave design and outfit has to be classic NEO, she looks so gorgeous and her outfit it’s also extremely realistic, as something you could actually see someone irl wear
It reminds me a lot of Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2.
Both are physically weaker than the rest but they are both extremely quick and deadly using the maximum potential of their low strength but quick movements.
They both use tools in order to give anyone a hell of a fight:
They’re masters of weaponry, Neo uses her umbrella as a sword, as shield and even to avoid attacks, and her shape-shifting skills allow her to make surprise attacks, meanwhile Lord Shen uses his feathers as blades or even using his tail to confuse or to sweep off his foes.
And they also happen to be one the greatest villains of their series.

So from my understanding, her semblace has a large area of effect or rather is one that can produce stuff. Neo can use it to cast hard light illusions in a certain range and then make clones of stuff.
I wonder why Neo let Oscar punch her in the face though. She had time to avoid it.

Another possible theory could have been that she thought he was just going to turn the corner and tell them she wasn't him and that he was the real Oscar, not that he'd actually punch her.

They’re physical illusions they’re just easily broken (at least I think so)
yeah they’re more physical like blake’s clones, just much more easily broken and they do mix with optical. she likely jumped back as he jumped at her, leaving behind a fake version of herself to grab onto
Yep, her semblance is supposedly physical illusions that can be seen by everyone. They’re fragile, a bit like glass, but i guess they hold up if you dont hit them too hard. It’s not been made clear how she uses it to seemingly teleport around though - maybe the real Neo is invisible when she uses her semblance to create a copy of herself or something, and that’s why she’s always in a different place when the illusion breaks?

Upon V6, Neo has developed her semblance enough where the illusions are strong enough to be able to take a hit or two before shattering, as seen with Cinder fighting the clone while the real one was outside channelling it. Neo has enough mastery over her semblance to have clones do fighting for her, while she is in an entirely different location. While people are fixated on clones, she can move about freely.

She could single handedly kill every character that has any attachment to someone but the writers wont let her.

Just thinking of all she’s capable of she could form her own group and tear through the underworld. She’d rather play games with an immortal dark goddess death bringer, a half monster psychopath she doesn’t even like as a person and plays around with the incarnate magical forces that forged the world. The really remarkable thing is she does it all because she’s still hung up on Roman.

I think the producers letting people get in cheap shots on Neo was when I just. Gave up. There is no reason as to why she wasn't able to avoid those.
I find it funny that the pink effect neo does with her semblance is entirely unnecessary and is likely something she does just for flair, which really suits her character.

Pretty versatile semblance, not quite as versatile as Weiss's, but still good. I mean Neo has physical illusions for diversions and misdirection, disguises, stealth and camouflage, she could also clone herself a single time (Well sort of) and on top of that, she has short range teleportation which she's used multiple times, once to escape Raven, once to get out of Oscar's hold and once to get herself and Roman out of trouble in Vol 2 (There no way a simple illusion could've visibly hidden their escape from Team RWBY, and there's no way a pissy little illusion would've hidden her physical escape of the train car from someone as experienced as Raven) So yeah, its a pretty versatile semblance.

So 0:27 was an animation error? Her eye colors are switched.
Just so everyone is aware the glass shattering thing is Roman's semblance not Neo's tho Neo does starts using her semblance to copy it after his death as a way of remembering him, every time we see it in the first three seasons it's only when Roman is with her for proof of this look no further then when she trys to kill Yang but Ravin shows up and Neo knowing Ravin is a maiden "runs away" seemingly teleporting away but she can't do that so really what she did was just go invisible and hid til Ravin left as for why she didn't just kill Yang after Ravin left if she was still there Well she likely just left to be safe and also killing Yang wasn't apart of the train plan so there was no reason to do so aside from just wanting too also if she did kill Yang Ravin would likely hunt her down and Neo being smart doesn't want to fight maidens which is why stopped trying to kill Cinder after finding out she had maiden powers
