Very fun stuff! Would love to see more of your actual process… The gluing down, the dowel attachments, the cutting and attaching of the glass, etc. Very inspiring!
Hi Greg, You continue to amaze me with your work. You leave your viewers wanting to see more and more. On top of that your voice over's are simple , precise and inspiring. From watching your videos I've created a couple of pieces of my own that I'm very proud of. Thanks and thanks for answering my e-mail in a prompt and encouraging manner. Keep those videos coming!
@armiliob Hey there...many thanks for your comments! I'm a big believer in "artists helping artists," and am glad to share any information on my humble approach to assemblage art. Are you posting the photos of your work somewhere...I'd love to see your pieces!
I love coming to your sight ever so often to see what you have created. Your work is pure genius. Keep on posting and keep up the great and amazing work.
You are such an inspiration! I love how free and easy you use things, and love the ideas with the little dowels. I just want to go shopping with you! lol you find the coolest things!
@5redbird Thanks! The glass edges are really not a problem once they are glued down. I do make little folded paper "frames" that I glue on around the outside edge...works great, looks great !
love your art. where do you find all those old photos. i search thrift shops and antique stores and they are so expensive. I've seen photos as high as $7 and up for one pic, keep the vids going they are great
Hey Greg, I was wondering if you have to do anything to the edges of the glass on pieces where it sits on top of the piece? Are the edges sharp? Also, if you sell your pieces do you need to be concerned about what type of glass you use? As always, another enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing your work and all the tips you give. Deb Plapp
@TandeB4 The sharp edges on the glass are no problem at all once they are glued on top of the box. I did, however, place a small strip of folded paper around the edges (glued down with silicone) on most of these little boxes...only because I like the framed/edging look. I'm not concerned about the glass that I use...I have scrap glass that I've gotten at yard sales, etc., so whatever I have on hand is what I cut to fit my pieces.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas. You definitely have many artistic gifts. Regarding the silicone you mentioned you apply to the back of paper cutouts to adhere to the top of the glass, I wondered if you applied same to top to seal it?
Tamera, I've only used the silicone on the back of paper to adhere to glass. I suppose it could work to seal any and all papers on the top layer, but it's rather messy to work with and I'd rather not go in that direction. There might be some other kind of product to help with "sealing."
@thibodeaux99 Thanks...glass edges are not a problem once they are glued down...I do make little foldable paper frames which I glue around the edges, but they are not really necessary.
@oceanpoet1 You are looking in the wrong places for the old photos...I've found cheap ones at garage sales, flea markets, and I just picked up a large vintage wedding photo (maybe from the 1930's) in the beautiful cardboard frame for 50 cents at a recycling center yesterday. I've also done some trading, and some have been given to me.
Oh Greg, you have truly inspired me to try this wonderful art which I want to thank you so much for doing so. One thing I need to know please; how to you stick the glass to the boxes and what glue do you use if any? Sorry to ask but I can't seem to find any information on this. Thank you again; much love and peace from Greenwich London UK.
Hi Karen, I use clear silicon glue...it comes in tubes and can be purchased from any hardware store. Sometimes I then glue down little strips of paper with the same silicon to fashion a border (frame) around the piece...takes a little bit of practice! Glad you are inspired!!
@@Brdlee Thank you so much for replying to me as I know you must be very busy. Great info for me to know. I cannot stop watching your videos. I am even dreaming Assemblage Art. Thank you so much xxx
