man you are killing it. clearly you know hat you are talking about, and your work speaks for itself.
this is the first video of yours that ive watched, on that note, dont be afraid, to take a pause, to think for a second and keep explaining i could tell that that little mishap with the handsaw and you saying you are trying to work really fast, was just you over hurrying. i just want to say that, we are here for you and your knowledge! id love to see the whole process! take as much time as needed, just as a communicator, slow don a bit. you felt a bit rushed, then again, ive shaped a couple boards and i can tell you know hat you are doing!!!! im excited to see all your content, thanks for the good work and keep it up!!!!
    thanks a lot

really great work man. bravo 👏👏Good for you for sharing the knowledge. San Diegan here too, shaped and glassed about 10 boards myself and used to work in a few repair shops here. I love Blending Curves, and designed a few of my own shapes too. i actually made a fish really similarto this one.
Loved watching you work. Id say you're about on par with everything I learned from the pros. Subscribed

Nice, what I like to do is fade out the tuck to the nose as well, similar to what you do on the railband and the tuck towards the edge (back). I found that as soon as I did that my rails at the nose stopped looking like 50/50 rails towards the nose all the time.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Shaped my daughter a board 8 or so years ago and glassing was the hardest part for me. Only one ive done. Loved this video and have the bug to do another one.
Off to watch the glassing video you did now

Good luck! Glassing is always difficult but the most fun once you get the hang of it!

I always trace a fish tail template with a keel fin, leaves a nice shape. Smaller swallow tails you can just use a smaller fin like a quad rear or thruster fin etc i like cutting it with a jig saw as well

awesome work dude- love it. I am a way worse shaper than you but the only comment i have is a tip i saw from Kazuma surfboards , which is using a full- length stanley knife blade for foam rail cuts... especially in tight spots like the fishtail, i like it as its super precise and you can even kind of bend the blade a little for curvture.
keep up the vids, so awesome!!

Thanks for this video. This has inspired me to start getting materials to start shaping. I’m just curious… how would you measure a 70/30 rail if I was trying to make a board 2 1/4” or 2 5/16”?

Appreciate it man! Good luck and good timing as the final build video comes out tomorrow.
As for your question, the goal would be to mark 30% of the total width from the bottom. In your case it’s right around 5/8”. Measure that up from the bottom of the rail and mark it. Then shape your rail from the top down to that mark.
