About oxygen system. The "МАНОМЕТР" gauge is a Pressure gauge and shows (obviously) pressure in oxygen tank in Kg/cm2. The second, bigger gauge is actually the one you want to adjust with your altitude. It's actually reads in Russian "КИСЛОРОД ПО ВЫСОТЕ В ПОЛЕТЕ КМ" which translates to Oxygen by altitude in KM. So by turning oxygen adj. valve you set the value that roughly matches your current altitude. Pretty simple, actually, but only for one who understands Russian :)

    Cockpit panel shaking is awesome.
Funfact - Those gauges glowing is from Radium. Very unhealty.

I've always liked WWII engines and the way you have to baby them to get the best performance out of them.

Remind me the old days, I flied this in IL-2 game. I got tears in my eyes.

My guess is fuel mix to rich (Fully forward) until engine is warm. Akin to a choke on a 2 stroke. Then once warm lean out (pull back) engine in flight until you see engine temperature start to abnormally rise then add a bit back in. Should be most efficient..

Left click on the primer pump, but you should drag it back and forth while clicking.
And the instrument in the oxygen system is not "flow rate", it's something regarding oxygen and altitude, that's why on the ground it's apparently not working. That instrument is the one that should match your altimeter altitude.

I know is a bit late... but at minute 5:27 if you look on the second blue gauge, the big one behind small one... you can see the word высота read something like vysota which means hight.... aka Altitude and is the word to be found on all russian altimeters and you can see it if you pause at 5:27 on the altimeter! So that means that second gauge is not the flow meter but is the gauge you check that the system provides oxygen for the required altitude. Probably is not doing much while on the ground at batumi... just a thought...
Other than that. excellent movie as usual.

Not sure if it was attempted, but I have to click/hold on the primer pump, and using the mouse, drag it out and in manually.

I think MCP stands for something like most coarse position referring to the prop attitude

very much an uncomplicated start up procedure but very imprecise.

Does this work without having Ground Electrical Power on? I tried this like 20 times before finally turning on Ground Electric Power before start. Very frustrating.

Do you not have to check magnetos after engine start?... switch from both to 1 then 2...makes sure both are working..then use 1 or 2 for flight never both..if u get engine probs in flight u switch 1 to 2 or 2 to 1..IRL

You'd think a plane that looks this simple would be extremely easy to learn and start, like a AK.
Come on Russia, your not German Tank Designers, make simple stuff, like your guns!
