Thank you for the details on this. My husband has a Ford F150 and both back doors on his extended cab would not open. We took it to our local Ford place and scheduled an appointment to have it fixed for 800/1,000 dollars. That evening I decided to check out videos to see how hard it would be. My husband and I are both in our mid 70's and saving money is our goal. I ended up purchasing the parts for each door and decided to take on the task. My husband has some dementia going on so I knew I was on my own. In two hours I had the first door done and working. This video was the best in the seven I had looked at so thank you. Your teaching was great.
A great video, both verbal description and video filming. I am slightly experienced in such but not automotive so I know and appreciate just how good you are. Now to give it a try with my 83 year old hands. Thanks very much.
Thank you sir. I have a 2004 f150 trinton. I followed your video with no problem and repaired both sides. Again thank you for making this video easy to follow step by step
Young Lady....you would make ANY Daddy proud of you! Thanks for posting this...people forget that many gals work in the Auto Industry putting them together. You are a gem!
WOW!! Just opened the access area behind the handle and found that one of the cables (lower) came out of the holder on the main bracket. I pulled on the cable and opened the door, unscrewed the bracket, placed the cable back into the holder on the bracket, tightened it and then reattached the main bracket to the door and DONE! Thanks so much! Strong work!!
Great video! Repaired my F150 without any problem, other than being a little slow! Instructions were quite clear and simple to understand. Really appreciate it.
Your video was PITCH PERFECT!!! I followed your video step by step on my 2007 F150. Everything was exactly as you stated and went very smooth! I totally disagree with those comments that say there is a ‘cheaper fix’ buying those replacement cable clips/latches. There was NO WAY to access all clips without major disassembly of the latching mechanisms, including drilling out rivets. Thanks a million!!!
Ivan YES there is i replaced mine today 8/30/21 those plastic deals that fall apart are just set into slots. They crumble. 2004-2008 are all the same also. Mine was 2005. Cost me $8.00 and about an hour and half. Videos on You tube show you how to do it.
This method works like a champ. I used another video for how to disassemble in one piece, and reinstall… but this part list and replacing the entire mechanism is the right way to go. Do NOT try to replace the plastic boots on the cables with metal boots. Ops checked, it doesn’t work.
Thanks for the video. It helped me immensely. I ran into two stripped out t27's which costs me a lot of time to try to get out. The video was awesome though and a great help 👍🏻
I have a 2004 f-150 and both rear doors wouldn't open. I bought new cable ends ( aluminum ) from amazon. $11.. Did all work myself in driveway in about 2 hrs.. All better now.. I see how replacing everything would be so easy, however why spend so much extra cash ? You did a very good video for sure though..
I was fortunate that I only had to replace the plastic boot pieces. Door works fine. I would say to make sure you turn the Torque screwed the correct way as they may strip and then the job becomes difficult.
You do not need to replace the whole assemby anymore , only replace the new style (metal not plastic) cable ends. I just bought 8 of them for less than $15.00 . This is such a common problem that a whole bunch of companies make them now. I could have made them myself on my lathe but for less than $2.00 each it was more cost effective just to order them on Amazon.
@@slewishvactech Hi , just saw your message. Go to SHOP AMAZON on your computer or device and type in " f150 rear door cable ends " and up pops a whole bunch of choices for ordering the same part. I am looking at one of them now. $7.99 for a package of 8 . it looks like more than 20 places on Amazon are selling them
I have this exact same problem, out of nowhere I just couldn't open my door (driver side) I feel confident I can fix this myself thank you for posting you saved me some money..one question, how did you open the door? Mine won't open, its closed
Nice Job thanks ordered the parts for both left and right they both failed a week apart.Very good presentation. I appreciate you for taking the time. Dealer wanted over a grand to fix I say #$@% them Found your video fixing myself in closing I SAY I owe you a beer!
I am incredibly grateful for all of the requests asking me to create a Patreon page. It is very humbling to me that so many of you want to support this channel and help it grow. So, I've finally created one! www.patreon.com/AutoRex
Zombition just go to ebay and type "f150 rear door latch". You need 1 set(4 pcs) for each door. IMO You should get 2 sets and redo both doors even if the other door still works, it won't last much longer.
I appreciate this video. Ordered the kit and was able to install it. Pretty easy to do, but when I tested it and closed the door, it wouldn't open at all, Neither the top or bottom will unlatch. Now I can't open the door. How do I fix this now?
The cable that goes to the bottom latch still doesn’t open when I pull the cable up. The top latch did open but not the bottom latch, any suggestions???
I did the same thing on the passenger side when the plastic broke I bought these aluminum ends that go on there for about $5.99 off of eBay now the other side just broke so I am replacing the ends only not the whole mechanism it is cheaper to go this way instead of buying the whole thing
This has been a fantastic video, but I ran into a huge problem. I replaced the latch on the passengers side of our 2007 F150 and it works perfectly. I then replaced the latch on the drivers side and when I closed the door to check it, it wouldn’t open. The upper mechanism works, but the lower part doesn’t even when I pull up on the cable manually. I can’t for the life of me get that door open to do anything with it now. Any suggestions?? I’m desperate and don’t want to have to take it into my mechanic.
I cant get any of my doors to open, im pulling on the cables but im scared to break them or stretch them too much, also how do i know when my top or bottom latch are actually engaging?
The part store have those aluminum cable ends for 12 dollars order online and get a 25 percent discount and from the looks on this video it looks like those are plastic or rubber they will break again.
Why on earth would someone replace the whole latch for darn near 200 bucks when you can just repair the ends with metal replacement ends for less then 10 ??? No thx

Recently purchased an ‘08 F-150 and you have guided me well on several projects. Thank you!

Thanks so much for this video...just repaired both doors on my 2006 F150.
best instructional video I've ever seen, thanks man you're a natural, followed you to the tee and didn't encounter any problems
Thank you so much for your video. It helped me save about $225.00 per door. I was able to change 1 side in about 40 minutes easily.
Your video will come out very handy tomorrow...my doors (both of them) just quit working. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for this video made it around 1 hr even with my kids playing around . Very easy thanks to your video . Safer about 200$
Great video, no distracting music and clean instructions, thanks for sharing, I just subscribed.

Very good information made things very easy. 5 star rating.
Very good video!! Straight and to the point..
What a great damn video man! So Informative. You just saved me hundreds of dollars from going to the dealer.
Got my sub for sure. Thanks dude
Now if only eBay wasn't bugging out. Can't even log in atm
NATRON unfortunately instead of buying $340 worth of hardware you could've just got the aluminum cable ends for $10.
Thanks for the video. It helped me immensely. I ran into two stripped out t27's which costs me a lot of time to try to get out. The video was awesome though and a great help 👍🏻
How did you get the t27's out my left top and bottom ones are stripped out
Thanks for the video, best instructional video sir!
Great job, super impressed with your instructional video.
Excellent edit, thank you!

Thanks FORD. Epic FAIL!!!! I have two f150s . a 2000 and a 2006. Both trucks, both doors jammed
I bought cable latch ends for $7.00 and replaced them..a little more work than $180.00 for the entire assembly...
Fairtaxpatriot same thing I did, that's just an expensive repair, but he got it done lol
what are the cable latch ends youre talking about? I kinda have the same issue but im not so familiar with part names.

Kevin Livingston its a 4pcs cab rear door latch cable repair?
I appreciate this video. Ordered the kit and was able to install it. Pretty easy to do, but when I tested it and closed the door, it wouldn't open at all, Neither the top or bottom will unlatch. Now I can't open the door. How do I fix this now?
Excelente video
The cable that goes to the bottom latch still doesn’t open when I pull the cable up. The top latch did open but not the bottom latch, any suggestions???
Great video I have to do this to my truck questions do u no the name or part number off the plastic cover on the ceiling where the top lach locks
I didn’t remove that bolt from behind the window control. Ended up breaking that piece when pushing the door up and out.
HAVING THAT PROBLEM , WERE DO U BUY THE PART😊

Can you please inform us where can we buy the part and part number thank you very much.
10mm bolt (2:16) and then 6mm around panel
How do you open the door if the cable breaks and falls to the bottom of the door?
T 27 (4:47) top latch
By any chance do you have the part #
I cant get any of my doors to open, im pulling on the cables but im scared to break them or stretch them too much, also how do i know when my top or bottom latch are actually engaging?
Same here. How did you get the door opened? My cable is broken down inside and off the bottom latch.
@@greghughes3598 same problem
6mm screws or bolts?
If the bottom cable comes out and door will not disengage??????
Really dumb question I'm sure but what exactly is the purpose of the lock out linkage bar?
when the front door closes, it actuates the lock out making it so that the rear door latches can't open unless the front door is open.
hello!how to remove a locked car door?
The part store have those aluminum cable ends for 12 dollars order online and get a 25 percent discount and from the looks on this video it looks like those are plastic or rubber they will break again.
I had to get a whole assembly. Bad bottom latch on the driver passenger door.
Where else can I find the whole assembly? Instead of purchasing it from dealer. Dealer prices are way over price!
Name of piece
why not just buy the $8 replacement ends that are made of metal instead of plastic that go on cable ends?
Yeah Kevin I'm not paying $100 dollars so the parts guys can get rich. Much cheaper to replace the messed up parts
I watched the video and I am going to try to fix the stuck door, how do I send my comment?
I watched the video and I am going to try and fix the stuck door , looks easy?
6mm (0:52)
Is anyone having an issue with these damn torx screws. I have sprayed them numerous times. It can't just be me..
i just replace the cable clips, maybe his latche was broke to.
$108.95/$110.95? when you could have spent $10 buck for the same repair...
waste of money-those will break again --aluminum ones last for ever
Good old terrible Ford quality.
Why on earth would someone replace the whole latch for darn near 200 bucks when you can just repair the ends with metal replacement ends for less then 10 ??? No thx
