- The Chicks are set to hit the road for the first time since releasing their latest album "Gaslighter" in 2020, and this time around they will be performing alongside their kids! The Chicks share their excitement about performing live again, and share some of the places they're most looking forward to playing. The Chicks also dish on the first time they played together, their country radio boycott 19 years ago, and the decision to change their band name.

I absolutely LOVE The Chicks! Years ago I was in an abusive relationship and Goodbye Earl got me through it (no I didn't do anything physical to him it just gave me the strength to walk away). It gave me the strength to say the relationship had to die and my next chapter of my life needed to start. I also loved singing it in karaoke bars. My best friend would tease me about it for years. Love y'all!
I'm right there with you as I've done the same. I had to get up one morning, packed my stuff & left to go about 900 miles away and I haven't looked back except to show how strong I was and still am today. At times , we are the only person that can help ourselves while others may not support or ignore certain facts etc. I'm happy now & have been for over 22 yrs now. i lost many people along the way but am a better person etc..
I'm happy to see there are strong women out there that aren't afraid of doing certain things and taking the reigns. Best of luck & love. 😀
@@Hurricaane_Princess thank you! Yes it's been about 22 years for me also. I am now very happily married and I live about 1200 miles away from him. Thank goodness my family was very supportive, his obviously not so much. But I wasn't thinking about them I was thinking about my 3 year old daughter (not his) and myself. Though I hated what happened I am so much stronger and I am who I am because of it. Because of what I went through I was able to help one friend out of an abusive relationship and she is now happily married and tried helping another friend but unfortunately she passed away before she was able to get out of his reach. Blessings to you my dear Princess!
That is my one of my top 3 songs of theirs!! I couldn't stop playing it all those years ago when I heard it on their CD at the time. My dad was physically abusive to my mom (luckily they got divorced before I could form any memories of that), but my brother was physically and very mentally abusive to me growing up. Only my closest friends understood that it was not a case of "oh all brothers tease their little sisters" crap. He terrorized our whole household and is now unfortunately an abusive husband. This song (and video) helped me feel so much stronger about the situation, and I love how they were creative enough to make a horrible situation into a song and video with humor!! My kids loved the song too and would dance to it, having no idea what it was really about. They are now adults and my son is taking me to their concert tomorrow night for my birthday and my daughter sent me a video last night of people doing karaoke at a bar she was at singing Goodbye Earl!! 🤣❤️

I have to say that Kelly's questions in this interview and her insight is really mature. She asked intriguing questions and gave them time to answer. I wanted this conversation to go on forever.
I’m not a big talk show fan and I click off them easily, but Kelly just has a way about her that keeps me here much longer

This album is GOLD. All of their albums are exceptional but this latest one is so deep and provocative and fun and brilliant! Really wish it was able to be recognized more fully but Covid stunted how big it could have been...

I bought the gaslighter cd but didn’t play it right away. I wasn’t sure if I liked the song “gaslighter”but when I finally listened to it I couldn’t stop. It is one of my favorites. Everyone is right. The Chicks are three of the most talented women of all time. I would buy and listen to everything they put out. Icons of there time. They will be here long after there gone. Love the Chicks.

I just saw them in concert in Bend Or. they were AMAZING!!!!! And I So Loved how they Embraced the issues that effect us all as women and they speak for me in their values and politics. With no fear! I went with my three sisters and our husbands. We Danced. We sang along. We laughed. We Cried! We hugged each other as we all felt the songs. Very impactful and the talent is just enormous. It wasn’t just a concert to us. It was much much more. And I’m so grateful I got to share that experience with my sisters. The Chicks speak for so so many of us. Thank you 🙏. And Natalie’s Dad played on my CD so I feel a connection there which is really cool. Plus knowing Susan Gibson etc … cool Austin music vibes❤️

Once upon a time I was on a roadtrip, a long one. Just me and my dog. We were on our way home so I was driving late into the night and needed to stay alert, so singing along with The Chicks was a go to. My dog, Tyrone, loved The Chicks. Whenever that fiddle started he'd harmonize with a high tenor howl. Every. Single. Time. I'd be like, Take it, Tyrone! and he'd be off. Big goofus that he was. I need to figure out how to put a cd player into my car. I hate renting music I already own.

Anyone who is recovering from narcissistic abuse, Gaslighter is your album to listen to. Of course, in 2020, I feel the country needed the album, especially after the January 6th Insurrection, when the flying monkeys attacked as cued by their leader.

It was Reba McIntire who fixed up Kelly and her ex-son-in- law. I always felt like Kelly was forced into that relationship for publicity. So proud that Kelly escaped that loser. He used her for her money. She deserves so much more.

It broke my heart that here in Atlanta, GA the country radio stations were so cruel and heartless. Talk about cancel culture...they were cancel culture. Ok they didn't necessarily changed their name because of the George Floyd protests because Winn-Dixie didn't change their names nor did Dixie plates and cups but i never saw the Word Dixie as a racist word i always though it was just the name of a region (like New England) because of the Mason-Dixie line

Natalie has tried to find any reason to get them as far away from country music as possible, she even said “we never wanted to be a country band” on an interview. She speaks for the other two all the time and the two sisters were raised and taught to play country music, they are musicians. Natalie is not.

I didn't know the band changed their name. I thought it was the music industry trying to remove any racial identity with the band name. This came along with the removal of statues and the removal of Confederate flags. I remember when Green Jello first came out with, "3 Little Pigs." The album was quickly changed to Green Jelly due to copyrighted content. 🐀🐾
