The white and sliver combo looks absolutely fantastic! Amazing looking, sounding car.
My dad recently purchased a 2012 SRT 8/392 and I gotta say, I have never had more fun in my life driving a vehicle. I tink my Dad misses his old Hemi Cuda, and it was a joy to see him behind the wheel of a big MOPAR again. Maybe its just me, but the Camaro and Mustang just dont have the same curb appeal as this ride.
is your dad a trained and bald chemist?
Three years later, the 6.2 litre Hellcat,707hp engine would make the already perfect Challenger into a Legend.
Now we got the last hemi one 😂
During this SRT8 392’s time, it was eating dust from the ZL1(580hp) and GT500(662hp)
I’ve been around cars for a long time and I don’t know what it is but personally I always come back to the Dodge Challenger I just think it’s the best looking car I could look at them all day long and they never get old
And thank God it's a timeless design seeing as how Dodge has been sitting on it for over a decade! I love it , too.
Off roading in a Challenger? Something you don't see every day. Way to go Steve!
I'm 20 years old & own a Challenger SRT-8.Everyone says I'm to you to put myself in debt like that, but I say it's the best investemnt I could've ever made.
Getting this car next year , I been saving for months for her .. she will be mine 😈💨
I love the 392, very fun
My dream car. When I see these drive by, my head is magnetized to it. Hope I can be a proud owner some day.
you can get one now for 23,000
@@chrisjackson-zu1rn is it worth it?
Did you fullfill that dream?
I saw SRT8 parked in front on Claridges in London (its a very posh hotel for those who dont know) It was parked amongst Ferraris, Lambos and other super cars. Man, SRT was NOT lacking behind to drag attention. My God that is bloody pretty car. Damn!!! People were actually more interested in Challenger than in other - pony cars are VERY rare in Europe. Hence insurance costs an arm and a leg.
Between the SXT, T/A, and SRT Challenger which one gives the best ride in comfort on beat up roads? Which car will isolate you from bumps in the road better?
Just got an all Black 2012 srt challenger six speed and it's a freakin sweet ride. We get about 16 around town and 23 on free way
Very true. The reason he is mistaken is the old orginal chargers were a bit longer looking a tad like a challengers VS todays they shrunk the charger a bit.
getting my challenger at 18!!!!! hard work pays off!!!!
Jose Zuniga just turned 18 and almost got enough for a decent down payment!!
Is it a good first? The 2012 challenger V6 is my dream car and I’ve been planning to start saving for it when I get a job. (Im 14)
If you're going to argue that the current Challenger doesn't mimic the bodytsyle/design of the General Lee then I don't know what I can say. The car curently known as the Charger bears no resemblance to the General Lee.
They actually do pretty good when you consider it's a 6.4 litre v8. But as with all performance minded cars you have to drive nice to get nice mileage.
I think this is the first review that I really enjoyed seeing, not just and endless rubber burning movie.
Thank you!
I just test drive one! It was awesome it. The power was unbelievable.
I've seen white Challengers with black, blue and red stripes which are all beautiful but I think this is the best color combination for a white Challenger.
I have one of these cars, mine is Black with the Gray strips 2012. This car is a real head turner, everywhere I go people walk up and want to talk about the car or look inside it and etc. Cant go wrong with the Dodge Challenger 392.
This car may be on borrowed time, but Im glad I picked up an RT before they kill it off. Its not the fastest of the 3 at this point, but no one can deny that this is the American muscle car for people that enjoy American muscle cars. This is the driver's car. No frills interior, lots of torque under the foot, and all the attitude from the muscle era is there. Not to mention of the big three everyone knows that the Challenger will be the one bringing in the big money 40 years down the road.
Now that's a proper review THANK YOU .
I am so glad that you did this review. Thanks steve
I LIKE THE FACT THAT DODGE DOESN'T RELY ON SUPERCHARGING TO KICKASS
Interesting to note that in the final scene the start up in the garage is accompanied by major tappet rattle . .
Stuck between this and the Camaro...
Definitely leaning to this.
I just bought a used 2011 Inaugaral Edition with just 8k on the clock it has the six speed and It is a beast I love it 8)
Your reviews are some of the best on here, very informative, well put together. Thank you!
I'm pretty sure it's the lifters. It is not exclusive too a HEMI, as every pushrod engine has it upon start-up. It's perfectly normal. Once the engine warms, that sound is gone.
Hello Steve, which Car would you say is the best? Mustang, Camaro, Charger or Challenger? And which Half-Ton pick up is the best?
Ummm...the General Lee resembles the current 2-door Challenger, not the 4-door Charger.
@scarlebloke Not anytime soon. Sorry. Winter weather means more SUVs on DT soon.
@halfgoodhalfevil a manual is better especiall on twisty roads. Correct me if I'm wrong on this and you use your brakes less. But which one auto or manual as a whole on this heavy 4,100+ LB. car will have less maintance i.e brakes, shocks, tires etc.
cant wait till my 15th birthday:D
this car looks amazing(:
You're 23 years old now :)
Do you know you’re 23 years old now
@@luhtweakin2658 yes
@@hammoz8579 and the price of the car is now like 28k crazy
2011 inaugural edition has same 392 badges one year before
Great review. I like all the camera shots.
Hey Steve, What would you recommend The Challenger SRT-8 or Charger SRT-8?
@parrishwl Thanks. How would this car be greeted over there?
You had it right Steve my choice is the Challenger too. So I'm buying one just because I watched this review.
How well does the paddle shifters work in the Challenger or the Auto stick? Does it feel similar to a manual stick shift?
Like the gray stripes on white. This one is sharp.
the HEmi has a advantage over a sinple 440 brother. been that since 1968
My goodness the Challenger is such a beautiful car.
@coolvideo28 They are switching to the same 8-speed auto found in the BMW 7-series and Audi A8. Unfortunately, the German company that makes it is having trouble meeting demand. The 8-speed is therefore only available in the volume-seller V6 Charger until more gearboxes are built.
I've already addressed what you said. Everyone who owns the new Mustangs, is 26 or younger. A bunch of kids, that's what the Mustang and Camaro appeal to anymore. And where I'm from, I see more Challengers than any other cars. Just in my very small development of less than 125 people, we have something like 6 Challengers, 2 Chargers, 0 mustangs, and 1 early 2000's Trans Am WS6.
hey steve, dont u think the car will have a faster 0-60 if u roll into it instead of getting all that wheel spin
For what you get in the new SRT8's they are actually very good value and quite affordable. Save up $10,000 for a down payment and just about anyone with a full time job can float the monthly payments.
Nice video! Crazy times!
Very!
I'm really puzzled and concerned about the transmission selection when I built my own (Challenger 392) and I'd like to asks you guys whats is better, Automatic or Manual Transmission !?
* Note: Manual has a 6 speed Trans. and the Automatic has 5 speed Trans. in addition to the Tiptronic feature.
. this car is my dream
I love this car .
اشتريتها ولا لا؟
Steve, are you going to do a review of the 2012 V6 Challenger? For many people it's a more practical proposition than the more powerful versions. It'd be good to get your opinions on the new Pentastar and whether Challenger is still a nice drive with the V6.
This car is based on 1970 Challenger replacing a boxier 1969 Charger. Actually Dukes of Hazard drives a 1969 CHARGER which is a refreshed version of 1968 "Bullitt" Charger RT.
Good point about the interior, for $50,000 the interior should reflect that especially in 2012.
Problems? Zero, as there are non. HEMI engines never break, and you can ask ANYONE who's drag raced with HEMI's that, and they'll all tell you the same- HEMI engines are most litterally, bullet proof. Now, pros and cons: Pros would be the power. It's a fast car, don't be mistakin'. It's got everything a luxuary car has, and maybe more. It's style is clearly amazing. Cons: Fuel mileage, if you have lead foot disease. MAYBE weight, to, but, the suspension is so perfect, you hardly feel it.
Finally someone who says the interior for that gen needed to catch up. I don't understand what dodge was thinking with that awful interior that only the challenger was given for that gen.
This is the car of my dreams.
I know paddle shifters are supposed to be better than regular stick shifts, but I just can't wrap my head around it. Maybe I'm old school, but nothing like good ol' manual shifting.
Just the best muscle car
that would make this car pure gold
Why the Challenger? Is it the visual appeal, or under the hood? I know you said it's a combination of the two, but could you be a bit more specific? I'm just curious haha
Very nice review! Thumbs up! I love the new 392, got to drive one, and a new 392 charger and 300 back in January, and they are just incredible rockets for their weight! And the Challenger, you'd never guess it weighs 4200lbs the way it goes round those corners. If I could afford one.. I'd buy a Boss 302 ;P
If I had this car in my garage I wouldn't be watching this video...I would be driving it
The General Lee looked brand new every week ;-)
hey steve, their has been rumors for a challenger srt 10. do you know any information about this?
If it's icy out I wonder if you could get a 2 second 0-60 time on the car performance gauge readout ?
I'm getting a challenger and I'm making it my General Lee!
i love the look of this car, and i hope that the old classic muscle car look makes a full comeback
Great review on a badass muscle car!
Thanks! 👍
@D3X1M3R I agree and whatever the Challenger SRT-8 gives up in performance it makes up in roomy size, comfortable ride over the competition.
I want one, but I would prefer a 6 or 7 speed instead of the 5. It could use some weight loss to. Maybe shed 300 pounds? It would put it closer to the Camaro and Mustang and pick up a few seconds on the track.
Love the challenger. My only problem is the interior and tech inside.
i currently have this car. Why are you being soo rough driving offroad with this car? its nota truck you know you can break the suspension
How long have you had it and how much did you pay? I been want it since 2012
Hi steve, this October im turning 16 and for the past four years i have been saving my cash as well as having a job for the past two years and i have saved quite a bit, with my money and the help of my parents i have a $15,000 limit on my first car whatever it may be and i want the loudest fastest muscle car i can get and i would like to know some options you think would be best. Right now im looking at the 2005 mustang gt or the 2006 dodge charger rt, thanks
You really like Bo Duke'ing this thing! Wheres the canyon jump?
I should have!
Awesome review! Gotta get one for 2013
What the challenger lacks in power in comparison to the Mustang and Camaro it gains in driving comfort. Driving the Mustang with the solid rear end axle is not good when you hit bumps and you will feel all the irregularities in these roads. It will beat you up on a rough road. Challenger has a bigger wheelbase over the competition.
Wow, $50,000 for a Dodge is a lot. But there is no denying this is a lot of performance for the dollar. I think for $50,000 I would be looking into a corvette.
Great car also Looks that’s make Dodge Challenger a Special one indeed…
Thanks for sharing very much appreciated indeed…
wait, so the 6.1L was changed to a 6.4L but still has the same amount of power?? huh? is it at least any bit more economical? does it handle the cars curb weight better? such a huge displacement. I still love this car, but even though paddle shifters are the new thing, i wouldn't want it on my muscle car. its just not the same.
I think marking the fuel door with the word "FUEL" is a bit redundant.
i like the original srt8 exterior details like the stripes and the black rear spoiler. hate the new stripes look weird specialy on the hood and on the rear. guess these lil details would make me want to get a 1st gen srt over this. tho the wheels are on point.
I can't wait to get mine in December
And here's where you're missing the point, entirely. 2013 Challenger SRT8 has better ride quality, a better interior, better overall looks, and better quality period, over the GT500. The SRT8 also uses leather for the interior, that is not regular leather, but, instead, it's the same leather that Ferrari uses for their cars. The Challenger has the best overall handling, and the highest n/a output engine. Quality, comfortable, looks, and engine output (from n/a) make the Challenger worth more.
@MiisztaUfo, I believe they do have a special challenger srt10. Package deal like the gt500 and there is a thing like the new camaro and gt500 it's called a challenger 570..look it up. It's a challenger with 570 hp and most of them I believe are purple. Hoods changed and stuff. It's pretty bad ass
I've test drove a 2012 Camaro SS and it has that same tap upon start up... I don't know what's up with that...
@alessandrozerbone The Mustang GT 5.0 beats the Challenger SRT-8?
Not really
i still love the charger SRT the looks the power and all that in a 4 door sedan + sports.
You don't understand what "naturally aspirated" means, do you? The ZL1 has a Supercharger. The GT500 has a supercharger. A supercharger is something that sits ontop of the intake manifold, and has a belt attaching it too the crank pulley, which compressions to giant screws inside of the supercharger, which inturn, forces more air into the combustion chamber, which causes more fuel to ignite, creating more power. the SRT8 does not have that. The SRT8 is all motor. 471 out of n/a is insane.
its still no old school car, just a future car wearing the challenger logo.
Is this auto transmission or manual transmission?
I'm sure it could beat a M3 on a track just like a Viper.
@GuitarMaster310 the hemispherical heads is not what I'm bothered by, it's the simplicity of the engines given we're in 2012, dodge is probably the only manufacturer out there putting single camshafts blocks in every popular car they make, while everyone else has 2 camshafts. Dodge was the only company loyal to their heritage, the challenger looks best of the 3 ponies but Ford and chevy are making some serious V8s now and dodge is stuck with the same modern hemis for nearly 6 years
look at old car footage of the 60s and was a lot of full size sedans doing off road rally driving, whether it was good i dont know
anyone know the exact colour name for those gray stripes?
Well, technically it should be the grandSON of all Challengers, being the newest! Awesome muscle!
@SuperSportPala I prefer the Challenger overall and the Ford F-150.
Hmm this just popped up in my recommendation. Nice car
Well done on the review, but if I wanted a muscle car, I would go for the mustang boss. Any comments on that, Steve?
When you can afford a car like this you dont worry about how much gas is, you just worry about what the weather is like to do smokey burnouts!
Thank you!! Ive been waiting for a new(er) Dodge Challenger review. Thanks Steve..
