Dionne's version was also great and I also appreciate her great voice, but as you said, Aretha completely reworked this song and "took it to church" infusing it with that wonderful gospel style she was famous for. There is a great documentary called Muscle Shoals, about the whole scene in Northwest Alabama. Aretha had a lot to do with it in the beginning. I highly recommended this watch. If not only for all the great musical acts that came through Muscle Shoals
