    For those who are curious korma and kurma are the same dish...the o is north indian and the u is a south indian variation.

    Yay, your sister is in the review! She's so fun. :) They all looked delicious, but I think I would love the chickpea one that Shinichi picked. I love vegetarian curry (don't get me wrong, I LOVE all meat), but I just prefer curry without meat. I love making Japanese curry, there is the packages of roux in the grocery stores here and I pick out the chicken/beef (my husband LOVES the meat in the curry) and just eat the veggies. I know... I'm weird, LOL!
    Thanks for sharing all the yummy curries! :)

      Trinity Li I think you sound perfectly normal to me! I am not vegetarian, but I eat a lot of vegetarian meals. I think I'd prefer the vegetarian curries, too. They look really delicious! :-) Enjoy your weekend.

      Trinity Li not weird - here in Aus I choose the chicken/red meat curries, but then don't eat the meat & just eat the curry/gravy 😂.
      In India I lived on vegetarian curries and dishes. Didn't eat meat once and didn't miss it at all as the vegetarian food was so tasty 😁.

    The curries looked delicious, and what an amazing variety! Thanks to Robert for the wonderful curries! I would like to try the eggplant with black sesame, as it sounds so intriguing and different. It's so fun to see Nat-chan in the video again! I hope she is doing well, and Shinichi's mother is, too. Thanks for the fantastic video, and enjoy your weekend! :-)

    I have to say that I absolutely love this channel and am so happy I've found it.
    The food bit is of course the main point, but I'm so happy with how much camaraderie and friendliness and warm fuzzy feelings the folks in the videos feel towards each other. It really comes through.

    Of all the packaged curries, the one I like the most is called Khadi Pakora, which is a sauce made with yogurt with little dumplings. However, I found the best combination is that, plus microwave bacon. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but the combination of the two just seem to go together really well. I tried it with regular bacon, but it didn't taste as good.

    It's funny, one of the curries you liked the least and said tasted like pasta sauce (the paneer makhani) is the vegetarian version of the most well known and well loved curry in Australia - butter chicken (murgh makhani)! 😄
    I wonder if you didn't like it so much due to a palate difference, perhaps because it's not very common to find in Japan (or Hawaii), unlike Australia, or whether that brand just doesn't do a great version of the dish... 🤔

    Fun curry haul! I haven't seen packaged curry at Muji before. I would gladly try any of the vegetarian ones. By the way, there's a restaurant in LA called Mayura that specializes in the cuisine of Kerala. They have a really excellent fish curry that comes with appam (sort of lacy crepes). It's so good!

  • @elizabethshaw734

    I love all of these curries and make them all at home but I do not use paneer which is more of a coagulated milk than a cheese. I use tofu in place of paneer and you could too Satoshi. I don't use fish either. Sag and that means spinach not saggu. Spinach curry in India is not thick. The one you just had is more authentic. Chana are actually split garbanzo beans and I make it home often from the dried split beans. Eggplant Curry is delicious! They call it stuffed eggplant but it is really just in a sauce with other vegetables and the sauce in India is called gravy. I can't handle a number four curry! Thai curry isn't even related but of course you know that. :-) if you come to New York again make a detour to Maine and I will cook you all of your favorite foods! ;-)

    • @blaMEself
      @blaMEself 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @cyeow: The one I ate was at a zichar coffeeshop at Boon Keng mrt station. I'm not sure the exact address but you come out from Exit B. And nearby they have this row of shophouses. You might know the famous chicken rice shop (Boon Tong Kee) and you walk further down you will see this small coffeeshop.

    • @blaMEself
      @blaMEself 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ana Santana: yes it will be fishy for people who hate fish. for those who can accept fish, the perfect combination for fish head curry is to have tamarind (assam) added to give it a sour taste. the sour will cut away the fishy taste. if you visit an indian cuisine,this will be very normal. when you order chicken curry and fish curry, it's totally different.

    Kuzambu is pronounced as Kulambu, because it is in Tamil(a South Indian language) and the Tamil "la" is pronounced very different and has not equivalent in English.
    If you notice, the Kerala fish curry and Kulambu are very different from North Indian paneer, chicken etc curries. Because of Tamarind and Coconut and other ingredients which are never used in North Indian curries.
    South Indian curries are more difficult to make than North Indian curries.

    • @secretdiaryofafoodie
      @secretdiaryofafoodie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      neko mata no it's not what we'd call cottage cheese here in Aus, however it is often translated as cottage cheese even in India. I guess it is made in a very similar way (just pressed) and cottage cheese is the closest well-known equivalent for English speakers.
